CT110 in YZ80 frame   Message List

I'm brand new to the group after picking up a pretty sad basket case
CT110. I realise this is probably sacrilege to most of you guys, but
I have been wanting to use the motor to make a first bike for my son
by putting it into a minibike frame, but wondered whether it would
fit. (I was hoping for the learner-friendly nature of the CT110
engine with a frame size more appropriate for his size, kind of like
a poor man's Yamaha TTR90). Because I can get hold of an old YZ80
frame I was most intrigued when I saw a photo here of the same
project.

But on a closer look, it appears a VERY tight fit, with front
downtube/wheel clearance issues (which I suspected) and possibly
swingarm clearance hassles as well.

Does anyone know who did this project? Did it work? Was it worth the
effort?

Any words of experience or caution would be appreciated before I
decide to have a go or try to find something else for my boy.
Thanks, Mark
