The London Cycling Campaign (LCC) had their AGM and annual awards ceremony
last night. We nominated ourselves as Best Community Cycling Initiative. At
the time, we had only done 7 rides and had only been going for 5 weeks but
already had a ride attendance of 70. I put together a nice entry that
completely matched the criteria for the award and included testimonials from
people who had enjoyed the rides and a selection of our photos.
We didn't win but we made it onto the shortlist. Results below:
*Best Community Cycling Initiative* finalists were:
* - Pollard Hill Cyclists
* - Gary Jones's Limegrove project for vulnerable adults
* - Tower Hamlets Council Community Cycling Day
I heard about the results from Barry Mason of Southwark Cyclists who says:
"The THC project won. Very inclusive day that reached a lot of new
non-typical cyclists. (The 4 Council blokes picking up the award were all
of Asian origin, about the only BME faces in the 94% European-faced
room)."
We are currently hatching Merton Cycle Quest. Too early to give details but
maybe that will win us the award for next year!
Cheers
