WANDLE PARK COULD BENEFIT BY £400,000 FROM YOUR VOTE
Richard Ottaway, Conservative MP for Croydon South, has lodged his vote for Wandle Park to receive money from the Mayor of London.
Richard said:
London has 47 parks and Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, has announced that 10 of those parks will be awarded £400,000 each. The decision about which parks will benefit is down to a public vote.
“I am delighted to have lodged my vote for Wandle Park and I very much hope that it will be successful. Croydon Council has exciting plans for Wandle Park which include:
· restoring the River Wandle which currently runs underground in a concrete pipe
· improving the playground and installing a new skate park
· new planting in flower beds and shrubberies
· refurbishing the sports pavilion and re-fitting the public toilets
“I do encourage people to have their say and vote for their local park to receive the grant funding. Londoners can vote:

· Online at http://www.london.gov.uk/parksvote/vote
· By post – persons unable to access the internet can request a postal vote form by calling the Public Liaison Unit on 020 7983 4100
· By mobile phone – text 'parks' and your full London post code to 62967. This will automatically vote for the nearest park on the shortlist to that post code in the same borough.
Voting closes at 5 pm on 30th January 2009 and the 10 winning parks will be announced in February.
