Hi all
Transport for London is currently funding Wheels for Wellbeing to run
Croydon's Cycling for All cycling project for disabled people that was
started up about 5 years ago. It is a victim of its own success and is
incredibly popular. Liz Mincer and I approached Croydon Council in
April and as a result the Arena projects now have some resource to
develop more sessions and enable more people to enjoy cycling.
So why am I emailing you? We are looking for people who would be
interested in volunteering some of their time on a Monday or Saturday
to help with the registering and the refreshments. The sessions aren't
just about cycling, they are also about having a fun time talking to
other people who come along. You would also get to see the wide range
of cycles that we now have.
For both roles, you will need to be good at dealing with people. Many
of our users have learning difficulties so you would need to be happy
supporting them. For the registering role you will need to be quite a
strong personality. For the refreshments role you should enjoy
chatting as well as being able to make a great cup of tea! Of course,
as a Pollards Hill Cyclist, you will also be passionate about cycling
so will be able to enthuse at length and perhaps encourage some more
people out on bikes more frequently.
If you'd like to find out more about the project, check out
www.cyclingforall.org. This lists the session days and times and shows
you some of the cycles we have. If you're still interested then I'd
love to hear from you.
Best wishes and season's greetings
