PHC RIDE REPORT
East Sheen 02/12/07
Eight riders and a new leader set off along backstreets and alleyways
to Merton Abbey Mills for an early morning stop. But once we were up
on Putney Heath, it started to pour down and 2 riders left for home
whilst the remainder sheltered underneath the A3.
Lunch was at a new venue, the Pig & Whistle at East Sheen. Food went
down ok and the rain thundered down outside but stopped by the time we
left. On the way back to Wimbledon Common, one rider got a puncture.
Tyres are far more vulnerable in the wet so you need to be extra
careful on days like this.
Another rider peeled off at the Common whilst the remainder ambled
back to Pollards Hill just before it got dark.
35 miles, out for 6.5hrs. See the pix on Flickr at:

Next week is the annual cyclists' Christmas lunch at the White Cross
in Richmond. No need to book as it's not table service. There'll be
cyclists coming from all over South West London. Our ride will be
reasonably direct but we'll enjoy ourselves on the way out and ride at
the usual pace. We normally pick a very direct route for the way home.
9:30am at the library.
There's no ride booked the week after. It's crept up on me! Anyone
fancy leading a quiet routes ride to Hyde Park for the Winter
Wonderland event? Optional skating or rides on the big wheel. There's
a cafe there too. Free to spectate and use the cafe. Any takers please
let me know direct or if anyone has a better idea, please say. I have
maps for the best routes out & back.
Cheers
