Purley Alps ride – Saturday 23rd June 2007 – 9:30 start

For those looking for more of a challenge I’m leading the Purley Alps ride climbing 1700 feet over a 23 mile ride.

The ride starts at the rear of Purley railway station off Warren Road map at 9:30.

First climb is a steady one up to Riddlesdown Common where we take the bridleway (this is the only bit that is off road) across the common to descend down to Whyteleafe.

Second climb zigzags up to Caterham on the Hill, where we do a quick tour of Kenley aerodrome before we descend down to Reedham.

Third climb is steep & short up to Hartley Down, from where we make our way up & down to Coulsdon South.

Fourth climb is the very scenic ride up to Farthing Down, then, we continue south to drop down the other side of the North Downs.

Fifth climb is the final challenge up Whites Hill which is 1 in 4 in places, the lunch stop is right at the top.

Then it is 6 gentle miles downhill back to Purley.

There are various options to vary the length of the ride depending upon how everyone is feeling, plus some short cuts to the lunch stop.

If you want further information contact Tony: Mob 07951 048 556  email tony@...

Cheers
