A ride through the orchards of Kent, starting in Headcorn south-east of Maidstone. It is a beautiful ride through picturesque and quiet country roads passing numerous orchards and farms, oasthouses, schools and villages.Route: Headcorn to Rabbit's Cross to Yalding to Pearson's Green to Horsmonden to Staplehurst to Headcorn.
Lunch can be at Castle Inn at Castle Hill or Kent House PH depending on numbers (Castle Inn is smallish).
Length 30 miles mostly flat with only two small hills (graded level of difficulty 1 out of 5). Suitable for anyone who is reasonably fit.
Start time would be 10.00 am on Sunday 17th June in Headcorn, expected medium pace (average 8-10mph) depending on experience level of participants, 1 1/4 hour lunch break, two other breaks 15-20 minutes each. Expect to finish by 5pm.
Suitable for all types of bike as long as it is in good mechanical order. (All on-road). (Very wobbly tyres may make for hard work on tarmac).
