"Mini-motorbike riders who break the law on public land could be fined
or see their bikes crushed, the home secretary has warned. The
government has given £200,000 to enforce laws on mini-motos in England
and Wales."
Interestingly, Michael Wood, the Chief Superintendent BOCU Commander of
Merton has refused point blank to deal with these bikes in Ravensbury
Park on the Wandle Trail. This has resulted in barriers being erected
that effectively bar cyclists from using the park legitimately. Whilst
the Council have recently offered to apologise for their failure to
follow the correct procedure on consulting stakeholders when installing
the barriers, they have also refused to remove them and will not rule
out putting more in. The blame for this lies firmly and squarely at
Michael Wood's door so I am writing to the Home Secretary to ask why
Merton think they are exempt from dealing with this national menace.
Cheers
