I covered what we've achieved so far:
* 24 rides with a total attendance of 214 riders
* 73 members on the Yahoo list
* We have large posters in the library windows to designate our Official
Meeting Point
* Merton Council have given us money to produce 100 full colour A4 posters
* We have a bank account
* We are affiliated to CTC and are covered by their insurance
I talked about what is coming up:
* Suzanne has obtained a rental stock of 4 bikes. These will be available to
hire for those that don't own their own bike. Awaiting delivery
* We are organising a ride for this year's Wandle Festival on 11th June
* We are leading a CTC One Star ride on 12th February. It's the Epsom
Explorer ride
* We have been asked to organise Croydon's Bike Week from 17 - 25 June. We
will have a separate meeting about this soon to pool ideas. JB and JF had
some good ideas tonight that we will incorporate. Volunteers will be needed.
* We have developed a Ride Leader training programme and would like more
ride leaders to come forwards. General consensus was that people would be
interested in leading summer rides.
* We now own a Ride Leader pack consisting of a rack bag, puncture repair
equipment, a pump, first aid kit, spare lights and tools. All ride leaders
can carry this kit so they are not having to supply their own stuff.
* We would like to have a weekend away at Easter. MW pointed out that travel
might be difficult on the Friday and that perhaps we could lead a Mitcham
ride on the Friday and go away on the Saturday until the Monday. SW to
compile a list of suitable places to go so we can vote on it via this list.
I pointed out that it needs to be a Sustrans route or other signed route so
we are not constantly looking at a map and this was agreed.
* I suggested that our monthly train-assisted ride should be a series of
different Box Hill rides in the summer. It was agreed that these should be
regular and take place on the 3rd Sunday of the month and use the same
train. Other riders would be welcome to join us at Boxhill station.
* Basic Maintenance classes. Everyone thought this was a good idea. It was
agreed that a small amount could be charged to cover costs without putting
people off. MD and SW to set up.
* The big announcement was our Love Yr Bike event on February 11th. Rather
than explain it all here, visit the website at http://www.love-yr-bike.co.uk
for the details. A mail will be distributed later tonight explaining all.
Everyone was happy with the way the rides are running. Next meeting is in
March. Date to be decided.
Fickleshole this Sunday: 09:30
