As much as I like Alternate 1 for mountain
biking, the Proposed Action is so much better for hikers and horse riders than
Alternate 1 is. Do we want to get into a mountain bike vs hiker, horse
confrontation over this? I say give hikers and horse riders the Proposed
Action and see if we can work with the USFS to add more MTB trails in the
future hopefully with the approval of the hikers and horse people.

Subject: usfs seeks rim to reno
comments
The USFS has posted its
notice for proposed action on the Rim to Reno trail. It has come up with
an alternative that would provide additional trails for mountain biking in
the Belli and Ballardini Ranch areas. This proposal is available for
review (under Carson Ranger District) at:
There was also a recent article in the RGJ here:
http://www.rgj.com/article/20090705/NEWS/90705025&OAS_sitepage=news.rgj.com%2Fbreakingnews
After an initial review, the Poedunk board is very encouraged by the
proposed "Alternative 1" that adds approximately 14 miles of new
trails that would allow mountain bike use. We tend to endorse this
proposal, but would welcome and seek additional comments from you
first. And of course you can also send in your personal comments as well
to the USFS.
Please take a moment to look at the USFS proposed action and RGJ
article and reply to this email or to the USFS with your comments,
suggestions and/or endorsement of one of the alternatives.
