The new plan is that the meeting will be before the youth trip on Saturday morning. If there are still schedule conflicts then we can have a second meeting, or at least individual briefings.
Thank you, I sent that to just about everyone I could think of that could help make a difference.

We will most likely have TWO meetings, one at the time listed and one on Saturday afternoon after the youth trip or Sunday morning before everyone leaves. We will maybe wait and ask around to see which time is best for the most people. We'll work especially hard to make sure all of the directors at the convention will be able to meet and talk with at least Shalene and me, if not in a meeting.
I also will not be there.. at all. I have to go to another convention, for
school. Unfortunately. But, I hope to see everyone soon! :o)

I am preparing for Convention and the youth display that we do. I
need pictures. I need a picture of each of the directors. I want to
recognize each of you. I will not guarantee the return of the
pictures so please send copies. Any other pictures you would like to
send please feel free to do so.
Email me at mpayne @ localline .com (no spaces) if you need my address
or have any questions.
Thanks

All regions that do not have 4 directors can have more. Some regions don't have any directors. There's a list on http://geocities.com/poacyouth
I detailed the election process proposal in a post a few months ago. I can't remember all the dates I used but they're on that post. I was thinking that we would keep the same directors next year, since this year was only a half year, and so we can fully establish all of our systems. We will just add directors from weakly represented regions.

Do you know when the elections will take place next year? Just a curious
question! And.. Which regions are needing Directors?
Hope to see you SOON!

I am sending a news article for the magazine that requests more volunteers to be directors. There are still some regions without directors or without the maximum number of directors. Remember these directors won't replace the current ones, they will just fill in vacant positions for next year. Next year will be the first full year for our nomination/election processes to apply.
Shalene and I are still working on writing out some basic rules and defining the YAB. When we're done we will talk with a lawyer who will help us finish them, and I think they will go in the rule book. At the sale some of our proposals were turned down because we don't have good enough guidelines, so that's why we are focusing on that.

I noticed that we hadn't defined the rules for the whole director/advisor selection process, so I typed this up based on previously stated rules and information from the magazine. I also added some dates, just to help organize everything since I know Daniella had a bad time getting everyone to nominate, wondering when to stop accepting nominations, etc. With the dates I have, we would know the directors for one year by October of the prior year.
Anyway, just read over it if you feel like it, make sure I'm not leaving anything out, and tell me what you think about the dates that I chose.
Any youth is eligible for nomination as a regional director. However, the nominated youth should use discretion when accepting his/her nomination. If, for some reason, the youth will not be able to attend many of the meetings, or will not be able to take an active role in the Youth Advisory Board, the youth should not accept the nomination.
Director
Directors are nominated by the youth in their regions. Each youth will have the opportunity to nominate someone from their region by e-mail or mail.
Nominee must be from nominator’s region. Nominee must accept the nomination within three weeks of being notified. There can be no more than four (4) directors from each region, and no more than two (2) directors from each state within the region. If there are more than two per state or more than four per region, those with the most nominations will be asked to accept their nomination. If they do not accept their nomination, the nominees with fewer nominations will be the runners-up. Youth may nominate themselves in this part of the election process.
New director nominations counted and released in October.
Advisor/Assistant
All nominations from youth must be turned in by September 20. The new directors will then choose an Advisor and Assistant Advisor for their year, by nomination and election. Directors will nominate an Advisor and an Assistant. Only directors are available for nomination. Directors may NOT nominate themselves. If any one director is nominated for both positions, he/she will be asked to choose which position to run for. Ballots will be made and sent to all directors, who will vote and send in their ballots by January 1. Candidates may NOT vote for themselves.
The new board does not take effect until January 1. The term of all directors lasts until December 31. If there are NO directors from any one region during the term year, youth from that region may nominate themselves and fill in the role of director for that region.
-------------------------------------------------
I've been thinking since the convention that this board should act as a transition board, remaining the active board until Dec. 31 of NEXT year so that we can continue to organize and set up everything. (We could still accept additional directors from regions who haven't filled all slots, or from regions without directors.) Hopefully by October of next year we could be able to finalize the 2007 directors and have a smooth transition/handoff between '06 and '07. What do you all think of that?
Hey guys. Based on the election we held at the Youth meeting at the
POA Internatonal (majority rules) your new POA Youth Advisor is Shane
Hampton and the POA Assistsant Advisor is Shalene Shingelton. I know
they will do a wonderful job . . . work with them and make this Youth
Advisory Board better than ever!! I'm still around in case you have
any questions.
Thanks,
Daniella
yea I think thats the best Idea just because of the ammount of people and it will minimize us taking time to tell people about it because they'll already b there!

The meeting will be after the Pizza Party. I had a little thing in the POA magazine a few months ago reminding everyone to come to the pizza party and stay after for the meeting. The Pizza Party is on Saturday evening July 16th. Hope to see you all there!

Hopefully she will take the orders later. That would be a good thing to do. And we would probably have to add on to the price a mandatory shipping, but I dont think that that'll be a problem with most people.
Subject: Re: [poayouthdirectors] Gaming Shirts and Hi-Ponts
I was planning on taking copies of orderforms to the Midwest Regional and I'm sending some to our Midamerica regional tomorrow for Allison M to hand out, but I just read on POATalk that Michelle needs all the orders by July 5 in order to have them ready by international. I'm hoping that MAYBE she'll be able to take orders a couple of days after that since several of us were just going to take orders at our regionals, which aren't until the July 4 weekend or later...
Maybe we can even take orders after the International but with a mandatory shipping fee since we can't give the late ones to people at a show. I'm not sure what the deal is with the printing place but I'm sure it's pretty tough to get it all organized so we were lucky to have Michelle helping us.
Anyway I'll email her but I don't think I'm going to get a response since we're leaving at 6 in the morning.

I would also like to see that the money go towards the Gaming high points. I am going to make some copies and take them to the SE Reg. and put them in the office or something. The stickers are a good idea, and maybe you could get fun little sayings put on them too. Like Got Spots ? or something! Just a thought!
Subject: Re: [poayouthdirectors] Gaming Shirts and Hi-Ponts
We just got back from the Western Classic today, Thursday, four days after the show ended. We had a ton of truck problems before we left and when we were in the middle of arizona, but we're all okay and the horses are too (even though they had to sleep outside in corrals in the middle of a 60 MPH wind all day long.
Daniella did a REALLY good job selling the shirts at the Western Classic! She worked really hard and I think she sold a lot of shirts!
Also I'm going to print out a bunch of the order forms and take them to the Midwest regional in SD. I wish I could have thought of this BEFORE we left Utah, and then I could have taken the sample shirts and other information from Daniella to help sell them. But I'm sure people will buy them anyway.
The truck/trailer logos sound like a fun idea, but that sounds like something that should be more generalized, like having the POAC logo or crossed ponies rather than the gaming logo.
I'd like to see the money used for having 3 separate gaming high point awards. After all, it is the people that do games providing the money so let's give back to them. I assume we would just have to sponsor the awards, and the national office would take care of it from there.
Well even if no one emails them to you, you can collect the nominations directly from most of the directors at the International. It was hard to pick so maybe some people just couldn't decide. I'll remind some of them when I see them in SD.
