Hopefully someone has more details, but I think that Bright Zip passed on 4 or 5 years ago. I remember reading that his blindness was the result of a reaction to medication he was being treated with, not "moon blindness" that is commonly thought of in apps.
I have an older app that's had intermittent uveitis for years now. She gets along very well with no special change to her environment needed. But her blindness is gradual so I'm sure that plays a big role in her acceptance. On the other hand, Bright Zip's blindness was sudden. With all that he did to say that he was trusting and accepting is putting it lightly!
Sharing your experiences for others who may face a similar situation is a great idea!

Does anyone know if John's horse, Bright Zip, is still alive? I saw
him at Equine Affaire years ago after he went blind, but haven't heard
if Zip is still with us or not. How ironic, because my own horse went
blind. I am thinking of writing the story of my blind horse to help
others who may get into that situation. When it happened for me, it
was such an emotional time and I got bad information from "well-
meaning" people. Anyway, Zip seemed luck such a special horse, but I
know he'd have to be pretty old by now if he's still alive.
