Its that time of year again! Time to get out the curry comb &
leather cleaner, call the farrier, hook up the trailer & saddle up!
Its time to ride with the Platte River Riders: Nebraska's once a week
adult riding club!
The success of the Platte River Riders has been the riders! Shh,
don't tell anyone… between injury & our work schedules, Robyn & I
only made it to a combined 7 rides! We built it, but you came and
rode and made new friends!
At our final ride last fall, we did an informal survey. The
overwhelming response was to leave the rides on Wednesdays. And
since the ride is sometimes coined as the "Wednesday Ride", it seems
appropriate not to change it. We have, however, made some minor
changes that we hope you will like.
A few surveys indicated a desire to have two scheduled rides for
those who logistically couldn't make it from home to the scheduled
ride. We struggled with this as the PRR affords riders the
opportunity to make new friends & explore new trails and this would
definitely divide the group geographically. So we met you half way!
Twice a month there will be a single group rides. And every other
week, there will be rides scheduled at two locations. We hope you'll
find this a fair compromise. The cohesiveness of this group is very
important to us.
This note contains a sneak preview of the ride schedule. Rides will
be posted soon on http://www.horsetrailriders.com/prr.htm . Be sure &
tell other riders to join this Yahoo group for the latest updates on
the club, weather reports, schedule changes, etc.
The first ride will be Wednesday, April 12 at Two Rivers. Although
most PRR start at 7:00, lets see if we can't be saddled & ready to
ride by 6:45 since there is not a lot of daylight yet. Two Rivers
offers fewer trails than some of the other parks, so we felt it was
appropriate while the evenings are still a bit short. Nebraska state
park permits are needed at Two Rivers and can be purchased at the
bait shop.
See you on the trail!
Robyn & Tammy
