If attending Expo, I want to encourage you all to attend the Women & Horses
presentation in the lecture room featuring Julie Suhr, Lanie Frick & Scot
Hansen. I've
asked all three of these presenters to speak about the bond between women &
horses and
some of the effects. I've talked to all of them about some of the things we
talk about
on this list and what inspires us.
Julie Suhr is 83 years old. She has competed in over 25 100 miles Tevis Cup
endurance
rides as well as rode in many many countries. Although she rode as a child, she
never
got back into horses until her children were grown & she was in her 40's. She
is going
to talk about pursuing your riding dreams regardless of your age. She will also
have a
booth with her books located next to our local NECTRA booth. Proceeds from her
book,
Ten Feet Tall Still go to trail preservation.
Lanie Frick is a clinician, singer and artist. In the past she has done a lot
of
clinics in Missouri, but she has started to focus now on her creative side. She
is
going to talk about how horses insprire creativity. Lanie will also have a
booth & be
selling artwork. (psst... she commissions work, too!)
Both Lanie & Julie are featured in Pony Boys first book, Of Women & Horses.
Ifyou have
it, bring it to be autographed.
Scot Hansen is a retired Canadian mounted policeman. He is doing some clinics
for Expo
on safety on the trail. But he is designing a presentation for Women & Horses
on fear;
reasonable or unreasonable.
The Ridin' Thur Life saddle club is putting together some AWESOME gift backs and
there
will be drawings for these bags at every presentation. Wahl clippers,
pedometers, and
bit warmers are just a few of the items in these must have bags!
Please tell your friends about Women & Horses at Expo! I hope to see you there!
