When I say "pasture pet", I'm talking one that hasn't been
ridden all season, overweight & out of shape. Seems when you
have a group ride, people pull out all kinds! The hills are not
as steep or long as those at Indian Cave or Turkey Creek, but
they are good climbs & will elevate a horse's respirations.
Most recover rather quickly, if they are horses that have been
ridden regularly or are in decent shape. Blue, for instance,
although not ridden much this year, is in good enough shape to
handle them. I'm sure your Bella would be, too, and Joel's
Outlaw.

I put the warning out as a few of us remember riding with a guy
at Camp Moses who had pulled his horse from pasture who hadn't
been ridden hardly at all AND had sore feet. It hurt us to see
that horse struggle trying to recover from the climbs. We also
rode with a gal that was scared to go down a hill and wanted to
turn around half way down AND pass all the riders in progress of
going down. There are some who think the Oak Creek Trail off
the limestone is a challenge, so I just want people to know that
Camp Moses isn't Two Rivers. Its not flat & to be prepared.

As we did last year, we will route this ride around the big
climbs as it is safer with big groups, but riders should still
be prepared that we are on flat land.
