Latest Fantasy Player News
Quarterback

QB | Michael Vick | Free Agent | Free Agency News
The Associated Press reports free-agent QB Michael Vick (Falcons) would give up
more of his future income under a revised bankruptcy plan. Vick's lawyer, Paul
Campsen, disclosed the basic outline of the new plan Tuesday, June 30, in U.S.
Bankruptcy Court in Norfolk, Va. The full plan is still being finished. It's due
to be filed by Thursday, July 2. Under the new plan, Campsen said 10 percent of
the first $750,000 Vick earns would go to creditors. Under the old plan, Vick
would have kept the entire amount up to $750,000. The new plan also increases
the amount it would pay creditors on income over $750,000.

QB | Kerry Collins | Tennessee Titans | Fantasy
Terry McCormick, of The City Paper, reports Tennessee Titans QB Kerry Collins
believes the team's passing game will be improved in 2009, thanks to an upgrade
in personnel. "I thought we made good strides this offseason. Offensively, we
built on things that we did well last year. We implemented some things that are
going to help us and from a personnel standpoint we've gotten better. I'm
excited about it," Collins said. "I just think overall as far as the passing
game, I'd like to be more productive, score more, and I'd like to throw more
than 12 touchdowns. If we can just step it up a little bit and be more prolific
from a passing standpoint. I think that should be a goal of ours."

QB | Tyler Thigpen | Kansas City Chiefs | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Dan Armonaitis, of the Spartanburg Herald-Journal, reports Kansas City Chiefs QB
Tyler Thigpen said he is comfortable being the team's No. 2 quarterback behind
QB Matt Cassel. "They've got a lot of money invested in (Cassel), and I'm
comfortable being behind him," Thigpen said. "I'm going to support him and do
anything that I can to make him better. I'm a team player and not just an
individual."

QB | Mark Sanchez | New York Jets | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Eric Allen, of NewYorkJets.com, reports New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez said he is
confident of earning the team's starting quarterback job. Sanchez is competing
with QB Kellen Clemens for the spot. "For me, I feel like I'm going to be on the
field and that's what you always want to do. You don't grow up dreaming of being
a backup, so I'm going to go for it," Sanchez said. "I know Kellen's going to do
the same thing, and it's going to be a great competition and I'm excited to
compete with him."

QB | Luke McCown | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Depth Chart Tidbit
Rick Stroud, of the St. Petersburg Times, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers general
manager Mark Dominik said the competition between QBs Luke McCown and Byron
Leftwich is extremely close and indicated a decision might not be made until the
end of the preseason. "It should be very wide open," Dominik said. "The
competition still is ongoing. The important thing about what they did in the
OTAs as a group is that they got a foundation of the offense and showed an
ability to grasp it mentally and then go out and operate it on the field. That's
why we're anxious to put the pads on and see how they do in the (preseason)
games."

QB | Josh Freeman | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Depth Chart Tidbit
Rick Stroud, of the St. Petersburg Times, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers general
manager Mark Dominik would prefer QB Josh Freeman not be the team's starting
quarterback this season. Not right away, at least. "The ultimate goal is to let
Josh Freeman sit back and learn," Dominik said. "I still think he's a
21-year-old quarterback who came out as a true junior. You'd like for him to
grow and mature into his role and not be forced into it."

QB | Carson Palmer | Cincinnati Bengals | Injury News, Fantasy
Carlos Holmes, of the Dayton Daily News, reports Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson
Palmer (elbow) is still trying to work on improving his arm strength and plans
to throw a lot before and during training camp. "It's just like when a track guy
needs to get faster. You don't do 5,000 squats, you run and run some more. To
get your arm in shape you throw and continue to throw. So I will be throwing all
summer long as well as in training camp," Palmer said.

Running Back

RB | Ronnie Brown | Miami Dolphins | Fantasy
David J. Neal, of The Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins RB Ronnie Brown is in
great shape and has looked explosive during offseason workouts. "As far as shape
goes, he's outstanding right now," head coach Tony Sparano said. "That sounds
like a company line, but I mean it. In the weight room the guy is super right
now. He weighs 230 pounds, he's running better, he is stronger, so all of those
things from a progress standpoint I see as positives."

RB | LeSean McCoy | Philadelphia Eagles | Transaction
Agent Drew Rosenhaus wrote on his Twitter page that the Philadelphia Eagles have
agreed to terms on a four-year deal with second-round draft choice RB LeSean
McCoy. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

RB | Chris Johnson | Tennessee Titans | Fantasy
Jim Wyatt, of The Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson said he
knows people are saying he is not a "team guy" based off his recent comments
about wanting to be known as "Every Coach's Dream." Johnson said he is an
entertaining guy and people have the wrong opinion about him after the comments.
"People just can't get sensitive off a nickname," Johnson noted. He said there
are not any problems between he and RB LenDale White. "We love playing with each
other. We're friends," Johnson said.

Wide Receiver

WR | Santonio Holmes | Pittsburgh Steelers | Fantasy
John Harris, of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, reports Pittsburgh Steelers WR
Santonio Holmes said he has bulked up to 201 pounds this offseason. Holmes
played in the 190-pound range last season and joined the league weighing
considerably less.

WR | Brandon Marshall | Denver Broncos | Fantasy
Bill Williamson, of ESPN.com, reports the Denver Broncos still have no plans to
trade WR Brandon Marshall and expect him to show up for training camp. If
Marshall doesn't report for the beginning of camp, the team still expects
Marshall to eventually show up. The Broncos know they hold all the cards. If
Marshall doesn't show up in 2009, he won't be paid. A prospective free agent in
2010, there is little chance Marshall will risk missing an entire season.

WR | Percy Harvin | Minnesota Vikings | Fantasy
Steve Wyche, of NFL.com, reports Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin was sent home
from the NFL Rookie Symposium after becoming ill, according to organizers.
Harvin was officially excused by organizers after it was recommend that he
return home.

WR | Plaxico Burress | Free Agent | Free Agency News
Kevin Seifert, of ESPN.com, reports the Chicago Bears likely will not pursue
unrestricted free-agent WR Plaxico Burress (Giants), according to ESPN's John
Clayton.

WR | T.J. Houshmandzadeh | Seattle Seahawks | Fantasy
Greg Johns, of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, reports Seattle Seahawks WR T.J.
Houshmandzadeh said during an interview with the Sporting News that the team
will make the playoffs this season. Houshmandzadeh also predicted Pro Bowl
nominations for himself and QB Matt Hasselbeck. "I just want to let everyone
know that Matt Hasselbeck and I will be leading the Seahawks to the playoffs
this season," Houshmandzadeh said. "And we'll be going to the Pro Bowl as a
tandem. We're both going to have top five seasons: He'll have a top five
quarterback season, and I'll have a top five receiving season. I'll put up stats
I've never had before yards-wise because they're allowing me to be a complete
receiver."

WR | Braylon Edwards | Cleveland Browns | Fantasy
Calvin Watkins, of AOL Sports FanHouse, reports Cleveland Browns WR Braylon
Edwards said he is committed to staying with the team, even though the Browns
tried to trade Edwards this offseason. "I never said I wanted to go," Edwards
said. "The Browns tried to put a trade out there. It's always about progress in
any level of sport. It will always be business. Trades happen, releases happen,
I never took it personal. They thought highly enough of me to ask for a lot and
in doing so, the Giants couldn't give the Browns what they wanted. It's a
business."

Tight End

TE | Zach Miller | Jacksonville Jaguars | Transaction
Michael C. Wright, of The Florida Times-Union, reports Jacksonville Jaguars
sixth-round draft pick TE Zach Miller signed a four-year deal for minimum
salaries with escalators and a signing bonus of approximately $111,000.

Until next time, enjoy your day!

"I know people are saying I want to be an individual, that I'm not a team guy,''
Johnson said Friday. "All I want is a new nickname, and it's in fun. I am an
entertaining guy. I like guys like Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson (Ochocinco)
and the entertainment they bring to the game. And it's not that LenDale and I
don't like each other anymore either. We love playing with each other. We're
friends.

"I think people have gotten the wrong idea about it. People just can't get
sensitive off a nickname. They say you can't give your own self a nickname, but
we gave ourselves Smash and Dash.''

Tom Curran, of ProFootballTalk.com, reports the agent for free-agent RB Edgerrin

Edge that he goes to a good situation. He would like an opportunity to have a
significant role and a great opportunity for playing time,' Rosenhaus said. 'We
may wait until right before camp and see what teams have the greatest need. We
may wait until during or after camps when teams are dealing with injuries.'

Subject: Market Watch - Uggla barely hitting his weight
saintgaz
Offline Offline
Send Email Send Email

You knew that Dan Uggla (2B, FLA) wouldn't be hitting .300 anytime soon, but
this is ridiculous. Uggla is hitting .213, and has been consistently low since
Opening Day. The saving grace, if any, is his run production: 13 HR and 42 RBI.
But that average is a fantasy anchor, no question. Is there a turnaround coming?

Year AB Avg xBA bb% ct% h% Eye PX G/ L/ F hr/f
====  ===  ===  ===  ==  ==  ==  ====  ===  ========  ====
2007 632 .245 .253 10 74 29 0.41 162 34/16/41 13%
2008 531 .260 .268 13 68 32 0.45 189 36/16/48 18%
2009 239 .213 .253 14 76 22 0.68 136 32/17/51 14%

Clearly, Uggla deserves better than his .213 average. His power is down some
from last year, but it's still well above average, and is accompanied by a high
walk rate and improved contact rate. The 22% hit rate should improve from here
on out. We project Uggla for 15 HR and 51 RBI for the balance of the year, and
if he can get his average up to .245, that's a reasonable tradeoff. If you're
going to buy, now is the time.

Subject: Market Watch - Pena's power comes with a cost
saintgaz
Offline Offline
Send Email Send Email

Carlos Pena (1B, TAM) connected again over the weekend, going deep for a
league-leading 22nd time. Though he's on a HR pace similar to his 2007 breakout
season, odds are against an all-around repeat:

Year AB BA xBA bb% ct% PX hr/f
====   ===  ====  ====  ===  ===  ===  ====
2006* 451 .249 .258 12 76 115 18%
2007 490 .282 .308 17 71 233 30%
2008 490 .247 .250 16 66 181 19%
2009 247 .235 .265 17 64 238 24%
   *includes MLE

Pena's 2007, with a .282 BA and 1.033 OPS, is looking more and more like the
outlier. There was nothing abnormal about his hit rate (30% that season), but an
inflated hr/f got him into the 40-homer club. With his history of .250ish xBAs
and a established hr/f rate in the 18-24% range, the deck is stacked against
Pena seeing a BA much north of .260 when 2009 is said and done. Most of all, a
contact rate that the Forecaster called "troublesome" before the season has only
gotten worse. A big reason for the 22 bombs? An unsustainable 60% fly-ball rate
(he's put 45% and 50% of batted balls in the air the past two seasons). So while
Pena may reach 40 HRs yet again, he's a power-only pony at this point.

Send Email Send Email

Ricky Nolasco (RHP, FLA) tossed his third consecutive PQS-DOM and won his fourth
game of the season in FLA's 5-2 win over FLA Wednesday. Nolasco's minor league
stint seems to have righted his ship, as even his pre-game June numbers were
suggesting – but a few things really haven't changed that much.

Mo IP ERA xERA Ctl Dom Cmd H% S% G/L/F BPV
====  ==   ====  ====  ===  ===  ===  ==  ==  ========  ===
Apr 26 6.92 4.62 3.1 7.6 2.4 39 57 37/29/34 66
May 17 12.23 5.33 2.0 7.6 3.8 42 38 26/23/51 86
Jun 18 2.50 3.92 2.0 9.0 4.5 31 79 32/18/50 118

Clearly Nolasco had skills prior to being demoted, but aside from outstanding
dominance and control, he is also a FB pitcher who was having some horrendous
luck – and likely leaving too many pitches in the wrong part of the strike zone
at the wrong time, as suggested by the elevated LD rates in April and May. Some
time away, some H% and S% regression, a slight Cmd up-tick, and voila, the
bottom line is looking completely different – even though the early season base
skills weren't that bad to begin with. The tell now is that Nolasco has given up
one HR in his last 25 IP, compared with a 1.6 hr/9 for April and May. He might
not reach his 2008 peak, but Ricky Nolasco is well worth owning again.

Subject: Market Watch - Bailey's skills ready to close
saintgaz

It's a rule that saves-challenged owners cling to at the end of drafts every
March: New closers emerge every season. This year's model, Andrew Bailey (RHP,
OAK), has pitched a scoreless June except for one outing, and picked up six of
his eight saves during the period. The rookie's BPI are mostly favorable going
forward:

Year IP ERA Ctl Dom Cmd hr/9 BPV
====   ===  ====  ===  ====  ===  ====  ===
2009 44 2.23 3.7 10.2 2.8 0.9 96

With 50 K in 44.1 IP, Bailey throws gas and for the most part, has been able to
keep his Ctl in check. His ERA has been helped by a 25% hit rate, so it will
continue to move closer to his 3.73 xERA. But the overall skills package from a
25-year-old who barely made the team is impressive. He'll need to keep tabs on
his FB rate (47%), but the spacious Oakland park is forgiving in that regard
(-11% RS). The challenges of negotiating the closer role over a full season are
still ahead, but from the limited data set we have, Bailey seems well-prepared
for the task.

Latest Fantasy Player News
Quarterback

QB | Brett Favre | Retired | Injury News
Charley Walters, of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, reports retired QB Brett Favre
(shoulder) reportedly had his throwing shoulder examined Monday, June 22.

QB | Aaron Rodgers | Green Bay Packers | Fantasy
Lori Nickel, of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers QB
Aaron Rodgers plans to work out at his home in San Diego when the team's
minicamp concludes. He is listed at 220 pounds, but head coach Mike McCarthy has
been on Rodgers to maintain a certain weight. It appears Rodgers is up a little,
as he said he would like to shed a few pounds in the coming weeks.

QB | Jay Cutler | Chicago Bears | Fantasy
Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler said after
the team's final OTA that he is 100 percent comfortable with the wide receivers
the Bears have on roster. "We're good to go," Cutler noted. He went on to say he
feels the Bears have more than enough talent to compete. The Bears are looking
for Cutler to raise the level of play of the wide receivers. "You don't win
because of wide receivers. You don't win because of running backs. You win
because of the quarterback," general manager Jerry Angelo said.

Running Back

RB | Ladell Betts | Washington Redskins | Fantasy
Paul Tenorio, of The Washington Post, reports Washington Redskins RB Ladell
Betts may get more carries this season because the team wants to keep RB Clinton
Portis healthy.

RB | LaMont Jordan | Denver Broncos | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Lindsay H. Jones, of The Denver Post, reports Denver Broncos RB LaMont Jordan
took most of the first-string carries during spring workouts.

RB | Correll Buckhalter | Denver Broncos | Fantasy
Lindsay H. Jones, of The Denver Post, reports Denver Broncos head coach Josh
McDaniels said the team targeted RB Correll Buckhalter during the offseason
because he can be a multidimensional player for the team. He can succeed in a
role as a traditional running back and also help in the passing game as a
blocker or a receiving back. "His body is young," McDaniels said. "He just might
be, as a matter of fact, I think he is, our fastest back. He's got a great burst
and he's got a great long speed," McDaniels said.

RB | Chris Johnson | Tennessee Titans | Fantasy
Jim Wyatt, of The Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher
isn't sure RB Chris Johnson's self-proclaimed nickname, "Every Coach's Dream,"
fits. "Maybe with a few exceptions - playing the bongos ... and getting hurt in
the playoff game," Fisher said. "I'm sure they'll come up with something else,"
Fisher said. "Dumb and Dumber or something." RB LenDale White also chimed in.
"He's a little delirious. When he wakes up out of the dream he'll be all right.
And the one thing about dreams is they are not real," White added. "I don't know
him right now. I think it's the Pro Bowl stuff - ya'll created somebody we!
don't want to see."

RB | Brandon Jacobs | New York Giants | Fantasy
Mike Garafolo, of the Newark Star-Ledger, reports New York Giants RB Brandon
Jacobs said one of his goals this season is to stay healthy and play in every
game.

RB | Ryan Grant | Green Bay Packers | Injury News, Fantasy
Lori Nickel, of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers RB
Ryan Grant said the hamstring injury he had at the start of the 2008 season
hampered what he was able to do. This year he wants to break long-distance runs.
He had a 57-yard run in the season opener, but failed to rush for longer than 22
yards on a play the rest of the way. "The explosion on the big run is a big
thing for me and I'm getting that back. I'm able to do that now because my legs
are strong. I can do whatever I want, training-wise," Grant said.

Fullback

FB | Peyton Hillis | Denver Broncos | Injury News, Fantasy
Lindsay H. Jones, of The Denver Post, reports Denver Broncos FB Peyton Hillis
(hamstring) is fully recovered from his hamstring injury.

FB | Brad Hoover | Carolina Panthers | Depth Chart Tidbit
Steve Reed, of CarolinaGrowl.com, reports Carolina Panthers FB Brad Hoover will
be challenged for the starting fullback duties by rookie FB Tony Fiammetta, a
fifth-round draft choice. Hoover is used to having to fight to keep his job, but
he turns 33 this season and his body has taken some abuse over the last 10
seasons. Hoover said he's trying to show Fiammetta the ropes, but noted he isn't
showing the rookie everything. Hoover said both players need to approach the
situation as if they're fighting for a position.

Wide Receiver

WR | Nate Washington | Tennessee Titans | Fantasy
Jim Wyatt, of The Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans WR Nate Washington
estimated he has learned 85 percent of the Titans' offense so far. Washington
will take several DVDs home with him when camp breaks so he can watch the spots
he is supposed to be, how certain routes are supposed to be run. He also said he
will be in constant contact with the coaches and working out like crazy.

WR | Kenny Britt | Tennessee Titans | Injury News, Fantasy
Jim Wyatt, of The Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans rookie WR Kenny Britt
(hamstring) remained sidelined Wednesday, June 24, due to an ongoing hamstring
injury.

WR | Marvin Harrison | Free Agent | Free Agency News
Charley Walters, of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, reports the Minnesota Vikings
are apparently interested in signing unrestricted free-agent WR Marvin Harrison
(Colts) to a one-year contract in order to compete with WR Sidney Rice.

WR | Ramses Barden | New York Giants | Transaction
Michael Eisen, of Giants.com, reports the New York Giants have signed
third-round draft choice WR Ramses Barden. Terms of the contract were not
disclosed.

WR | Greg Jennings | Green Bay Packers | Transaction, Fantasy
Updating previous reports, the Green Bay Packers officially announced they have
signed WR Greg Jennings to a long-term extension. Details of the deal were not
disclosed, but it is believed to run through the 2012 season.

Tight End

TE | Alge Crumpler | Tennessee Titans | Fantasy
Jim Wyatt, of The Nashville Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans TE Alge
Crumpler has been trying to help TE Jared Cook with different things during
offseason workouts. "Crump is like a coach. Crump has been around the league a
long time and he just knows - he has a lot of wisdom to share. Every time I come
off the field he'll tell me little things, tell me things I need to correct,
which is very helpful, especially in the meeting rooms and when we're watching
film. It's just great to have someone like that around, a big savvy guy who
knows a lot and can teach you a lot. I learn something from him every day," Cook
said.

Until next time, enjoy your day!

present moment. There's no problem.'

Source: Carlos Holmes, The Dayton Daily News

Carlos Holmes, of The Dayton Daily News, reports Cincinnati Bengals RB Bernard
Scott was impressive during the team's minicamp. He was quick, fast and elusive.
Scott made a number of nice cutback runs for big gains and was exciting to
watch. He received a lot of reps, which means the team could have high
expectations for him.

Source: Vito Stellino, The Florida Times-Union

Vito Stellino, of The Florida Times-Union, reports the Jacksonville Jaguars
believe WR Torry Holt will make a major impact both on and off the field this
season. 'I think the one thing that Torry has brought is a level of trust for
David (Garrard), so he's aware that at third-and-7, he's going to run more than
seven yards. I think that'll be a good thing for David,' general manager Gene
Smith said.

Source: Terry Pluto, The Cleveland Plain Dealer

Terry Pluto, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports odds are that Cleveland
Browns WR Braylon Edwards will remain with the team this season, unless a team
comes out of nowhere with a huge trade offer late in training camp because a
receiver is hurt and is desperate for a replacement. Edwards has been doing what
the coaches have asked of him so far this offseason.

WR Chad Ochocinco remains his top target within the team's offense. 'He's going
to play (the lead role) because he deserves to play there,' Palmer said. 'He's
been one of the best receivers in this league for a long time. He's still able
to play at that level, and still capable of making big plays and carrying the
load offensively at the receiver spot, so he will.'

Source: Vito Stellino, The Florida Times-Union

Vito Stellino, of The Florida Times-Union, reports one of the reasons the
Jacksonville Jaguars feel optimistic about the 2009 season is an improved team
chemistry and atmosphere after the departure of several players who had
character issues or who were unproductive on the field. 'We had some things
going on, and coach (Jack) Del Rio took care of that and (general manager) Gene

Kevin Seifert, of ESPN.com, reports Green Bay Packers LB Aaron Kampman said he
believes the team can be successful in their new 3-4 defensive alignment if they

Kampman said.

Subject: KFFL NFL E-Wire: Fantasy Analysis Draft Continues!
saintgaz
Offline Offline
Send Email Send Email

Hello, KFFLians -

Our popular fantasy analysis draft continues!

The first of two analysis drafts scheduled for this summer, KFFL.com's team goes
round-by-round with analysis on each pick made. This one is a 12-team, 16-round
draft with a combination-PPR scoring format.

Here is how the third round kicked off. You can access the rest of it and more
exclusively at KFFL.com:
Fantasy Analysis Draft: Round 3

1) Marshawn Lynch, running back, Buffalo Bills

Team: Ilan Mochari | Team Roster

Reason: The temptation to assemble a dominant core of PPR running backs - Matt
Forte, Reggie Bush and Marshawn Lynch - was irresistible. With Bush and Forte in
the fold, I can weather Lynch's three-game suspension. There's even a chance
I'll grab Lynch's backup, running back Fred Jackson, in Round 6. Also, after
assessing the remaining talent in the draft pool, I became confident I could
find two high-end wide receivers with my back-to-back picks at the end of Round
4.

Others Considered: Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith

Standards Set: Entering his third season in the same system, Lynch should top
last year's impressive 89.1 yards from scrimmage per game. Even in a 13-game
campaign, he should amass 1,200 yards from scrimmage and score seven touchdowns.

2) Anquan Boldin, Wide Receiver, Arizona Cardinals

Team: Mike Egnak | Team Roster

Reason: All talk this offseason has been about Boldin's contract dispute, but
lost in that is how well he performed last year. Boldin finished with a
career-high 11 touchdowns to go along with his 89 receptions and 1,038 receiving
yards, despite an injury-filled year that included him missing four games.
Quarterback Kurt Warner also agreed to come back for another two seasons, which
should help keep Boldin's numbers high for next year.

Others Considered: Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White

Standards Set: Boldin should be able to pull in at least 85 receptions for 1,050
receiving yards next year. I'd like to see 10 touchdowns out of him, but seven
or eight is probably a more likely number. It would be nice to see him stay off
the injury report a little more often this year, as well.

3) Drew Brees, quarterback, New Orleans Saints

Team: John Kotch Jr. | Team Roster

Reason: In 2008, Brees threw for a league-leading 5,069 yards, and he tossed 34
touchdown passes. With Saints wide receiver Marques Colston back healthy this
year, along with the emergence of No. 2 wide receiver Lance Moore and running
back Pierre Thomas, my objective was to snag a top quarterback who I felt was
totally capable of approaching last year's high level of production.

Others Considered: Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning

Standards Set: Even with everybody back healthy, it would hard for Brees to best
last year's numbers. However, in 2009 I expect Brees to maintain the standard
he's set since he arrived in New Orleans and throw for 4,500 yards with 30
touchdowns.

4) Greg Jennings, wide receiver, Green Bay Packers

Team: Bryce McRae | Team Roster

Reason: I needed a No. 1 receiver because I didn't see one falling back to me in
the fourth round. Jennings was the top on my board. He's the No. 1 target on a
strong passing offense. He has great ability after the catch, and he's shown
steady improvement each year. Green Bay's defense should be weaker this year
than last, at least initially, so the Packers might be throwing a lot to catch
up.

Others Considered: None

Standards Set: I'm hoping for at least 80 receptions, 1,200 yards and 10
touchdowns from Jennings.

best receivers in the NFL. I think he can be one of the greatest ever to play.
He's big and fast, and can do everything you want him to do, on the field and in

The first of two analysis drafts scheduled for this summer, KFFL.com's team goes
round-by-round with analysis on each pick made. This one is a 12-team, 16-round
draft with a combination-PPR scoring format.

Who was selected where? What other players were considered at the time? What are
we looking for with the pick in order for it to be a success?

Those questions and more are answered with each pick. Join us. Question our
picks, sound off on the ones you agree with and let us know which team(s) you
think are standing out!

Here is how the second round kicked off. You can access the rest of it and more
exclusively at KFFL.com: http://www.kffl.com/fantasy-football/draft-guide/
Fantasy Analysis Draft: Round 2

1) Larry Fitzgerald, wide receiver, Arizona Cardinals

Team: Kostas Bolos | Team Roster

Reason: Debated whether to select a running back in this slot, but Fitzgerald is
a great value pick here. The strategy of drafting wideouts with my first two
picks could backfire, but I am willing to take my chances with what could be
arguably the top two fantasy receivers this season.

Others Considered: Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson, Washington
Redskins running back Clinton Portis.

Standards Set: I fully expect Fitzgerald to have 90-plus receptions, 1,400-plus
yards with 13 touchdowns.

2) Calvin Johnson, wide receiver, Detroit Lions

Team: Ryan R. Bonini | Team Roster

Reason: I hate that I took a receiver this early! However, several same-tier
backs should fall to me in the third, and I anticipate a ton of receivers going
quickly. Johnson, who is KFFL.com's No. 1 rated receiver this year, was targeted
no less than five times in every game last season, including seven games of
double-digit targets. He had five 100-plus-yard games and scored in 10 games.
Everyone knew the ball was going his way, and Johnson STILL had 1,331 yards
receiving and 12 touchdowns. He's a beast. With an improved ground game,
stability at quarterback (maybe) and another year under his belt, he's going to
continue turning heads.

Others Considered: I considered Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis
(again), but I'm wary of his mileage. New England Patriots wide receiver Randy
Moss was also very tempting - and safer - when I opted to go the receiver route.

Standards Set: To think he will do better than his production last year might be
ludicrous, but I think he can match it. I expect his receptions to increase,
with his yards-per-catch decreasing by a yard or two.

3) Clinton Portis, running back, Washington Redskins

Team: Nicholas Minnix | Team Roster

Reason: The running back-by-committee approach is the way of the world these
days. When what is likely the last truly reliable featured back is on the board,
how do you pass that up? Washington's offense will actually have some continuity
in Year 2 under head coach Jim Zorn. Portis still has a couple of road trips
left in him, and he's an underrated pass catcher.

Others Considered: None

Standards Set: Portis is a virtual lock for about 1,300 rushing yards. I'll look
for 30-plus receptions and 10 to 12 total touchdowns. I expect more in all
areas.

4) Brandon Jacobs, running back, New York Giants

Team: Tim Heaney | Team Roster

Reason: Another bruising, non-pass-catching back? I couldn't pass up the
touchdown machine. Sure, Jacobs should miss some time due to his playing style,
but no back matches his combination of athleticism and brutishness. Rookie back
Andre Brown may be the new Derrick Ward, but at this point, only the doctor's
table can truly stop Jacobs.

Others considered: Dallas Cowboys running back Marion Barber III

Standards set: Jacobs should score at least 14 times in a full season of work. I
also expect a base of around 1,300 yards.

We wanted to let you know our popular fantasy analysis draft is underway once
again!

Here is how the first round kicked off. You can access the rest of it and more
exclusively at KFFL.com:

Fantasy Analysis Draft: Round 1
1) Matt Forte, running back, Chicago Bears

Team: Ilan Mochari | Team Roster

Reason: This is a point-per-reception league, and Forte led all running backs
with a whopping 63 catches. He recorded at least three receptions in 13 of 16
games. Not a game went by when he did not rack up at least 75 yards from
scrimmage or score one touchdown. In a PPR format, he is as consistent as they
come. Quarterback Jay Cutler will keep defenses honest; it wouldn't surprise me
if Forte amasses more yards and touchdowns on fewer carries.

Others Considered: Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew

Standards Set: I'm expecting 60-plus catches, 1,800-plus yards from scrimmage
and 15 touchdowns. In other words, I expect a similar total of receptions but
otherwise an increase in productivity across the board.

2) Adrian Peterson, running back, Minnesota Vikings

Team: Mike Egnak | Team Roster

Reason: A year after leading the league in rushing and at just 24 years old,
Peterson was someone I considered as the top pick in fantasy drafts this year.
Even with a shaky quarterback situation last year, there was only one game where
he failed to rush for more than 70 yards. The quarterback situation still isn't
exactly cleared up heading into 2009, but there's potential there with the
addition of Sage Rosenfels, another year of experience for Tarvaris Jackson and
the potential of Brett Favre coming out of retirement to play for the team.

Others Considered: Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner

Standards Set: I'm looking to get at least 1,600 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns
on the ground out of Peterson. He doesn't do much in the passing game, so I'd be
happy with around 20 receptions and 100 receiving yards.

3) Michael Turner, running back, Atlanta Falcons

Team: John Kotch Jr. | Team Roster

Reason: The main reason for drafting Turner was because I knew that Minnesota
Vikings running back Adrian Peterson would most likely be gone. However, Turner
is certainly not a bad second choice. Last year's performance says it all. He
proved himself every bit the every-down workhorse, rushing for 1,699 yards on
376 carries with 17 touchdowns. When I saw that I'd be drafting third, I knew he
was the running back I wanted and that he very likely would be available, so I
snatched him up.

Others Considered: Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson

Standards Set: I'm expecting Turner to approach his 2008 performance in 2009.
However, with the addition of All-Pro tight end Tony Gonzalez to the Falcons
offense, the gut of any opposing defense is apt to be weakened. Therefore,
there's a good chance Turner could even improve on his 2008 numbers. I look for
Turner to compile 350-plus carries, 1,500-plus yards and 15-plus touchdowns in
2009.

4) Maurice Jones-Drew, running back, Jacksonville Jaguars

Team: Bryce McRae | Team Roster

Reason: He was the top back on my board. No Fred Taylor in Jacksonville means
Mo-Jo should have all the room to run. I'm not concerned about the other backs
on the roster (Greg Jones, Rashad Jennings and Chauncey Washington). He's only
5-foot-7, but he's stocky and I believe he has the build to shoulder a full
load.

Others Considered: None

Standards Set: I'm looking for around 1,100 yards and 15 rushing touchdowns.
Through the air, I'm expecting him to catch 55-plus passes for 600 yards and at
least three touchdowns.
