The Minnesota Vikings made their biggest free-agent acquisition of
the off-season, signing former Detroit linebacker Chris Claiborne to
a two-year deal. Claiborne, who's started 58 games in the last four
seasons, is expected to bolster a linebacker corps led by veteran
middle linebacker Greg Biekert. In his four NFL seasons, Claiborne
has 391 tackles, 10.5 sacks and six interceptions.
FANTASY SLANT
Claiborne is a very versatile LB, who can play in the middle or on
the outside. In Detroit, Claiborne played MLB exclusively over the
last two years. In Minnesota, he'll be moved to the outside, with
Greg Biekert playing MLB. With Claiborne's athleticism, the Vikings
will also use him in nickel situations. That extra playing time and
his ability to make plays, will elevate Claiborne's fantasy value
tremendously.
