Priest Holmes rose from relative obscurity of being a capable Fantasy
backup to Fantasy Football elite status over the past two fantasy
seasons in 2001 and 2002.
The question now is, after having Bo Jackson arthroscopic surgery on
his bum hip, will he be able to maintain that status. and two seasons
of overuse could be catching up to Holmes.
An anonymous Chiefs players offered disturbing news about Holmes'
rehabilitation saying Holmes was still in a lot of pain and that his
hip wasn't healing nearly as fast as he thought it would. A second
source confirmed that Holmes' hip is healing significantly slower
than anticipated.
Injury isn't the only fantasy value-sapping issue surrounding him.
Earlier in the offseason, Holmes threatened not to play unless the
Chiefs reworked his contract, scheduled to pay him around $2.5
million in each of the next three years but the injury only weakens
Holmes' bargaining position.
