On Target Trillanes should look at himself in the mirror By Ramon Tulfo Philippine Daily Inquirer DETAINED Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV, in a full-page advertisement in the Philippine Daily Inquirer Monday, reported his achievements last year. He mentioned the bills he co-authored that were passed and the bills he sponsored that are pending in the Senate. “More than legislation, however,” Trillanes said, “I continue to be a voice of defiance against a regime that is reputed to be the most corrupt in our nation’s history.” Aw, c’mon, boy, why didn’t you look at yourself in the mirror first before pointing an accusing finger at President Gloria? Why didn’t you mention the many cars and the house in the exclusive village in Antipolo, Rizal that you owned when you were still in the military? How could you afford to buy those cars and expensive house on your salary as a lieutenant in the Navy? Why didn’t you mention your tiff with a Dutchman and his Filipino wife who claim you grabbed their house and lot in Quezon City? You even sent the Dutchman, Adriaan de Jager, to prison on trumped-up charges. The poor guy spent 15 months at the immigration jail in Bicutan. You know what you did to the couple Annie and Adriaan? Spending for lawyers and other expenses during Adriaan’s incarceration, the De Jagers are now impoverished and dependent on doles from kindhearted people. The only crime the De Jagers committed was to stand up to you to protect their property when you grabbed it from them. Oh, boy, you really used your power as a military officer when you tangled with the De Jagers, both engineers, who left the Netherlands to settle down here! If you were that abusive when you were a mere Navy lieutenant, much more so now that you’re already a senator. When you were in jail at the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (Isafp), you were a problem-detainee as you always quarreled with your jailers. What’s keeping you from being abusive is your being in jail. If only the people who voted for you knew your real character, they would have thought twice before writing your name in their ballots.
