That is a nice park, Jay, rated Woodall's 4W/3W, listed under Duran. Thanks! I will add it to the USAPA site listing. Each one helps! Dave

Great news, Gene! We are TTN members, so this is especially good news. Have not stayed at TW, but now will be much more inclined to try it if they do the TTN deal again.
Every time I hear of one of these conversions, it's VERY useful info in getting more parks to at least convert a little-used tennis court or similar into pickleball. I keep hearing from some parks who aren't convinced the demand is there. What I tell them is those who play, choose other parks, and won't necessarily be vocal about trying to convince non-pickleball courts to build one or convert one. They just choose other parks.
PS: We just ordered one of the portable net kits with the yellow water-fill bases and chalk sticks, but without the 4-paddle and balls kit of the set. Only $70 instead of the $130. Will advise.
Thanks and we hope others here will report on similar gems. Dave

If anyone has any good stats on the growth of pickleball in the U. S., please us know. We are trying to convince RV parks to convert unused tennis, or badmitton, or just open concrete, into a PB court. We know "if you build it, they will come." But stats would be nice. Thanks. Dave

Hi People:
Just returned from South Texas trip and two weeks at Tropic Winds RV
Resort. They have recently purchased equipment and lined off their
tennis court for PICKLEBALL !
Did NOT get to play because the park was almost empty due to flight of
the Snowbirds. TW has this deal with TTN and have 40 sites available
for TTN members until the end of the year (with a possible extention).
If they do extend this plan I most likely will play there this winter.

This will be old news to long-time pickleball players and USAPA members. But for new folks, trying to show folks what this is all about when you aren't at a court, there's a decent online 12-minute video at http://usapa.org/whatis_pball/video_promo.html . It shows mostly doubles play and too little singles play, but it's not bad at all.
I told two RV park system owners to look at the ages and particularly look at 10:30 - 10:40 when it comes to RVers. That's how Sandy and I choose our longer week to two-week park stays when we can.
And in a reply regarding growth stats, Mark Friedenberg said:
>>>When I wrote my book, it was to show people how exciting this sport really is. Many players have come up to me and told me that this sport saved their life.
"Before, I was leading a sedentary life and now I get out every morning and exercise! And it's FUN!"
I get this EVERYWHERE I travel!
I also reach out to everyone who reads my book that people like you, who sell pickleball to others and conduct clinics is the way this sport can grow!!!
I meet MANY RV'ers and all they do is travel from campground to campground and spread the word abouth this exciting sport! Do you know Keith Bisel? He is a fulltime RV'er and has conducted MANY clinics throughout the US!
Hope this helps you too! Another reason to build courts - it saves lives!!!

We have been playing for about 2 years, serious but fun, singles play. We are full-time RVers and belong to many discount and membership systems such as TTN and WHR. We find we enjoy pickleball so much that we plan our park stays in our free time around the parks with pickleball. Favorites are Palm Springs TTN and Desert Pools WHR, plus Catalina Spa under RPI/C2C in the Palm Springs area and Verde Valley TTN and Camp Verde WHR in the Cottonwood, AZ area in the winters.
We are currently at the St. George WHR (Western Horizons Resorts). Unfortunately, their one court was apparently built as an afterthought, right next to a gazebo, with only a 3' perimeter*, particularly bad for baseline deep shot returns common in singles play. It's built on a grass lawn that is a couple inches lower than the concrete, so it's easy to twist an ankle backing up and falling off the concrete. We temporarily fixed some hazards, such as a huge, heavy table with a sharp corner too close to the back of the court, concrete runners, and moved the portable basketball hoop back, which has a vertical pole hard on heads. No fence and the old gazebo lighting is completely inadequate for night play. This concrete is also not level, so it pools water from the adjacent sprinklers on timers for the grass, so you have to squeegee it an hour before play in the mornings.
Bottom line: This one court is maybe okay for light doubles daytime play or serving practice only.
* 30'x60' minimum rec., with one rec. of 26' (3' sides) x 60'. The 8' behind the baselines is important for singles play. 3' is not adequate, especially when you drop down onto wet grass.
Thanks for the list. We watch http://usapa.org/ptp for places to play and look forward to being contributors here. Dave

Please send this on after a short prayer. Prayer for our soldiers.
Prayer:

Prayer Request: When you receive this, please stop for a moment and say a prayer for our troops around the world.
There is nothing attached. Just send this to people in your address book. Do not let it stop with you. Of all the gifts you could give a Marine , US Soldier, Sailor, Airman, & others deployed in harm's way, prayer is the very best one.

Maybe if everyone passes this on, someone will see this child. That is how the girl from Stevens Point was found by circulation of her picture on tv. The internet circulates even overseas, South America, and Canada etc. Thanks
Please pass this to everyone in your address book.
We have a Deli manager (Acme Markets) from Philadelphia, Pa who has a 13 year old daughter who has been missing for 2 weeks. Keep the picture moving on. With GOD on her side she will be found.
"I am asking you all, begging you to please forward this email on to anyone and everyone you know, PLEASE. My 13 year old girl, Ashley Flores, is missing. She has been missing for now two weeks.
It is still not too late. Please help us. If anyone any where knows anything, please contact me at: HelpfindAshleyFlores@yahoocom I am including a picture of her. All prayers are appreciated!! "
It only takes 2 seconds to forward this.
If it was your child, you would want all the help you could get.
Then we have probably played together....I have been here at Orlando TTN during Jan & Feb for the last ten years or longer..... We most likely will stop at Conroe as well this spring.... Seeya .../gene

Pickleball is well and active here at the Thousand Trials Preserve at
Lake Whitney, TX (about 45 miles south of Dallas, TX). We have a group
of about 10 retired folks who play pickleball for about two hours just
about every day, weather permitting. We have two outdoor pickleball
courts. Today, we layed out a downsized pickleball court inside the
Activity Center. The court is only 30' long and 15' wide. We played
for a couple of hours today and it worked ok. You have to hit the ball
a bit softer, but its better than not being able to play at all when
the weather is bad.
Well, I hope that all you other pickleball players are able to play
this winter. Pickleball is also popular at several of the other
Thousand Trails Preserves in various parts of the country.
Take care,
Bob
