Any Boomers out there that play Pickleball?  I know of a few.  Pickleball is the fastest growing sport among seniors in the USA.  There are pockets of areas in the country where it is just huge.  We winter in Surprise, AZ where it's played in the Arizona Senior Olympics.  We have about 2,000 members of Pickleball clubs in that area.  The Villages in Florida also boast some 64 courts.  PB is also available in most TTN parks.  It's a great way for us to stay active and enjoy competition.

We're in Birch Bay, WA right now and I've registered for the Port Angeles Senior Games, September 14-16.  If any others are in the area, you should sign up and play, or at least come by and see the competition.  It's a very fun tournament.

Also, on the same date, there is the San Diego Senior Games, with Pickleball at San Luis Downs Country Club in Bonsall, CA.  Friends, Bev Youngren and Pat Carroll run this and are great folks.  If you're in Southern California, maybe plan on taking that one in.  Tell them hi from us!

If you have trouble registering for these games, drop me a line and I'll help you.  Email me at rvbillndeb@...

Hi, Bill,

Sandy and I love pickleball too,  We play at many of the TTN preserves and some WHRs that have courts.  It took a year, but I finally convinced Hart Ranch Camping Resort in Rapid City, SD to convert 1 of their little used tennis courts into 2 pickleball courts, which is what Bend-Sunriver TTN did with one of theirs, giving that TTN 4 pickleball courts (3 permanent), the 2 new ones fenced and nice.  We love Verde Valley TTN and Camp Verde WHR in that area, bouncing between them as both have pickleball, and Palm Springs TTN and Desert Pools WHR for the same reason.  Boomer Geof Justiss is very good and will be playing in the Sunrise area senior games in the greater Phoenix area again this Jan. - Mar. from our last communications.

There is a small but hopefully growing Yahoo group just for pickleball players to post about new locations:  pickleball@yahoogroups.com

Hugs, from Beaver Crossing City Park, NE.  Dave
