Friends, I have it on pretty good authority (like from Deb,
his wife) that our Prez. Joe Baska won't be running the
"marathud" this Sunday.
He's in Kansas. His father passed away.
I'm sorry to be the one to tell everybody, but I'm also
thinking... that right about now would be a real good time
for us, as a club, to sign and send the family a sympathy
card.
Maybe everyone in the PFRPC who has trained all summer with
Joe (and others of us as well) could sign such a card at the
end of the race, in the tent (whatever tent Joe had planned
on using), and/or at the party afterwards aboard Larry
Meekma's "yacht." (BTW: Thanks, Larry, for hosting this.
I myself won't be able to attend, however, on accounta my
probably ending up in the ambulance...)
[Just kidding! Oh, OK, I'm sorry. This is no time for
joking.]
I'm reminded of how Penny Ploski, as club secretary, took it
upon herself to send me a card... when my mother died.
So, I KNOW what a good group you all are already, and I'd
like to thank you all in advance for sending to Joe what you
once sent to me.
With sorrow and gratitude just the same,
and my own sincerest sympathies to Joe and his family,
Rich Limacher
