8.I do not collect the new age tennis match, but if you want, I can

today Pete lost to some guy from Switzerland, who is ranked 145th in
the world. Poor Pete!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( it was probably that
strain on his lower right rib.
Andre Agassi also lost just for all of you wimbledon follower's.
LIZ :)
"To be great is to be misunderstood," observed Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Will Pete Sampras, a man of great simplicity and simple greatness,
not receive his just historical due because he lacks charisma?
Will his spectacular career somehow suffer from a paradox: he was so
dominating that he played few close and memorable finals and too
seldom enjoyed a true rivalry?
Has he ruled tennis in an image-is- everything era where his classic
virtues no longer found the appreciative following of yesteryear?
In this interview, Sampras speaks about his roots, his relationships,
his reign, his records, and his rivals with the same honesty,
intelligence, and passion that animate his championship performances.
This is an excerpt from a new book just written by award winning Paul
Fein. The book "Tennis Confidential" has some wonderful stuff about
Pete in it, as well as many other great players. Being an avid fan
of Pete, I would like to suggest that you check out Paul's website
www.tennisconfidential.com and find all that is in his new book. I
think you will like what you see.
Go Pete beat Mirnyi!!

It must be Paris. Pete drew a favorable draw for
his run at Roland Garros in an unknown French
qualifier who by the way played college tennis at the U of
Kentucky. Playing for 3 hours and 15 minutes, Pete pulled
the win but barely. His arm pump in the arm befit a
relieved player. Not coming easily is no stranger to Pete.
Sometimes that's our favorite champion to watch. The one
that is digging down so deep in places we don't think
he has and yet having more to give. Pete was
reported as saying, "Just walking the streets here I can
feel the people are really pulling for me. That's
nice." We are pulling for you here too Pete.:-)march
Sadly, Pete lost this week to Safin on clay. Pete
didn't play too badly. He's still gearing up for the
French Open!!!
Sorry the club has been so dead. I
just finished my first year of law school. I'll have a
bit more free time this summer to devote to
Pete.
I can't wait for Wimbledon to start. One of my
friends went to London and brought me back a Wimbeldon
water bottle. It is so cool.
I was flipping channels today and there was
Pete!!!! Happily he was crushing Safin in the year end
championships. Pete is already in the semi-finals tomorrow. He
looked really good and Safin smashed two raquets in
frustration. Pete could still face him again in the finals
because it is a double elimination tournament. However,
by beating him today Pete assured that Safin
wouldn't end the year in the #1 spot!!
Go Pete!!

Lovely picture of Pete and his new Bride in the paper. They tied the knot on
Sept 30 at his home. She wore a Vera Wang and diamonds. Best wishes to the new
couple.
Hey pairadice! Whats with the puffy pants picture?! Are you trying to suggest
that our favorite player is so busy being in love that he is out of shape??
Just checking!! Go Pete!!
Sorry for the lack of postings recently. I have
just started law school. Pete sadly lost in
Cincinnatti to Henman :( I'm kind of glad we didn't go this
year. Although I would have loved to see him again. I
can't wait to the US Open to start!!!
Pete lost in the semifinals in Canada to Safin,
however here is a little tidbit to lift the spirits...I
was reading in "Entertainment Weekly" that Hugh Grant
is preparing to do a movie entitled "2 weeks of
Love". The premise is that Hugh will be an unranked
tennis player who makes it to the final of Wimbleton.
Yea, yea, for Hugh BUT how can they even consider a
Wimbledon story without including the master of the court??
Pete, you've got all those gold cups, how about a
silver screen??
