What gets me is that didn't we just have a lockout due to insane
salaries? And they are creeping back up again. The new CBA was
nothing but a temporary measure to protect greedy careless owners from
their own egos and bad business sense - and now they will be back
where they started from.

I don't see Finger as having enough of an NHL career to really call
him a great. There's plenty of time for him to become mediocre.
Detroit develops its talent from the beginning. No team has that
scouting nor patience.

Lacroix was too concerned with his son than the future...Avs ownership
is unstable and not constructive...the future will not be great.

Maybe Jagr will like the Russian trash....seems more of his speed. I
was shocked he didn't like the Pittsburgh parasites...gotta be some
beauties there.

So your kids are born into it too eh? The apple never falls far from
the tree. You better hope they can afford good personal security -
they will be targets in the upcoming brave new world. The inheritance
elite of this dying society deserve to meet an unfortunate end more often.

I bet your girl won't marry a guy with an income near the statistical
average...

Why should supposed humiliation be worth millions?

Why should someone who marries for status and cash be entitled to
decent and faithful treatment?

No, it's just what kids say when they don't do what you ask them to do, because
they think
parents are stupid and they won't get into trouble for "forgetting" as opposed
to doing what's
expected.

My kids have more money then me, I doubt they will become someone's parasite.

Yup, I read that too - Hossa going to Detroit! Why don't they just
give them the Stanley Cup next season?

Yeah, Finger is getting an insane amount of money. I thought it was a
typo in the paper when I first read it. You certainly don't want to
see hockey go the way of pro baskeball where unproven players become
instant millionaires. Where's the incentive in that?

I do think Finger is outstanding, though - he's everywhere on the ice
doing the right things. Seeing him in person a few times convinced
me. Let's put it this way - Detroit wouldn't have let him go.

I'm so irritated with the Avs management. *We* used to be both rich
and smart. [sniff]

Did you see how much Finger got? Insane amount of money relative to
his career so far.

Detroit is both rich and smart. It takes both to win.

Hilarious that Jagirl will be playing in Putinland now...maybe he'll
like the women there more...

That's awesome. We get a lot of people who go to the waterpark and
forget to bring sandals or whatnot.

I'm working the AVP tour this weekend, so if anyone's around, say
hellooooo.

My kids like them. Easy on, easy off, fun colors, can get them wet, etc.

The oldest got her first pair quite by accident, a few years back and before I
knew about
them. We were halfway to the Shark Tank (1 1/2 hours away), when she announced
she
"forgot to wear shoes". The child was 10 years old and I am pissed because
"Mommy can't
remember every thing for everybody all the time!" so I call the husband and tell
him to
pop over to Nordstrom's, before he heads to the game and buy the pair of shoes
he knows
she'll hate, because she will have to wear them! (as punishment for "forgetting"
hers) We
meet up in the parking lot and he has such a victorious grin on his face as he
pulls them
out of the bag and they (what the hell are these, anyway?) are bright pink (she
hates pink,
she wears shoes with skulls on them) and "she is going to be sorry she ever
forgot her
shoes"

Well, that plan backfired on us because she loved them and we ended up with more
Crocs
in more colours in our house.

No need for apologies - it's cool that you've met those guys!

As for Sakic ("kick ass" spelled backwards... sort of), last I heard
he was in Croatia for Svatos's wedding. Sakic is Croatian himself,
wonder if he recieved a hero's welcome? Adam Foote was on TV last
night saying he's been in touch with him and is really trying to talk
him into coming back.

Anyway, I am hoping and praying that he'll be back for another year
or two. He is definitely still able to play at a high level, but he
*is* turning 39 this summer. He may decide to go out while he can
still walk. I believe he has a few more good years in him for sure.

And no matter what kind of damaged goods Peter is - I want him back.
If he's only able to play every other game, or just the playoffs -
whatever, he's still awesome. The players and the fans love him, and
can accept whatever he can give us. It's the press and people from
other cities who seem to think he should be gone. They all need to
butt out.

I hope Sakic decides to play again, I think he still can.. About Peter,
I'm not so sure, but I'll definitely be sad if he plans to retire. But
he plays, I think he should stick with the Avs - whatever happens to
the rest of the season, I think the people in Colorado would still
respect him for his previous accomplishments there.

There has been noting in the news here about Sakic or Forsberg.

Brad you'd think if Peter was wearing his crocs he wouldn't slip and
fall so he wouldn't have to worry about landing on his feet.

I would like to see Joe back for one more year. There haven't been any
reports on him at all except they are giving him time to decide.

Peter I think needs to hang up the skates before he does some serious
damage to his feet and ankles and ends up in one of those motorized
scooters.

My question is why do people wear crocs?

and apologies for my last post..it was a bit too Penny Pf'er-
ish..with the name dropping..its not as if I know them..just have
met them, either once or a few times..so enough of that!

and the old school theme continues..as the devils bring back
rolston, holik and are talking to shanahan..did I miss something?
maybe its just a minor trend that Ive noticed..cant spend as wildly
as you used to, so teams are going the safe route with guys they
know..

let me guess whats next..Fedorov goes back to the Wings..Shanny to
the Devils or Blues..Demitra back to the Blues..and Zhamnov back to
Chicago..what do I win? lol..

when Sykora finds out that the Rangers have signed wade redden for
6.5 per season, she is going to be irate!!..this is the kind of
players the Devils need..the devils spent their day bringing 2 older
guys back and working out a deal to keep bryce salvador..it feels
like they lost another step to the rangers today..

(maybe theyll dive in and steal Jagr and *gulp* sean avery..ok,
Marty may not want that to happen..that would do wonders for that
rivalry though..

what is sakic going to decide? has anyone heard?..is he waiting to
see where peter lands?

(and based on the last 3 years, it wont be on his feet..get it? sore
feet AND he takes dives..I crack myself up)..

seriously though..is retirement a real option for peter?..

I picked a bad time to be busy at work :( thanks for the updates!

for all the jabbing I gave the Avs for living in the past, I see it
may be the in thing to do after all..Im just happy that he will be
back and away from Keenan..as well as the earlier games on HNIC
every Saturday..

I was sorta pulling for the Devils or the Pens since Ty was due to
be gone and is...

useless note..for all the players that Ive met, bumped into..played
pond hockey with etc and the list is VERY small..it was very odd to
hear 4 transactions in a row of guys I HAD met..strange..I know Neat
and others have met countless others..I live in the land of the
USHL, so its quite rare..

first, Matt Greene traded to the Kings..bad move for the Oilers...

then the CuJo news..at his age, better than what they had..but I
cant honestly say itll be better than the last time he was there..he
IS 41..and if Sundin goes to the canucks..well, forget it..

(plus..he shouldve waited on the Mats news first before signing..)

Ty Conkin to the Wings..yay!! not really a wings fan..but to see him
team, up with Osgood will really boost Ty 1 more level up..

and Jeff Finger, also off to Toronto..will always be a good 3rd or
4th line d guy..but 3.5 mil per season?..and you wonder why the
Leafs cant get themselves going..I think he got a better offer than
Preissing did..who the hell is Toms agent?

ok, the Leafs probably went for Brian Campbell and didnt want to pay
7.5 per season..is 1 campbell better than 2 fingers? hmm..right now,
yes..chicago is getting stronger as we speak..the leafs adding 41
year old goalies and 3rd line D guys wont make the fans happy..

the streak of who Ive met ended with Darcy Tucker going to the
Avs..who always seem to need a player like this..if they play him as
often as Don Cherry wants him to..who knows? it could pay off..hes A
LOT better than the Ian Laperrieres and others that theyve acquired
in the past..

just dont ask me whats up with the goalie stuff..I love the conklin
to detroit move..

but lets see..Huet leaves a hot situation and goes to backup(for
now) Khabi in Chicago..may not be bad as Khabi wont be there
forever..

the Caps go off and sign Theodore..as if they need more former habs..

the Avs go and sign flash in the pan Andrew Raycroft..at least 800k
is a good move...

(ok, didnt realize that he won 37 2 seasons ago..I just didnt recall
him doing much since his rookie year in 02-03)..nice numbers at
times, but gives up big goals..

still, the avs improved a lil..the Caps got worse..Olie the Goalie
signed a 1 year deal in Tampa..now the Caps will have to face a
goalie with a chip on his shoulder a few times this year..with the
new greasy haired coach..

700k for conklin..thats why, with the cap thats going up btw, the
Wings continue to prosper..Ty will win 75% of his games and not cost
much..

patrick lalime to the sabres? wtf..how is he STILL playing?..

this is getting crazier by the second..desperate times for some
GMs..as if the market is going too quickly for them...nice to see
the Blues and devils sit still and not make a damn move..

I'm sure it's just the beginning of tons more rumors to come. Peter
himself said Avs only in an interview after they lost to the Wings.
