I really don't know. Too many variables, and the officiating has been
insane so far, so that really makes things less than predictable.

I just pick teams I like - really the team I like most that's left is
the Sens. I wouldn't mind seeing the Avs go on. I want the Devils and
Canes to both go down. Edmonton and Calgary I am pretty neutral about,
but I do want the Flames to beat the Ducks tonight.

"There's always next year."

LOL that could be the team's motto.

I do hope the Flames win, I've never liked the Ducks.

It is his ankle again I believe. He was having rotation on it and they put the
brace in his skate to help stablize the ankle for more to be done in the off
season.

Of course his groin may need further review in general.

He didn't say...

He wanted to meet with the specialist, first, before saying what type
of surgery e was having.

The doctors in the U.S. are better than those in Sweden.

Foppa needs to publicly bash Clarke. We all know that Peter knows
Clarke is the damning force on that team.

If Clarke was able to be fired, it would have happened after the 1997
collapse, or after 98 or 99 or 00 or 01 or 02 or 03 etc etc etc...

Here's something to consider...both Hatcher and Rathje are both
locked into 3 and 5 year big dollar contracts, and who are both also
more or less worthless in the new NHL. 7M right there...

What a glorious choke. I couldn't have asked for more. Almost a
sweep, and what a collapse of a final game.

"The security team came down and made them stop. "

That says so much, on more than one level.

I know he was in shock look at the picture in the Swedish article.

I think Forsberg is man who likes to fullfill his obligations. I think he
would finish his contract and never look back.

He is also very competitive and could ask to be traded. I see Clarke on his
way out this year if that happens. I forsee Clarke being gone at the end of
next year, one last round with him by Snider.

Forsberg also didn't play at his best consistently inn the regular season and
only in 2 games in the post season. Reality is that there are no free passes.

Clayton all of Row 3 in Section 222 was chanting Bob must go and facing the
box where clarke was sitting. The security team came down and made them stop.

When training camp ended last fall, Flyers coach Ken Hitchcock was
confident his club would go far come spring.

After signing Peter Forsberg and shoring up the defense, the Flyers
expected to challenge for the Stanley Cup.

"The reality is, it will be a game that rewards teams that work hard
defensively and punishes teams that want to slow the game down, take the
emotion out of it, and build on other teams' frustrations," Hitchcock
predicted. "If teams that play the back end of the game have success, it
will change everything. Our attitude is we're going to get them before
they get us."

TONIGHT? No, not

tonight,'' Bob Clarke said as he headed out of the Flyers' dressing
room, down the hallway to congratulate the Sabres. It is Clarke's custom
to wait on the postmortem. Between now and then, he knows what is coming.

The Flyers' playoff series against the Buffalo Sabres - you know, the
one you'll be smelling for a while, whenever the wind shifts - is being
painted from coast-to-hockey-coast as a referendum on size vs. speed, on
the Old NHL vs. the New NHL. It is, like most shorthand, too simple by half.

Make no mistake, though.

However good his intentions, and however bad his team's luck with
injuries, there is plenty of truth in the shorthand. Clarke got them in
this position and it is Clarke's job to get them out of it, salary cap
or no salary cap.

No one can talk about the coach or the goaltender, two of Philadelphia's
hardiest perennials when things go bad around the Flyers. Not this time;
no way, no how. There is nowhere else to look but at the general manager.

He didn't say what the problem was. Today, he meets a specialist then
talks to Flyers organisation. He added he stayed in Philadelphia at
the moment.

Sometimes a player can pick up on things that apply to his postseason
series by watching another game.

Flyers center *Peter Forsberg* was watching the Detroit-Edmonton series,
which the Oilers won Monday night in six games.

"You saw Edmonton," Forsberg said during yesterday's morning skate.
"They were kind of lucky. They got outshot, 17-2, in one period, and all
of a sudden they got a penalty and they're back in the game.

"Simple things can change a game. That is what I mean when I say we have
to think simple things and play 60 minutes. You have to be ready for
what happens next. If you are not concentrating, something happens, and
maybe it turns a game around.

"If you get a big hit, maybe it creates momentum and turns it around,
too. Every shift counts now, right off the bat."

I hear there's an old saying in Philadelphia: "There's always next
year." Ugh. Life was so much simpler before I became a hockey fan.

I've always been a player person, meaning that I am unfaithful and
will cheer for a team because they have a player I like (who usually
happens to be Swedish). I said to myself that if the Flyers were to
go out, I would cheer for Detroit because I like Lidstrom and
Zetterberg and there is no possible way they could get out in the
first round.

I have no idea who to cheer for now, lol. I like Calgary, but me
saying that will probably make them lose tomorrow.

Guys like him, Gomez, and Weight are American players I actually like.
Unlike guys such as Hatcher, JR, Tkachoke, etc

It is possible. When the spleen thing happened in 2001 (last game of
the second series) everyone thought it was over for the Avs. Peter
had DOMINATED in those two series. No Peter, no Cup was the
prevailing opinion. But the other Avs rose to the occasion and won it
without his help. (granted we're talking a more than a few future
Hall of Famers, but it wasn't an easy adjustment, even for them)

Bottom line is that the Flyers DO have Peter, and even if he has a
bad game, they should be able to move on if they really want it.

KEN HITCHCOCK doesn't like the idea that this series swings on the play
of one player.

He would rather not have people thinking that the balance of the Flyers'
season rests on how Peter Forsberg plays tonight against the Buffalo
Sabres. He especially does not want the rest of his players thinking that.

But the coach understands the thinking, and he believes it's a fair
assessment. And with the Sabres leading the Eastern Conference
quarterfinals, 3-2, he knows that's what people will be looking for in
Game 6 at the Wachovia Center.

"I don't like it, but I think it's fair," Hitchcock said. "I don't like
it at all. And that's something I would like to see change. I'd like to
see people when [Forsberg's] not having his 'A' game, I would like to
see other people step forward

OORHEES, N.J. -- The last time the Flyers found themselves trailing a
playoff series, 3-2, they needed someone to show them how to win and
ultimately how to survive. That person was Keith Primeau, who scored the
tying goal in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals against Tampa Bay
in the closing minutes and then set up a game-winner by Simon Gagne in
overtime to force Game 7.

And even though he was on the ice practicing again with the Flyers
Monday before an all-important Game 6, he's not coming back.

So someone else needs to be that guy. That player who single-handedly
elevates not only his own game, but those of his teammates.

"Real" is a good word for Drury.

Being at the Pepsi Center when the Avs won their last Stanley Cup is
something I will never forget. I loved seeing Bourque take the Cup
from Joe, and Peter coming out there on the ice in his jersey after
the splenectomy was awesome. But seeing Chris Drury actually out
there letting loose as he skated around just touched my heart. He was
finally laughing and whooping it up. He's always in such control of
his emotions, it was so good to see him finally having some fun! The
crowd loved it.

He would have had to have been "opened up" to remove the bursa.

I think I remember reading in the Swedish papers that he had to have 2
surgeries on last year's wrist injury.

He had the wrist surgery in Sweden, last year, and something with his
heel, but I don't know if they had to open it up.

*BUFFALO - *When Peter Forsberg is the best player on the ice, the best
player for

either team, one of the best

hockey players on the planet, the Flyers beat the Sabres. When he isn't,
they lose and get significantly outplayed. That's it.

This isn't fair and this isn't right. That the Flyers are so dependant
upon his mesmerizing brilliance does an injustice to Forsberg and it
does an injustice to themselves. But it is where they are, five games
into the first round of Forsberg's first playoff experience with the Flyers.

It is where they are, as the

Flyers face elimination.

Down by three games to two

after yesterday's quiet, 3-0 defeat at HSBC Arena, the Flyers have now
fallen behind in five consecutive games. It is ridiculous, when you
think about it. The singing finishes, the lights get turned up, and the
Flyers

begin bailing water. Forsberg says he has never seen anything like it.
