* bike in good working order
* A helmet (no helmet, no ride), bike shoes w clipless pedals
* I.D., insurance info, emergency contact
* Spare tube, tire levers, patch kit and pump
* Some bike food and a bit of cash
* At least one water bottle
* A positive attitude!!!
