Other Stuff you Want to Know
Gates open at 6:30 a.m. and check-in is
between 7:00 and 9:00. Cinderella Classic is not a race - take you time and
enjoy the trip! The course closes at 5:00 p.m.
A bicycle helmet is required on this ride -
no exceptions. Don’t make us deny you the ride because "My dog ate
my helmet!" (yes, we heard that one - and we’re still laughing...)
If a ride official sees you cruising the course with no helmet affixed to your
noggin, you will be pulled from the ride, scolded badly like the scofflaw you
are, and dragged to the finish area to eat and drink until your gal pals finish
the ride.
Prepare your bike! Pleeeeease check your
bike, or ask your local bike shop to give it a once-over before you arrive. You
want to make certain that all components (brakes, tires, wheels, derailleur)
are ready for this ride. The Valley Spokesmen will not inspect your bicycle,
but we have arranged for two local bike shops to be on hand to assist you with
any minor mechanical problems you might encounter.
A Cinderella Classic route sheet will be
provided, and the road will be clearly marked with pink arrows.
We offer
some of the area’s best SAG support.
They patrol the route to cool you when you’re hot; pump you when
you’re flat; mend you if you break...these folks are good! Rest
stops will have fruit, drinks, and snacks. A cold lunch will be
served near mid-ride, and, along with all the other awesome food, fresh hot
soup is served at the end of the ride. We strongly recommend that you stick
around and sample the fare!
Your
spouse, family, and friends are welcome to meet you at the ride finish, and all
are invited to the Cinderella Expo,
where women-oriented bicycle manufacturers, clothing suppliers, and
women’s organizations will have booths. Enter through Gate 12 off
It
doesn’t happen very often, but once in a long while a cloudy sky does
open up on us. The Cinderella Classic runs
rain or shine, and there are no makeup days. The Valley Spokesmen
Club offers no refunds because of weather, so pack your parka and
faux-fur-lined booties, just in case. Umbrella helmet is optional...

When you
consider this ride, remember:
- Ride safely and obey the rules of the road.
- Bicycles are under the same rules of the road as
motor vehicles - but cars are a lot bigger than us, so give ’em a
wide berth when you can.
- Police Departments in all towns and cities along
the route, as well as the Highway Patrol, are aware of this ride. They
will be patrolling the route for your safety and looking for traffic
violations. If you blow through stop signs or traffic signals, you may be
cited for the violation. The fine is the same as if you were driving your car.
- Bicycle rider courtesy to motorists often results
in motorist courtesy to bicycle riders.
- Ride close to the right edge of the road. Do not
ride two abreast on busy streets. Single file is safer and more courteous.
- Point out road hazards to other cyclists. Pass
other cyclists only on the left and call out "on your left!" so
they know that you’re coming up on them.
- You’re not
going to wear headphones - RIGHT!? Don’t make us rip ’em off
your head...
Enjoy
your day - Thanks for riding the Cinderella Classic!
