LUNAchix Sunday Ride: Paradise Loop   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #1190 of 1660 |
Hello!

we loved it so much last month, we are doing it again...

Please join the LUNAchix for a nice start to your Sunday, this Sunday at 8am as we cross the Golden Gate Bridge and enjoy the views and comfortable hills of Paradise Loop.

We will be meeting at the Sports Basement (610 Mason St. San Francisco, CA; across from Crissy Field with plenty of parking)
at 7:45 am, ready to roll at 8am.

The ride will take us across the Golden Gate Bridge, down through Sausalito and around Paradise Loop for a 38-mile, moderately hilly ride.  Terrain: 3, Pace: Moderate.  All rides are no-drop rides and it's a supportive, non-competitive environment.  It's an opportunity to get out and enjoy the day with some fellow female rides.

What to Bring: Your ID, insurance card, and emergency contact info. You'll also want a pump, spare tube, tire levers, tools, patch kit, food, water, and cash just in case…Don't forget your shoes and helmet. We will ask you to sign a waiver and provide an emergency contact. Luna Bars and route sheets will be provided!

It's not required, but please RSVP to emilyd@... so I can anticipate who will be attending.  Any questions can be directed to the same email address.

Hope to see you this weekend!

B - Brisk: very strong riders, few stops (18mph+)

Please obey all traffic laws. Remember that bicycles are vehicles, and bicyclists are expected to follow all traffic regulations. This means stopping at stop signs and red lights, using hand signals, and riding single file on the right side of the road. Bicyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as drivers (BUT cars weigh 4000 lbs!)

Be Predictable in Traffic

o Stay to the right of the road unless it is unsafe to do so
o Stop at stop signs and red lights
o Yield to pedestrians and vehicles as appropriate
o Make eye contact with drivers
o Ride in a straight line - don't weave between parked vehicles
o Signal your turns and braking

Respect Group Ride Etiquette

o Introduce yourself, welcome new cyclists, and offer assistance if needed
o Be punctual - arrive with your gear and equipment and ready to ride
o Use verbal or hand signals when slowing, stopping, turning or rolling
- left arm straight out to signal a left turn
- right arm straight out for a right turn
- palm or fist behind your lower back to signal slowing or stopping
o Be courteous
- announce "On your left!" when passing cyclists. Pass *only* on the left
- move to the right if a cyclist indicates they want to pass on your left
- ride single file; two abreast if wide bike lane or very quiet street
- indicate road hazards by pointing them out and/or by shouting
- announce problems like open car doors, detrius on the roadway, etc.
