Two years in the making (rather, two years in the *waiting*) but the
newest version of the PDGA course directory has been released.
Please get it while it's hot. Let me know if you have any issues.

Thanks, Robert
Wow, I didn't realize I'd let the PDGA course directory get out of
date for TWO YEARS. I'm terribly sorry, folks.
Rest assured that I am working on an update now, and will hope to get
something out in the not too distant future.
Please let me know if you would like to test the new version. There's
no new features, but the course directory will be updated.
Thanks, Robert
Regarding the SDRAM installer I wrote about recently:
The following comes from another user:
---
Good news, and bad news.
Good news: it knows how to install them from the card to the RAM.
Bad news: it's actually an installer. Once it installs the program
it's permanently in the RAM. It doesn't go back on the card when
you're done.
I certainly appreciate the effort, though.

Here's the original email content, for your referral:

1. New Course Directory
2. Feedback Requested
Hello all,
1. NEW COURSE DIRECTORY
The PDGA course directory, version 1.3 has been released. We've got
many more courses in the directory, and finally include a course in
Antarctica!
You can download it at http://www.brainkandy.org/apps/pdga_directory
Let me know if you have any problems. Have a great weekend!
2. FEEDBACK REQUESTED
So I'd like to get a little feedback from the user community about
what you would like to see out of this app. Do you want updates more
frequently? Would you like a way to find out which courses are within
X miles of a certain spot? Do you want to have the ability to store
the application and course data on another card? Yeah, all that stuff.
Let me know.
Before you ask me for a Pocket PC version, I know many of you would
like a Pocket PC version, and that's just not something which I'm
going to write. However, if someone does write it, not only will I
help that person out, I'll announce it to the world.
Rob
Hello all,
Thanks to an observant Mark R., I have fixed a bug on the 1.1 Course
Directory. Basically, Texas has 108 courses in 76 cities (woooo) and
the application was only built to handle 100 courses in 75 cities. I
have uploaded a new version, 1.2, which you should download to
replace 1.1 immediately.
How come it took a month for someone to report a bug in the largest
territory? Maybe Texas has many courses, but few players? :)
You can download it at http://www.brainkandy.org/apps/pdga_directory
Let me know if you have any problems. Enjoy!
Rob
Hello all,
NEW UPDATE COMING SOON
I am working on putting together a way-overdue update to the PDGA course
directory data. It's a very recent extract of the very same course directory
which you get from the PDGA.
As I no longer own a Palm handheld, I could use some help testing. I can do
some basic stuff but some reviews and feedback would be most welcome! Please
let me know if you are interested by contacting me at
rikonigsberg@...
I hope to put the update out by the end of June.
RUMOR: POCKET PC VERSION IN THE WORKS?
From the Rumor Department: I hear that someone may be working on a Pocket PC
version of the PDGA course directory. I don't know much about it, but I am
in touch with the PDGA, so if I hear anything, I promise I'll post it here.
Enjoy your summer!
Rob
Hello,
I have redeployed version 1.0 -- the only change is that I have included the
PTOOLBOXLIB743.PRC file, which I forgot to do the first time 'round.
People who are experiencing errors indicating "Could not find Ptoolboxlib"-type
errors, install this file, too.
Of course, this can be downloaded at
http://www.brainkandy.org/apps/pdga_directory
Thanks for all your valuable feedback everyone, and sorry for the error!
Rob
WHAT'S NEW WITH 1.0?
Yet another updated course directory, with 60 new courses. I've added France,
which didn't have a course until now. Welcome, France!
As usual, get the latest version at
http://www.brainkandy.org/apps/pdga_directory
Contact me with any and all questions.
Rob
I had to re-release v0.9 because I forgot to include the Pocket Toolbox library. IF YOU HAVE ALREADY INSTALLED 0.9, PLEASE RE-DOWNLOAD IT AND INSTALL IT. THANKS!
INSTALLATION TIP: Be sure to install ALL .pdb and .prc files.
WHAT'S NEW WITH 0.9?
1. New course directory, with 60 new courses. I've added Vermont, which didn't
have a course until now. Welcome, Vermont!
2. New copy of Pocket Toolbox. You must make sure to install all the .prc files,
including the new Pocket Toolbox!
As usual, get the latest version at
http://www.brainkandy.org/apps/pdga_directory
Enjoy!
Rob
I've received a new course directory from the PDGA. It's got almost 60 new courses, including a new U.S. state: Vermont! (Before you get too excited, it's only one course in Vermont.) I'm asking for a couple of colunteers to go through the application so we can ensure it's good to go. I'll take the first 10 people who ask. Please write to me at rikonigsberg@....
While I have your attention, I noticed today that the mailing list now has 100 people signed up. Nice little personal achievement moment. Yay! Go me. :)
WHAT'S NEW WITH 0.8?
1. PERSONAL NOTES: On every course directory page is now a button
called "Notes." You can use it to store your own personal notes! Even
if you get a new course directory, you should keep your old notes.
I'm really pleased how easy this was to do!
2. OTHER STUFF: I fixed two reported bugs regarding the way course
data was presented, but blah, blah, blah, who cares, when you compare
it to PERSONAL NOTES!!! Ha Ha!
INSTALLATION NOTES: Starting with v0.8, you must install
PToolboxlib.prc along with the course directory and the application.
It should be pretty clear when you open the .zip file
OTHER COMMENTS: It's really cool to see that this list has grown from
23 to 44 members in just over 3 months. I hope you continue to use
and enjoy this useful little tool.
Keep the suggestions coming!
Thanks, Rob

Happy Holidays!
Thanks for all the quick feedback on 0.6. The app is now fully functional and
sufficiently stable, and has been released today. Please replace your current
version with this new one -- IT HAS THE 2002 COURSE DIRECTORY!
You can pick up your copy of version 0.7 at
http://www.brainkandy.org/apps/pdga_directory
As always, if you have any problems, please let me know at
rikonigsberg@..., and please let me know what additional features you
might like to see.
Happy New Year.
Rob
Hello,
v0.6 of the PDGA Disc Golf Directory is in-progress. Among other
things, there are two big changes:
1. Now when a new course directory is delivered, your Favorites will
remain in synch (something some of you have noticed already.)
2. A brand new course directory (which, I believe, matches the hard-
copy 2002 Edition).
I need a some help testing enhancement #1. For helping out, you can
have an advance copy of the brand-new course directory. I am looking
for replies ASAP.
When the modification to v0.6 is complete, everyone can enjoy the new
course directory.
Happy New Year!
Rob
Hello!
NEW RELEASE
Version 0.5 of the PDGA Directory for Palm has been released. Notable
enhancements:
1. Loads of bug fixes.
2. The Favorites section has been significantly improved
3. Fixed improper delay of some uncommon ASCII-characters
4. Added more use of Up/Down button.
5. Minor interface improvements (i.e. US1 / US2 merged into one
screen.)
6. The source code is now available for download.
I had hoped for updated course data from the PDGA, but that will come
shortly, in version 0.6.
By the way, please remember this is a Beta. Send bug reports to
rikonigsberg@... -- if you don't tell me, I can't fix it.
UPCOMING RELEASES
I'm working on three major problems right now:
1. You will be able to delete the PDGA application. Go ahead and try
to do it now!
2. You will be able to beam the entire application, with the course
data, all at once.
3. The favorites section needs further enhancements (mostly internal
stuff -- if the course database is updated, then the Favorites
database becomes out of sync.)
Version 0.6 will have more bug fixes, plus:
1. Fresh data from the PDGA.
Expect this to occur no earlier than New Year's.
Happy Holidays!
Rob
[Sorry, this email was supposed to go out two weeks ago but I'm still trying to
figure out this yahoo groups thing. -Rob]
Here's the news:
NEW RELEASE
Version 0.4 of the PDGA Directory for Palm has been released. Notable
enhancements:
1. Worldwide PDGA data
2. The internal workings have been totally rewritten.
By the way, please remember this is a Beta. Rewriting the guts is going to
introduce defects. Send bug reports to rikonigsberg@... -- if you don't
tell me, I can't fix it.
UPCOMING RELEASES
I'm working on three major problems right now:
1. You will be able to delete the PDGA application. Go ahead and try to do it
now!
2. You will be able to beam the entire application, with the course data, all at
once.
3. The Favorites section will be significantly enhanced.
Version 0.5 is going to be significant in fixing as many of the bugs in 0.4 as
possible, and will also:
1. Have an updated course directory (in other words, fresh data from the PDGA --
this data is from August.)
2. Significant attempt to fix as many bugs as possible.
3. Make main menu scrolling a little more intuitive
4. Include "Move Up/Move Down/Delete" buttons in the Favorites section.
Expect this to occur no earlier than Thanksgiving.
THANKS TO YOU
I certainly never expected to find out that in the (not-quite) two months since
this was released, this app has been downloaded over 300 times!
Happy Halloween!
Rob
Welcome to this list! I stopped and counted all the numbers, and there are 23 of you! I was shocked to find so many people right out of the gate that were interested.
BY ANY OTHER NAME...
Yes I renamed the newsgroup from pdga_for_palm to pdga_directory. Surprise!
VERSION 0.4
Version 0.4 has been built, and it's only a matter of time before I fix up the web page and send it out. The major work has been:
* Fixed all those states that begin with "M".
* Rewrote the guts of the insides (sorely needed and much improved)
* All Canada and International data! Yippee!!
I'll send the notice out real soon.
REQUEST FOR HELP
I have some requests to put out there for help, though they're probably not what you think:
I need some help getting this website (www.brainkandy.org) up to snuff. If you have some website talents and can give me a couple of hours of your time, I really really would appreciate it. Mostly I need to incorporate the brain icon at the top-level page throughout the website: This means adding more meaningful text in place of "Football" and "Sex", and hyperlinking those callouts. Also it means making a smaller brain graphic that can be stored on all other webpages as a way to navigate to the top. Also I want to move forward in standardizing all the pages on the site -- somehow. The site is behind an apache web server, so it's easier than if it weren't. Contact me for details.
