Callaway Walmart has all grades. Good prices.
It is Walmart though... I hope it won't change the paint on my car to a
confederate flag or something.

Well, this evening, since I was out of gas I stop at the gas station to
fill up. Hmmmm.... No plus or super. Dagnabbit! Went to the next
place, same story. Next and the next and the next, etc. All gas
stations in the area are out of plus or super. The trucks only
delivered regular unleaded. My car requires super. So now I have
friends scouring for octane boost, if they sell it anymore, and for gas
stations with super. In the meantime, my traveling distance has
shortened significantly since the bike is now my only form of
transportation until I can get gas. While I'm happy about the added
bike time, I'm not so happy having to commute with the remnants of
Tropical Storm Tammy that I'll have to be riding through. Durn! So if
anyone knows of any places that have super right now or octane boost
please let me know.
Thanks,
Geoff

Mike,
Sorry I missed you, I should have checked this message board before I
went off on my own. I'll be out of town until the 14th will check for
rides when I get back.
Just a quick message to let everyone know that I'm adding events to the
group Calendar. Check it out for general info on road, MTB, and tri
events. Email me or post a message for additions to the calendar.
The calendar is only visible if you are a member of the group.

Sunday 25th- ride from the BP at 20+77 North to Wasaw/Orange Hill/Vernon, for 60ish miles in the hills. Not quite as good as the 6 Gap that Geoff M is heading up to but it is closer to home. Weather
should be great, start time is 8:30, if it is raining then I won't be there, otherwise, let's ride! BSD

Due to later sunrise, the Purple Turtle ride start times will move back
to 6:15 a.m. beginning next Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2005. The ride goes Tue
and Thurs mornings from the intersection of Joan and North Lagoon on
Panama City Beach.
After we fall back to Central Standard Time we expect to return to the
6 a.m. start times.
Just in case you didn't get it the first time. I think there are a few of
you not on the original list this yahoo group spawned from.
Lots of good race opportunities.

Mark your callanders folks, racing is coming to town.
Kicking things off, the Navy Dive Center is hosting a
fun little MTB race over at Pine Log State Park on
Saturday Oct 8th. Cost is $20 and proceeds benefit
the Bikes 4 Kids program. On Oct 15th Sunny Hills is
hosting a sprint tri (1/4 mi swim, 12 mi bike, and 5K
run) and here is the best part- $35 for USAT and $44
for non member- finally an affordable triathlon!!
Actually here is the best part- it is part of
Oktoberfest, something tells me that there might just
be beer available (as long as Morrie doesn't drink it
all) Finally the 5th?? Annual 12 Hours of Pine Log
MTB will be going off on Sat Oct 29th with a wicked
Halloween theme. Race 10Am-10Pm and don't forget to
watch "The Blair Witch Project" before heading off
into the wilderness. Finally there is that little
Ironman thing in Nov, but if you have not been
training for it already- might just be a little late
to start now. I have race info/entry forms down at
the shop for all of these races, if you don't want to
race I know we need some volunteers for Pine Log, come
on out and spend a day in the woods. Take care BSD.

How about we stick with the usual 0700 Saturday AM. We meet at 77&20 BP.
Those of us wanting a shorter ride can just do either a Vernon or Orange
Hill Loop for about 40-50 miles.
The rest of the psychos can do both for 80-100.

Just noticed I didn't mention I'm refering to Saturday a.m.

I'd like a later start time ( 7:30?). I would like to do Orange Hill

I know Alan was possibly interested. Anyone else? If you don't want to

Mike,
I'm out Saturday doing a ride in Albany, but would consider a Sunday
afternoon (i.e. after-church/lunch) ride with you. Let me know...

It looks like I can finally get back on my bike again after 3 weeks of
recovering from the century we did before the Tri States 100 (I was
sore for 5 days and then got sick). Danny and I are planning on doing
~50 miles tommorrow morning. We will leave from the small
recreational area at the creek on the left side of HWY 81 at 7am. I
think it is before you get to Red Bay but I am not 100% sure. We will
ride up 81, do the Knox Hill Loop, come back out to 81 at the blinking
light, continue riding up to Ponce De Leon and back to the
recreational area. You are more than welcome to join us.
Steve
I've been getting my ass kicked by work the last few weeks so I haven't
been out there in a while and feel like I'm back where I started this
season--and that was pretty bad.
Consequently, I'm looking for something super easy this weekend.
Is it Blue Springs Loop weekend? I could go for that or similar,
but nothing much longer.
Definitely no 105 mi rides with Knox Hill iterations thrown in for fun.... not this time ;)
The Pensacola cycling club is sponsoring the 7th annual century ride on
Sat 1 Oct 05. Danny Rogers and a few others are considering going.
The ride is in Milton FL, north of Pensacola Bay off of Hwy 90.
Following is the link to the registration form to mail in:

Hi everyone,
New member joining in. Thanks to Bob Nichols for hooking me up with
the group. Wondered if anyone else is going to Albany, GA for the
Pecan City Nut Roll -
http://www.pecancitypedalers.org/nut_roll_2005.htm - which is this
Saturday. I'm taking the whole family - my wife, Pam, and 2
daughters (10 and 8 yrs old). We're only doing the 30 mile loop.
It will be the first ride for the kids and I'm hoping to get them
hooked. If the ride doesn't hook them, then I'm hoping the snacks
at the SAG stop will.
Another ride I'm planning on taking the wife and kids on is in
Gainesville Oct 1-2, 2005. Here's the link - http://gccfla.org/gcf/
It's a 2-day event with AYCE pancakes from IHOP before the ride on
Saturday and pizza after the ride. The Sunday ride(s) are supposed
to tour numerous horse farms, which is what attracted my daughters
to this particular event.
I'll be joining the Tuesday and Thursday PM group rides as often as
possible, so I hope to get to know more of you in the future.
Thanks,
Scott
A moderate to easy paced ride will be taking place Sunday Sept 11th.
Starting at 0700, Joe Hassler, Steve Fitzgibbon and John Montgomery
will be riding north on 77 from the BP at intersection of Hwy 20 and
Hwy 77. We will do the Vernon/Wausau loop (or the other way around)
and
return. It's about 40'ish miles and we won't be going fast...except
for
on the downhills. Most everyone on this group knows our level of
ability, so you can rest assured that this WON'T be a hammerfest.
Hope
to see some others that enjoy looking at the scenery from time to
time.
John M
Hey everyone! I just wanted to let everyone know that just because a
few of us are doing longer distances, doesn't mean you can't join in.
I encourage anyone who wants to ride to come out and join us for any
part of the rides that they choose. You can turn around at any time to
get the mileage that you'd like. Don't make me beg you to become a
more cohesive group. :-)
Several of us are departing Ebro at 0700 on this Sat 10 Sep for a 100-
mi ride. Route is up 81 to Knox Hill Rd and on to DeFuniak Springs and
back with some hills added to make it 100+. We usually park in the NE
corner of 20 and 79. Check the files section for a map of the route.
Alan
Are the Tuesday and Thursday morning rides still leaving from Joan & North Lagoon? I got there (2 minutes late as usual) on Tuesday morning and there was no-one there and no cars parked.

Geoff,
When school is out we usually park at Vernon Elementary on Hwy 277,
start and end point for the Tour de Ranch.
What time are you riding? I was thinking about starting at Hwy 20 and
77 at 0700 to do Orange Hill and some of Vernon, then back down Hwy 279.

All,
I'll be doing Knox Hill Loop repeats tomorrow morning, if any cares
to join in. I'll be at Red Bay @ 0700 to head out. Dave and Co. will
be starting out of the same place at 0830.
Geoff
I too am jealous, we had to work due to the hurricane, Bob Nichols said it
was a great ride.
