For those of us out town for the July 5th
event, I am thinking about scheduling a monthly time trial series similar to
what the Emerald Coast Cyclists have done and other cycling clubs. The idea
would be to use the same course so riders can measure their improvement over
the span of 2-3 months. Probably be either once or twice a month would also be
during the week rather than on a weekend. There are so many rides now,
scheduling it becomes an issue. It could be set-up as a series so that overall
winners would have to complete at least three of them to eligible for any type
of overall awards handed out. If you think this would work, let me know. Last
year I scheduled the Knox Hill Time Trial with a ride up and back from Bruce.
We could throw that into the series too. Possible days…Monday, Wednesday
or Thursday afternoon on Steam
Plant Road. Weekend for the Knox Hill TT. I’ll
set-up a schedule and seek sponsors for some small awards! BoBo contributed
last year. (hint, hint) These type of events are great for all …builds camaraderie,
good explanations to buy new gear to spouses, bragging rights, development as a
“complete” athlete!
Sounds like the event went very well and
with some good volunteers to assist which is always appreciated.
