Re: [pccycling] Elevation gain

Was it all paved?  If so could you email me the route?

Subject: [pccycling] Elevation gain

Bobo, the ride Kevin H. and I did today starting in Sunny Hills and
covering some of the usual Wausau-area hills as well as a new section
we added near Fall Waters State Park (very nice) ended up being just a
hair shy of 3,000 feet in elevation gain, according to an internet-
based mapping system. It was about 65 miles. If we were to come at
Porter Hill from a different direction, the ride would come out at
around 3,700 feet of climbing (out an back course)for about 75 miles.
How does that compare to other rides in the area that you've mapped
out? Judging by the way KH and I looked in the last couple of miles,
I'd guess that's one of the hilliest routes around.

Everything was paved except a 4-mile section between the back of Sunny Hills and Porter Hill. That can be fixed by turning west on Elkcam Blvd (Mile 6) to 77...

Those numbers seem reasonable given the location and the number of miles covered by those routes. As I recall the TdR metric route is about 50% flat and 50%...
