Hi Barry,

My name is Laura .  I'm a TV producer looking for the best, most festive 3-4 member Patriots' tailgating teams for a competition that may air on the Food Network in August.    Are there any teams you could suggest that fit the bill, have their own rigs and can also cook something delicious that represents the New England region?   We're also looking for tailgaters of all types who would be willing to drive to Buffalo, NY(Ralph Wilson Stadium) to be part of the show, but not necessarily compete.  We're just in the researching stage right now, but any insight or contacts you could share with me would be great.

Thank you!

Laura

Hello Pats Fans!

I wanted to drop you all a quick note to tell you about the next exciting event which New England Player Promotions is hosting.

We've teamed up with Patriots starting Tight End Benjamin Watson and his wife Kirsten in an effort to raise funds for the Watsons' charitable foundation, "One More".

One More is an outreach program dedicated to having a positive impact on "one more" life.  Through One More, Ben and Kirsten have done everything from host toy drives for underprivelaged children to sponsoring youth football clinics.  One More has had a widely positive impact on the communities which it serves.

On Saturday July 25th, beginning at 5:00 PM, Ben will be on hand in Nashua, NH for a NEPP autograph signing event - with 100% of proceeds from ticket sales benefitting One More.  We're bringing Ben to the Nashua Boston Billiard Club, and for those of you who joined us at our Heath Evans event last year, you know what a great venue the BBC is.

In addition to a chance to meet and greet with Ben, we'll be offering our usual assortment of distractions - prizes and giveaways from our Prize Wheel, a raffle, and a silent auction of New England sports memorabilia to benefit One More.  Plus, I'm working on a few new ideas which I'm hoping to unvail...

The vendor tables will be there as well so you may peruse the best in sports memorabilia from both New England Player Promotions and NashuaSports.com.

Autograph tickets will be $20 for any item - your or ours, and yes we'll have a wide variety of signables to choose from.  More info about the event, One More, and the Billiard Club can be found on:

                 www.neplayerpromotions.com

You'll also be able to pre-order your tickets - and I strongly recommend this as supplies will be limited and we'll be assigning individually numbered tickets in the order we recieve orders.  Once you pre-order you'll be able to pick up your ticket at our Will Call table at the event on the 25th.  You can also pre-purchase signables and we'll hold them for you to pick up as well.

I hope you can join us on the 25th to support Ben and One More.  It promises to be a fun time.

And please help us spread the word about this event to your friends, family, and anyone you think may be interested.  We're hoping to raise a significant amount of money for One More and every person who joins us helps!

As always, thanks for the support and please do not hesitate to e-mail or call with any questions or comments.

Go Pats!

I know we've got a Spygate moratorium here unless someone comes up with something new. I've noticed an uptick in Spygate chatter of late, so I finally went ahead and posted some stuff on Bleacher Report which I've been thinking about for a while. I think I've added some new insights. Anyway, if anyone wants to check it out and leave a comment there (keeping this forum clear for current Patriots' discussions) check it out at:

Hmmm . . .  Now Moss, Welker, and Marshall in a three wide receiver set . . .  Hmmm . . . .

My thinking was for the future, Randy. This kid has been an off-field problem. BB's had good luck with making a couple of notorious "bad boys" grow up (Dillon and Moss). Marshall is a tremendous natural talent; and, as you said, has a lot more time ahead of him than does Moss. Moss, Marshall, and Welker would be one hell of a 3-some out there. With Galloway and Lewis behind them, the Pats would probably have the strongest WR corps in the NFL. And they guy throwing too them is pretty good too!

Of course, price is always an object. But, if Denver is really fed up with Marshall, the price may be acceptable. I'm sure BB has been waiting for my input on this; so I thought I'd give him the "OK" to deal! :-)

Marshall is a great player but he wouldn't replace Moss or Welker for me.  Sure he's got longer ahead of him than Moss but he doesn't represent a proven commodity in our offense which is the case for Moss.  I think it's too far from our biggest need and wouldn't make the trade at present unless there were some unreasonably low requirements for us to give up and a reasonably low salary for hi...which I also doubt.

The Redskins on Friday became the second NFL team to announce a partnership with a state lottery, taking advantage of a new league rule designed to bring in more revenue during a weak economy.
The Virginia Lottery will issue Redskins-themed scratch-off tickets for the 2009 season. The tickets will be sold only in Virginia.
"We envision a game that will link lottery fans with the Redskins in new and exciting ways," Redskins chief operating officer Mitch Gershman said.
Breaking from a strict policy that deterred any association with gambling, NFL owners voted Wednesday to allow teams to sign licensing deals with state-sponsored lotteries. The New England Patriots became the first team to announce such an agreement Thursday.
The Redskins had been in negotiations with the Virginia Lottery in anticipation of the owners' vote. Several other NFL teams are considering lottery deals.

Think they'll be adding in the cost of lottery tickets to the season ticket packages before  too long? Like they do with pre-season games - making it a part of the overall season ticket package? I'm being very serious here.

And how long do you think it will be before you are allowed/encouraged to wager on the game you are watching?

I don't think this is a good idea for the future of any sport.

Hi Randy,

I appreciate your position on the throwbacks too. Now that I've vented, it won't be a big deal to me. I liked the old style uniforms, it's just the back and forth thing that bugged me, but I'm past it now. Lately, I've been wearing a hat with the old "Pat Patriot" symbol on it.

PPersonally I like the occasional throwback and even this celebratory 50 years four game return is something I'll appreciate.  I want quality football first and foremost and hope they put as much effort into the CBA as anything else at this point but... while I appeciats your position on not wanting the throwbacks, I'm good with it.

I wear the old and new symols with pride...though it's a lot easier these years than in 91 before the change...the change in victories and logos.

Arrgghhhhh!!!!! I hate throwback games. I loved the old uniforms, particularly the 1980s version of them, but once a team makes a uniform change, they should stick with it through an entire season at least. This four games in one uniform and a bunch of games in another annoys me. The home team getting the choice of who wears white jerseys and who wears jerseys with the team color are variation enough for me. There's too much spectacle. Just play football.

This season will be an interesting one, with the return of Brady, several
coaching changes, the exit of some veterans, the arrival of some new veterans,
and an influx of rookie talent. What I don't think will change is how Belichick
runs the team. So, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Another winning season and another Super Bowl run, this time with the results we
Patriots fans have come to know and love: VICTORY. I can't wait.

It wouldn’t seem like springtime without Favre talking about coming out of retirement.

In August, Wilhite looked ready, and then he pulled a leg muscle, and by the time he was back in rhythm, Wheatley had apparently passed him on the depth chart, but by the end of the season, I would have said that Wilhite had proved himself far more than Wheatley.

Richardson plays smart, except when it comes to knocking Bruschi out for the season!  I wanted Butler at 23 and was delighted to get him.

Since we open v Buffalo, I am certain Springs will start versus TO, and I expect Bodden will be on the depth chart as #1 corner opposite Springs.  But I have plenty of confidence in Wilhite, and I'm still worried about Bruschi's wrist, so I've never not been worried about Wheatley's!!!!!!

My feel for the 'kid' was he started out playing as you'd expect from a lower pick rookie.  By the last fie games of the season I thought his coverage was as good as anyone on the team.  In fact I think he played a lot like Samuel did in his rookie year at the end of the season.  We'll need mroe views for certain but Wilhite impressed me more than the higher round pick of Wheatley...though Wheatley was shoing some positive signs before hsi injury.

    Was anyone even remotely bored?

    7 different trades.
12 guys picked (4 alone in the 2nd round)
2 picks moved to next year (both in the 2nd round)
A starting CB traded for 2-5th round picks
    BB at his best

BB clearly was not enamored with anything in this draft. He twice traded out of
the 1st round and then got a smart, physical safety he wanted. He then moved up
to grab a beast of a NT and then a CB who was predicted to go to us in the 1st
round anyway. He then grabs a huge, monster of a OT who, needs some work but by
all accounts, has the talent. Then, the first day was over.

    My draft musings

We trade the 23rd pick for #26 and a 5th rounder (points: we lose 728 in – 760
    out)
We trade the #26 and the 5th for an early 2nd, early 3rd and a mid 3rd (points:
we win big 895 in – 728 out)
We trade a 2nd, 4th and 6th to move up 7 spots to 40. (points: pretty much
    equal 500 in – 491 out)
We trade a 3rd for a 2nd next year and a 7th. (Figure Jax at 25 in the 2nd next
year and the points are 332 in – 235 out)
We trade another 3rd for a 2nd next year. (Figure Ten at 28 in the 2nd next year
and the points are 300 in – 145 out)

    What this all means

We trade Cassel and Vrabel for Chung.
We target Brace and move up for him.
We wanted Butler from the beginning and wisely waited for him instead of
    reaching in the 1st round
We moved a 3rd round pick next year's 2nd to bolster the future
We grab a top flight WR in Tate in the 3rd who has the talent but needs some
discipline and structure in his life (failed drug test at the combine). He also
has a hurt knee so he won't be rushed into the lineup with Moss, Welker,
Galloway and Lewis ahead of him anyway).
We trade another 3rd rounder for a 2nd next year.
We grab an ILB in McKenzie for what was Assante Samuel. This kid is pure
character and a hard worker and will eventually replace Tedy (another guy who is
pure character and a hard worker). I love this choice. If you have questions,
    read his story.
We trade Hobbs for 2 5ths which are then traded for Rich Ohrnberger, a versatile
OL and Jake Ingram, a long snapper. Questionable but with Hobbs in the last
year of his contract and costing us $2.5 against the cap, I can see why it was
    done.
The most curious pick was in the 7th round when we picked Kent State's Julian
Edelman, a QB who was announced as a WR. BB said they picked him as an
    athelete.

None of the OL that we selected were invited to the combine.
