Congrats Dereck! And sorry to hear about your fellow officers. We will indeed be at Summerfest next weekend. I'm pretty sure Bauer will be there as well. Hope all is well with you! Are you on facebook?

Hey Todd,
I would love to be there this weekend, however I will be attending the benefit for my fellow Milwaukee Police officers who were shot two weeks ago. I look foward to participating next year at the alumni match and harborfest. I hope to be 100% by then (laugh). I hope you are doing great and having a good year. Are you guys playing at the Lakefront 7s in Milwaukee? If so ,let me no. It would be nice to see guys. My wife is expecting our second child any day now.

Hey guys, I know it's late notice, but we are hosting the 11th Annual Revived Harborfest 7s rugby tournament tomorrow, beginning at 9 AM, ending around 5 PM. Weather is predicted to be 75 and sunny, please come out and say hi to the current squad as well as reminisce about old memories with other old boys. If you feel up to playing, bring your boots, if not, that's fine too, we'd just like to see the alums! After the tournament, the team has purchased 2 barrels at Somers House Bar and Grill, which is about a mile from the pitch. Unlike in years past, we host the tournament in Kenosha now at Kennedy Park, right on the lake. For more info, click here:

Hey folks, on June 20th, 2009, the UW-Parkside ruggers, with support from the
Kenosha Vultures rugby club, will be hosting the 11th Annual Harborfest 7s Rugby
Tournament at Kennedy Park in Kenosha, right on Lake Michigan! We postponed the
tournament last year due to the Churchill Cup matches in Chicago, but this
year we are back in full swing. Harborfest in Racine is no longer an event, so
we moved the tournament to an even better location in northern Kenosha, right on
the water. You can expect all the same competitive play, day long concessions,
good weather, and post tournament social that you have come to expect from past
experiences. After the tournament concludes, we will be hosting a social at our
sponsoring bar, Somers House Bar and Grill, which isn't more than 5 minutes from
the pitch. Live bands, free kegs, and singing and story telling will all be a
part. Please refer to the following link for more information and tournament
updates:
http://www.parksiderugby.com/harborfest/
We are limited to 12 mens/collegiate sides and 4 high school sides so get signed
up and entered today!
Cheers!

Forgot to mention the match is at Kennedy Park, the same place we played last
year. For you really old boys, it's the place we used to practice in front of
Murphy's old place right on the lake.

Hey guys, on May 9th, 2009, beginning at 1 PM, we will be hosting the alumni
match again and once again, we need your support. As the years continue to roll
on, we get more and more alums, but we can use as many guys as we can get to the
field, to cut down on any of us having to play too long. Please call or email
me and let me know if you will be coming. Please feel free to bring your
family, and stop in for a brat, burger, or beer at the aftermatch afterwards as
well. Look forward to seeing all of you again!

Hey guys, we are going to have a good showing on May
10th for the alumni match as I've dug up some other
alums who are not on the egroup. My goal is to get up
to date contact information so we can all keep in
touch.
In any event, the details for the Alumni match are as
follows:
When: Saturday, May 10th, 3 PM
Where: Kennedy Park, Kenosha, WI
Kennedy Park is where we used to practice in front of
Murphy's old place on the lake. The address for the
park is 4051 5th Ave., Kenosha, WI. A map can be
found here:
http://www.kenoshavulturesrugby.com/directions/
Please feel free to bring your spouses, significant
others, friends, and kids. The aftermatch will be at
Somers House, which used to be Peg and Lous.
I'd like to see at least 30 alumni there so we can
each only have to play one half if that's all we can
go.
We have some guys coming off surgeries so hopefully
you can still make it to support us oldboy with your
pipes.
We had about 20 last year which was a good start but
every year, I hope we can build on the last.
Look forward to seeing everyone. If you have
questions please call me.
Cheers!

Hey guys, the time has come for our second annual alumni match. It will be held on Saturday, May 10th, 2008, either at the Parkside Rugby Field on campus or at Kennedy Park. Last year, we had about 15-20 guys and this year, I've found more old boys who've committed and plus we graduated some players so I think we can certainly get 30 guys together so no
one has to play more than a half.
The aftermatch will be at Somers House Bar and Grill which is the old Peg and Lous.
Match time has yet to be determined but will most likely be at 2 or 3 PM.
I'd like emails from all of you whether you can make it or not, especially since I haven't heard from some of you in awhile.
If you haven't been to it yet, please check our Parksiderugby.com, our new website that even has an Alumni section on it. My goal is to get a lot of you reconnected and build up the brotherhood of alumni.
Our boys took 3rd place last weekend at Mudfest with a 3-1 record on the day. So far this season, they are 5-1.
I think we can easily take them, but we need the numbers since I doubt few of us are in good enough cardio shape.
I look forward to hearing from all of you!

Hey guys, I must confess that I'm a little
disheartened by our mediocre practice attendence that
last week or two. I appreciate the guys who are
there, but there are some glaring omissions from out
practices and it's going to hurt us this Fall.
We set out this season to win Pool B and the only way
that is going to happen is dedication. I find it hard
to believe that virtually every veteran on the team
had a class today from 3:30-5:30. I understand today
was the first day of school and some people even have
work, but you've know about these practices since May.
If you scheduled all of your classes during our
practice times, then I'm disappointed. I went to
Parkside for two degrees and ALWAYS found a way to
make practices, even when I had night classes.
In any event, 24 guys at practice is nice, but we need
30-40. Please get out and recruit harder and more
often. We need at least 10-15 new guys this semester
to keep our numbers high for future seasons.
Tomorrow, practice is 4:30 - 6:30. I hope to see 30
guys there. After practice, 50 cent wings at Buffalo
Wild Wings. Plan on coming.
Saturday, we have an intrasaquad scrimmage at 1 PM at
the Parkside Rugby Field. We need to get the uprights
up and chalk the field as well. I need everyone to
the field by 11 AM. After our scrimmage, we will be
heading to Murphys for some chow.
Lastly, if you plan on playing this season, you must
read and sign a Code of Conduct form which Chris
Baumgart (Team President) has. EVERYONE must sign one
and return it to him so we can turn them into our
faculty advisor, Dr. Michael Manion. Please read the
document thoroughly and understand that you must
maintain the highest level of integrity throughout
your Parkside days to be eligible to be on the
Parkside Rugby team.
That's all for now.
See you tomorrow.
Cheers!

There is an entire section devoted to the Alumni and I'd like to expand it and get it even bigger. What I need from you guys is some basic bio info.
Name: Colin Opper
Current Location: Waukesha, WI
Relationship Status: Married
Years Played with Parkside: 2002 - 2004
Positions Played? Hooker, scrumhalf, 8-man, some attempts as a back
Still Playing Rugby? Yes, Milwaukee Harlequins, playing flanker, 8-man, hooker
Current News? In response to the rugby award of Glass Ankle of the year in 2003...I had recently went to the doctor and had him check out my right ankle as it was a bit deformed. Low and behold, he told me that I had previously broken my ankle and never got it properly repaired. Now that it has healed on its own, my ankle has a huge calcuim deposit that is pushing on my tendons in my right ankle (that will get repaired after the fall season is over)
Also, if you have some pictures of your families or yourselves or your kids, I'd like to post those as well under your bio. Please email me pics as attachments, provided they aren't huge.
