that would be funny to have a yellow jersey or something to mark the leader.
Maybe the leader has run a flag off the top of their mast or put a bowling ball

Yes, my brother found one really good close-up of my actual boat racing in a small group, probably just after a mark rounding as I had found a similar picture with my boat just having rounded a mark right in front of a pinwheel. There's also a picture of the boat on the far end of the starting line, not having the best start.
I'll have to buy that yellow sleeveless jersey that we can throw on Odell's back so we know where the target is. We just need to get Jay a boat and the two of us will go after David but I'll have to improve my starts as I think David is the most consistent starter we have in the fleet.

1988 Laser for sale – Boat is equipped with the newer Pro-Rig (Racing) package,
new control line package and many other upgrades.
Boat comes with full-rig spars and sail. Radial spars and sails are also
available as well as hull cover, dolly and a two-boat trailer. You could be
racing a nice boat for $1750. Contact John Long at (805) 705-1435 or
jlonginsb@... to arrange to see.
And the reporters will be obligated to reveal that it was photo op and not actual racing.
Other than that, how does one argue with food, drink and cameras?

ok folks
geoff is probably sick of my hair brain ideas
anyway i would love to do a video, but i love the racing too much
it is my mid week break from filmmaking
so here is an idea...
What about a "press day" next year ----not on a Tuesday
we get everybody that can come set up a few marks
invite all the press and photographers we know and put on a show
give the photographers food and beverage on a cozy boat and let get right in there
we could get 20 boats heading full speed to the press boat and get some real dramatic shots
We could even do mock starts
we could have our 20 or so pretend that press boat was a mark so they could see serious moves around the boat (mark).
get them much closer than they could in a race
set up the BBQ, give them beer and let then do interviews over some freshly cooled flesh.
just hair brain idea
but i would love to get in the water too with a waterproof camera and have boats zip by a few inches from the camera.
I really think these boats look brilliant on camera
I love the white sails---they looks so clean and beautiful
speaking of beautiful
check out his guys laser photos---- amazing!!! http://capizzano.com/laserworlds2009/LaserSenior.htm
maybe i should just quit whining and miss a few week of racing and do a video.
anyway, every time we got on the water together it get sweeter
peace

Thanks to your link of the pics, Steve, I've been able to find the guy who chartered my Laser for the Worlds. Now I just need to fly to Turkey to have a serious discussion on proper boat maintenance with him.
In regards to the photo day(s), there's no need to miss racing for this, we can fake a race or two, we don't have to tell the press that the races don't count.

A few people tried jumping Lasers the last Tuesday night with the big breeze. Scotty did a rail slide and I think Karsten tried one too.
I rocked a jump and a nose dive on George's moth (don't tell George) when I got caught in a massive gust and the mainsheet slipped out of my hand, the boom hit the shrouds and I accelerated right up and out of the water and off the boat. That hurt.

That hurt.

I, too, want to thank Chris, Ken, Geoff, Brie and all others involved in planning the party. From my perspective the food was fantastic - what a talented group we are! And Ken was worried about having too many nachos???
Looking forward to a little winter PCSA gathering.

I hear ya, it's pretty cool to think about what's coming to the club/group with the addition of the Junior Sailing. Only problem will be adding all of these soon to be rockstar kids to the Laser fleet, partly because they weigh 120lbs.

Subject: [parkcitylaser] Awards party - November 14th at 7pm
Keep your Saturday night open so you can plan to be at Ken Block's house for the end of season party where you can relive some on the water tactics and prepare yourself for next year! Ken is sending out an evite shortly so make sure to watch for that and let us know if you're going to make it to the party.
As we did last year, there will be some prizes that can be be won in a raffle. We'll put the names of anybody who is attending and has paid their 2009 dues into a 'hat' and draw them. People who have won an award for the racing (top three in Spring, Summer or Overall) are not eligible to win raffle prizes. The person who wins the Most Improved Sailor will also not be eligible to win a raffle prize.
Check the list below to make sure you've paid and are eligible to win!
2009 Paid Members: Buster Pike, Kathy Metcalf, David Odell, Susan Odell, Philippe Astie, Scott Vermerris, Tom Richardson, Karsten Gillwald, Chuck Thomas,
Paul Swan, David Mellon, Geoff Hurwitch, Blaine Parker, Doug Dubois, Ron Carter, Ken Block, John Nuffer, Dust Stewart, Trent Stewart, Linda Motta, Stan Haacke, Brett Haacke, Cal Brubaker, Sara Bresee, Steve Olpin, Bill Rusconi, Lou Siegel, Andrew Gutman, Jeff Kluge, Bill Hockett, Jay Miles, Kris Olszewski, Bob Skinner, Joe Moran, Nell and Ben Nak.
2009 Un-paid Sailors: Jim McIntyre, Andrew Parker, Ben Williams, Pablo Gianfelice, Scott Hallenberg, Jeff Cohen, Charles Haacke, Mike Hayes.
