I fear I understand the regression. Until last Tuesday, I was certain I was becoming worse with every race.
Now, I see a faint glimmer of hope that I won't be 29th in a 28-boat fleet.

I use the Davis nylon telltales, cut them about 8 inches long, and attach the round sticky pad at the end of the batten pocket. I have some extra, so find me next Tues night before racing and I'll give you a couple and show you where I have placed mine.

Also, make sure to place them so that the nylon or strong is coming out the aft end of the sticker that holds it to the sail so that the tell-tale flows better. Place each tell-tale in the middle of a panel of the sail so that it doesn't stick to the seams of a sail (specially the case with a yarn tell-tale) and finally, I like placing them in panels 2(lower half), 4 and 5 (in the middle) if you're counting from the top of the sail.
