The bad weather postponement of Saturday's game to Sunday heralds the first
sign that the OVERT 2006 roller hockey season will be coming to a close in the
not too distant future. Many things have happened this year, both good and
bad (the wily veteran Dusty's broken wrist was very bad) and I will address them
all in my traditional State of the League email later this year. But there
is still much more roller hockey to play.
Excitement continues to build for the beginners, old timers, children and Pat
game on Sunday, Sept 24th at 12 noon. Chances are very good that we will
have a mini clinic for raw beginners before the game. Roller hockey can be a
strenuous activity, especially for the beginner; and good conditioning is always
a plus when contemplating a new career in roller hockey. To that end, I have
alerted the papers of my decision to promote Michael Cuddy to the office of
OVERT Vice President for physical conditioning. One of his new responsibilities
will be to lead the morning OVERT calisthenics program. He does not seem to
be answering his phone or emails since his promotion; so if someone runs into
him, could they please advise him of the new 5:30 AM start time.
Next game Wednesday at 6PM at the usual place.
