I'm not sure, but don't we have rules against lopsided trades of monster players such as this without proper league approval?

I mean, two guys of this caliber, really creates an unfair balance of power within the league.

LOL.  Had to rib you guys a little.

My rationale for roster expansion, was to get AB's for my players that wouldn't normally play.  My Pioneers were so dismally out of the playoff race by the final month last year, that I wanted to get Scott Moore, Ben Zobrist, and Adam Kennedy, a few AB's, but I didn't want to constrict my roster for 26 whole games in October, by adding those clowns to my active roster, and NOT being able to carry Todd Helton, Yuniesky Betancourt, and Dan Uggla.

Of course, I can't speak for everyone, but I play the game for the realism of GM'ing and coaching a ballteam, not for the Wins and Losses, so I like everyone on my roster (regardless of how lousy they are), to get a little playing time.

Expanding by 2 roster slots would certainly be helpful.

Just my 2 cents.

I'll be at my pc.

My cell phone will also be by my side (270) 570-1613, in case connection is lost (I lose connection for 2 minutes, every time someone calls the house - we have DSL.

Unless I do something foolish like trade off the first overall pick, it looks like Fausto Carmona or Ryan Braun will be the first overall player taken this year (for you pre-draft junkies out there).

But again, I'm prone to doing stupid and irrational things (lol).

Yes, that is interesting that expanding roster sizes from 28-30 is leading.
During the last month of the season there are usually two scenarios, either you
are in a playoff race, so you will not usually bring up players from the farm to
play, or you are out of the playoff race, and are looking to see how the young
talent performs. Usually players 29-40 are not of elite, good, or above average,
stature, if so they would be on the 28 man roster.

Any guys this is just food for thought.

Regards,
Elliot

I will close the polls Saturday. So far still only 11 or 12 votes on each
proposal.

2 main proposals that both seem to be passing. Elimination of the off month in
July, and the roster expansion in the final month.

The 3rd proposal is on implementation of the roster expansion. One thing that I
found interesting was that while roster expansion in the final month is passing,
so far it seems that its only expanding from 28 to 30. I thought it rather odd
that eventhough we seem to have a clear mandate to expand the roster (10-2 at
this point), it is the smallest increase that is leading.

Brian

The Chauns are looking to make some moves...

I don't have any names in particular, but I'm looking for one or two
bats in the lineup. I would like to add some power and a really good
contact/OB/BA hitter to the mix.

I'm also looking for some help in the Bullpen and another Starter for
the rotation, and would like to move up in the draft too if possible.

I have picks as well as some youngsters & Vets that could be available:

1B - Travis Hafner, Cle - An off season from last year's Outlaws Batting
Champ. Has power and hits for average.

1B Casey Kotchman, LAA - Hit .296 in his first full season, power coming
along as he learns the ropes. Great defense (a 5 at 1B !).

2B/SS Felipe Lopez, Was - His first season as a Nat wasn't great, expect
him to return to form as one of the best at his poistion in 2008.

OF Rocco Baldelli, TB - Finally healthy and looking to get back to his
old form. Could be a wise investment with some power and good speed.

OF Joey Gathright - Great speed (19 !!), and hit over .300 last season
after taking over the starting role. Interesting youngster w/upside.

OF Matt Murton, ChC - Decent bat, Defense, and some speed. He
could mature this season, his second full season in the bigs.

OF Josh Willingham, Fla - Takes over as the man in Fla, nice bat
just waiting to have a breakout season.

SP Cliff Lee, Cle - Injured last season, but had been one of the Tribes
best young arms before that with a 46-24 record the 3 years before.

Thanks guys !

Now that we're nearing draft day, I've looked at the expendible players on my roster (and they are plentiful).  Let me know if you have any interest in the following:

Ben Zobrist - 27 yr old SS from TB.  Bad stats for 2007, but who knows about the future.
Adam Kennedy - 32 yr old 2B from StL.  Injured for a large part of 2007.
Jamie Moyer - 48 yr old SP  -  33 Starts at a 5 from the Left Side.
Matt Morris - 34 yr old SP - Rated at a 4(z) for 2007. - 32 starts.
Bartolo Colon - 35 yr old SP - Rated at 4 (yz) for 18 starts in 2007.

Subject: Rule Change Proposal - Elimate the off month in July
bslebeck

I have added a new poll based on the following comments from one of the managers.
...eliminate the July month off in the league calendar...  I understand that guys take vacations, but it seems to me that even a 2-week vacation still allows two weeks to get through 13 games or so, which doesn˘t seem like a very arduous task. The extra month added to the schedule really makes the league seem to run very long, and pushes playoffs back into a time of the year that is getting busier and busier for many people.

This has been added as Proposal 2

Additional comment from me:
This rule does not impact the All-Star Game, or lack thereof in any way.  By rule we actually refer to the July mid-season break as the "League All-Star break".  There are seperate issues on why I have not moved forward with All-Star games, but this rule change proposal is not intended as a rule to eliminate the All-Star game from the constitution.

Enter your vote today! A new poll has been created for the
outlaws_bb group:

Elimanate the Mid-season break in July. This would allow the regular season to
complete at the end of September, rather than the end of October.

The constitution currently reads, "The regular season shall commence on April 1
of each year, will break for the month of July (League All-Star break) and
conclude on October 31, with the playoffs conducted in November."

It would be reworded as follows: "The regular season shall commence on April 1
of each year, and conclude on September 30, with the playoffs conducted in
October."

o Yes, lets eliminate the mid-season break and play games in July just like
all the other months of the regular season.
o No, lets keep the mid-season break as we do now.

Some comments concerning awards....
1) Last time we did them was 2005
2) The process was that Dave made recommendations to me, and I approved the selections.
3) To my knowledge we have not voted on these things in recent history.  Maybe someone with a longer history in the league knows more info on this.
4) I started looking at awards for 2007 this past week.

Since I'm still new to the league, I'll throw this out there...As I
recall, I think in the past we've voted for Golden Gloves or MVP's or
ROY's, All-Star team, etc.

Will we be conducting any of those votes this season? I've got one
decent candidate for the ROY honors, so I thought I'd ask. Most of
the rest of my players, really stunk.
