In an effort to prolong the season, just a bit longer I am running the Tecumseth
Trail Marathon in Blomington, Indiana on Dec. 1st. It is an awsome trail race,
mainly single track, dozens of water crossings and a fair amount of hills for
Indiana. I ran it last year and had a great time and am considering organizing
a group trip this year. Info can be found at www.dinoseries.com Drop me a line
if interested.
I am also heading down to Chatanooga in a couple of weeks for the Stump Jump
50K. If anyone has done this race, I would appreciate any advice.

Ottawa was great. I went around and around around in circles for 24hr. and
ran 300laps which is 120km. It took about 2hr into the race before I got a
map of the course from Alan F. the R.D. Then I told him to keep the lights
on at night because I forgot my headlamp. It was fun and can't wait till
next year. If you want a map of the course I can bring it to the next race.
How was Haliburton?
Cameron.

Hi guys.
I'm trying to find a temperate 50 miler sometime in December or
January to get through my dreaded winter training blahs. Anybody know
one that fits the bill or, better yet, know where there's a list of
all the U.S. Ultras?
Thanks. Hope to make it to Vulture Bait.

Dear friends,
after a couple of weeks full of silence the website
www.ultramarathon.be is active again.
Reflections about the WC24H in Canada, the EC/WC 100km in Winschoten,

Hey Duff,
If you can get a copy of "Running Through the Wall" by Neil Jamison, you'll
find many inspiring stories that might help your friends with the mental aspect
of running...not necessarily injury rehabilitation though.

Jody, am I reading correctly that you did not pay enough of an entry

Haliburton was great! What a tremendous job organizing that -- thanks to
all! Even enjoyed the Friday night fireworks.
And since I carefully read the instructions, including Note 2: due to
logistics the 25K will be 26K (and there were several of us who didn't
have enough of that monster truck road and did an extra couple of km,

Hi Keith,
So sorry you blew up. The temps were brutal in SW Ontario. I hope
the cabin was a good consolation :) . Speaking of which, I haven't
received a cheque for $118 yet. I am sure it is in the mail ;) . If
you have lost my address it is: 107 Allen St W., Waterloo, ON N2L 1E6

Haliburton results are on the www.ouser.org site. Still waiting to
hear from Ottawa. Cheers, Sharon

Hey, guys. Just a reminder that our grand finale and last race of the
season - Vulture Bait's early bird rates are quickly coming to a
close. Sign up before Thursday to save some money.
If you are looking for extra incentive, this is our season wind up race
and we will be celebrating with a fantastic lunch from the London
Pacers and of course a cake!!
Hope to see you there, Sharon
Hey All!
Yes - Helen - you are a crazy woman and the Haliburton course is
absolutely beyond a doubt one tuff course! I LOVE IT!!!
For me, attempt number 2 at finishing my damn first 100 didn't work
out. Sign me up again though as I'll be back in 08' to try
again. My champagne will sit in my basement for the year. I want
that belt buckle!
Thanks to all the Hali volunteers too. It really, really, really
makes a difference coming into the aid stations and having y'all make
jokes & tend to our every little needs and wims.
Running rocks!

Yes, thank you Helen and your team! The course was beautiful, very well marked
(I went off course in the 50km in 2004, so appreciated the extra effort) and
your volunteers were awesome! This was my first 50miler, and was a great
experience.
Thanks again,
Derrick and Sara

Trail runners and ultra runners,
I would like to share some information on a novelty event. Perhaps you or
your high school children would find this event to be an interesting
challenge, while having lots of fun at the same time.
On Saturday September 22nd we will be hosting a unique event called Run and
Putt, on the grounds of Camp Heidelberg, in North Waterloo, Ont. This event
will serve as a fundraiser for the K/W Optimist Club. ("Friend of youth")
This is a trail running and mini golf putting event, and limited to 300
participants in four time slots (75 runners per/slot). The event will
feature a 4km high school and 8km adult event.
Registration for this event is done only threw www.onlineregistrations.ca.
There are no transaction fees to register for these events. The cost is
$24.00 for the 4km and $24.00 for the 8km.
All participants receive a goodie bag. One in every three participants will
receive a draw prize per running slot at the completion of their race.
Complete results/photo's will be available on www.runandputt.com the
following day.
Trail or Ultra runners interested using the trail as a 3-4 hour training run
after the their 8km can do so by notifying us in advance.
Note: Volunteer certificates will be issue to high school volunteers.

Cameron wrote to me today saying that he wouldn't be going after all.
Anyone else willing to take a sweaty runner back to civilization?
At this point, anything on the GO line would be great!
Thanks,
Jody

Hi Jody,
I'm thinking of doing the 50km but will be going to Haliburton for sure to
hang out. I don't mind driving you home on Saturday afternoon. I live in
Scarborough so could drop you off at a close by bus stop. I got lots of room
in my car.

I'm signed up for the Haliburton 25k next week, and plan to camp with
my family on Friday night. My son, however, just got invited to a
birthday party he'd really like to go to on Saturday afternoon back
here in Toronto, so they're hoping to take off mid morning and leave
me to hitch a ride back sometime Saturday (I can't stay till Sunday
as I have to be at the airport around noon on Sunday). Would anybody
coming back to/through Toronto on Saturday have an extra spot? I
haven't been running much but I'm not too too fat... I'm in South
Etobicoke but will find my way home by TTC from whereever.
Thanks,
Jody

Well, have just checked the US ultra list and can now give an update on
the registration. The online is full and there are a maximum of 25
mail in entries. Good luck, Sharon

This year was the first time that I had an opportunity to run in the
Paradise Lake trail race.
It was nice see so many familiar faces and especially new comers to the
trail running scene.
For some strange reason, I am a big fan of loop courses and don't normally
like to carry a water bottle, so I really enjoyed the 5km loop and it was
great to have two fully stocked aid stations on the course.
Thanks to Ryne and his wonderful volunteers for hosting this event for the
YMCA Partners for Youth Campaign and OTS Series.

Registration for the Umstead 50/100 mile on April 5, 2008 is now open.
I cannot speak highly enough of this run. It is really spring in North
Carolina this time of year and you will be treated to the true
definition of Southern hospitality.
As I recall, this race filled some time in October of last year so
don't delay for too long if this is on your list of things to do in
2008.
Cheers, Sharon
