I am thinking of participating in the Comrades Marathon in South
Africa on May 24th this year and I'm wondering if anyone has any
experience with this event that they could share. I'm particularly
interested in such mundane logistics as: Is it worthwhile renting a
car? Also, any suggestions as to where to stay? This year is a `down'
race so it will begin in Pietermaritzburg and finish in Durban. Does
one get a hotel room at the finish or the start. Or both??? Since it
is a point to point race, how do you get back to the start after you
finish (assuming you do)?

I'd love to hear from anyone who can offer any intelligence on this.
