Hey Scott et al,I was thinking about doing SS 50miler or 100 and was remembering
the climbing debate.
A few questions-When you have measured SS loop, and you mentioned it being as
much as Western, I find that quite impossible. When you measured did you divided
the total in half to account for the loss in elevation. I would find it
reasonable if SS 50 was 4000-6000 climb. From my years of running in SS I recall
the longest climb being 2-3 minutes-Where Western or North Shore has 1.5-2 hour
climbs.
Will this debate be cleared up so we can have an accurate measure? I also think
some of the fastest US guys who have issues running Western in under 20 would
most likely run sub 16s 17s in SS (Jurek, Torrence, Ricklefs, Mackey, Sybrowsky,
Zealand).
I guess in the end it does not matter b/c we all run the same race.
