Pat,

I have several guys I think are well over the 250 weight limit on the T8 vers 2  I haven't heard them say anything about their wheels breaking.

Looks like I am going to go trikking on the Pinnalas TRail on the West Coast Sun morning somewhere around Clearwater. If you would like to join us let me know. The plans are diffinite yet, but looking for around 11 a.m probably earlier and location I am waiting to hear from Ivan who knows the area.

recommended limit of 250; i've read of problems with wheels cracking
with heavy riders. heard first-hand of any such cases?

and bj, thanks for the links. one of the west trail stations is not
too far from me, so i will be hitting the trail as soon as i'm up to
it.

Hi pat! Yeah, once your kids see how much fun your
having, you can be sure they will want their own. My
10 year old rides our T8's but its a bit big so I plan
on getting her one soon. Looking forward to the cooler
months upcoming, (85 degrees instead of 99, wink wink)
but at least a good portion of the WOT is covered with
trees. It sure helps.

As far as the weight issue, I have heard of people
around the 300 mark using the Trikke with no issues. I
would guess it depends on how rough you use it. Normal
riding shouldn't be a problem. If you haven't been
there yet, check out www.trikketalk.com . There are
riders from around the world who share info and ideas
and are always willing to help.

Let me know when your Trikke arrives and if time
allows, the wife and I will meet you on the trail for
a bit! Watching other Trikkers is a good way to pick
up the motion.

Steve,

I have done part of the West Orange Trail, but haven't checked out the Seminole Trail. Guess I can it on the state web sites, but curious where and how long is it.

aspect of the Trikke, you won't want to get off of it!

Depending on the model you purchased, you will need to
pick the right place to get familiar with the feel of
the Trikke. A T8, with the poly wheels will favor a
flat, smooth surface where a T12, or a T8 convertable
might allow you to use a slightly rougher surface. I
suggest the West Orange Trail or the Seminole trails
to learn on since they are very smooth. Don't be
afraid to give a little push to get moving in the
beginning. Once you try a little of the side to side
motion and start to feel the 'sweet spot' it will just
keep getting easier and easier each time you jump on
it!

You are in the minority right now. I haven't seen one
other Trikke, (except my wife's) in the Orlando area
since I purchased mine back in April. But each time I
hit the trails, more and more people stop me to

to plan a group ride with soon. I have already scoped
out a great ride and will announce a date soon. So,
practice up and be ready! Hope to ride with you soon.

You have some nice trails in your area too. I have done part of the West Orange Trail. You have a trail that is about 3 miles long in town near a shopping center. Check out this link to find trails in your area.

and here is another link       http://www.railtrails.org/
Trails are nice, usually little wider than sidewalks and you don't have the intersections.

We at Trikke Nation have reluctantly decided that we must cancel the
third and final stop in the Trikke Nation Tour for a couple of
reasons.

The high gas prices have made travel by auto very difficult and
expensive. As we have been funding this tour ourselves, the current
gas prices have made the trip to Jacksonville Florida somewhat cost
prohibitive.

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina many families have been affected by
the loss of family, friends, and property. We all pray for those who
have suffered a loss and ask God to guide them through this time of
trouble. All of us have been affected by the hurricane directly or
indirectly and everyone must re-adjust their lives in order to
survive.

Although we did our best to maintain the tour and meet and support
our Trikke family in Florida we must take into account those things
that take higher priority. Trikke Nation plans to include Florida in
its tour next year and promise the event to be very exciting.

Thank You,

Theo Rushin

Steve,

I have been away in Va visiting family in the Blue
Ridge Mountains -- even got in some trikking in
thehills ! Loved it.

I couldn't get your link to work.

I don't know what "Monsters" are -- not my generation
I guess :)

Aug 20 is off for right now. I am waiting to here from
Theo for another date for Jax.

If you haven't ordered your 12 let me know. I am a
dealer too so glad to help another Florida trikker !

BJ... here is a link to the trails in Seminole County. The trail I
spoke of in Altamonte starts at the San Sebastian trailhead.

www.seminolecountyfl.gov/pw/trails/trails_semwekiva

Interesting reading... they mention that they are planning an
'underpass' for the trail at HWY 434 and Markham Woods road. Thats
gonna take some doing. Its a very busy intersection and they cant shut
it down so they will have to tunnel under. Can't wait to see that!

Hope that link shows you what you wanted to know. It lists all the
trails in the county. August 20th is getting close... hope I have my
T12 by then. I may bring my nephews to use my T8's if so. they got
good on them fast. Its gonna be fun!

Are you familiar with the Monsters? They were in Jax last week. Just
curious. See you soon!

Steve,

You mentioned ...an Altamonte Springs trail. Is there

Hi, and welcome to the group! Yes, there are many miles of Trikke
trails here in the Orlando area. The West Orange section runs from the
Lake/Orange county line all the way to Apopka. There's another that
starts in Altamonte Springs and runs to Sanford area and on the east
side of town the trail runs just off hwy. 50 for several miles. A few
inclines in all of the trails but they are negotiable.

Since your in Tampa, do you know if they allow any riding at the
Channelside area? I haven't been to that area in a while but I know
it's been upgraded lately with shopping and eateries. Do they allow
any bikes/blades around there?

Hopefully in the future we will plan a gethering in the Orlando area
and we hope you will consider joining us! Again, welcome!

Great to see another person interested in trails !

http://www.dep.state.fl.us/gwt/guide/index.htm

I posted this link in the Orlando Trikkers group file
section. It shows most of the trails in Fl. When
looking I didn't see several you listed -- maybe they
are City Trails -- wonder if they can be found online
to find maps -directions how to get on them.

I have done the West Orange TRail some -- close to
Apoka Lake. It is a real nice trail for trikking,
some little inclines, etc. Haven't done the Pinellas
trail on the trikke yet. I used to go over and blade
it and think it is probably the best trail in FL.

The Suncoast Trail -- for distance . It runs along the
interstate so noisy traffic on one side and then nice
farm, pasture land on the other -- very oppposite
environments it seems. Very protected fromt he
interstate failry new trail.

Sorry to say North East Fl is far behind. We do have
the Baldwin Trail and recently a new trail opened at
Little Talbot Island State Park. It is only about 2
miles long but interesting trail for nature sights !
It is suppose to be extended in the near future.

Here at the beach in Jacksonville we don't have any
trails for trikking, but we do have some roads that
are not for through traffic so people use them. I do
12 miles here, nice ride.

There are a nuber of good trails in the Tampa Bay are. The best being
the Pinellas Train in St. Pete and along Bruce B. Downs in New Tampa.
These are fine for the TRIKKE 8 (also new T7 and T8.5 Convertible).
Bayshore gets crowded and a little rough at the expansion joints. The
Gandy Bridge (Friendship Trail) is also very enjoyable (need the T8 or
T12 to deal with the expansion joints.

Please post appropriate trails et al for the Orlando area...

Hi Theo! You know... they do have special events, races... marathons
and such at locations around and in the Disney Parks. Some do involve
bikes and skates. Don't see why they would exclude Trikkes. We'll have
to see.

Looking forward to August in Jacksonville! Any news on a meeting place
yet and will we need lookouts to spot the New York cops so we can make
a clean getaway?!? ;-)

Have a fun and safe 4th! Welcome to the group!

Steve

Theo,

When we saw the guy ridding the Seagway in Pittsburgh
and when I have seen them before they seemed sorta
slow --- Well different impression with what I saw on
Venice Bch yesterday. Saw a young girl zipping around
FAST. I can see accidents happening there in crowds
for sure. I had never seen one going that fast before.

Well then we need to make that place a little happier. They seem to
adopting the Segway and it makes sense. I really like the Segway.
However, the Trikke can also be another alternative to getting around
the park. I wonder what we can do to get that started?

Theo,

The last time I was in Orlando I stayed at the Wyndham
Palace Resort - downtown Disney. I did trikke the
downtown disney area early morning before it was
really open and no one said anything to me. I will say
I don't remember seeing one bike ! We were there in
the afternoon for dinner, no bikes either . The
"Happiest Place in the World" is only that way when
you are doing everything their way !

Steve,

Funny, didn't even even see that -- Ivan is a lone
trikker on the west coast ! He now has 2 other
trikkers I think, but for a long time he talked about
never seeing another trikker.

Look forward to meeting you guys !

Hi BJ! Thanks for the nice invite! I would like to chance to ride
along the beach real soon. I think the sea breeze would make it much
cooler than the trails here in Orlando. I don't think I'll make it
before you leave for Cali., but I am planning on the 20th of August
for the East Coast Tour! Have you heard any further plans for that
event? The first 2 stops are set. Wish I could make Central Park!
That would be cool. We were there the day before they dropped the
orange 'gates' back in Feb. It was still impressive just to see the
paths lined with the frames, ready to be deployed. The color contrast
was striking, or should I say 'strikking'! I think Trikke'n in the
park would be excellent. Although the elevation changes would be a
problem in some places. But the downhills... hoooooo!

To answer your questions, we have the T8's, first edition I believe.
As soon as the T12's become available again, I'm all in! I can't
wait.

I look forward to Trikke'n with your real soon. Have a good time out
west. Take pictures! Talk soon!

Steve

(BTW... Is Ivan another trikker or are you expecting last years storm
to re-visit?!? I vote no storms this year. Cuts into Trikke time!)

Steve,

You sound like most of us finding the trikke from the TV info
commercial. It took me a couple nights watching the vedio and then
running to a Kmart parking lot to find my "sweet" spot. Then the
months of spreading the "Trikke word" that never stops-- people
stoping you and wondering what it is !

I introduced the West Orange Trail to the Trikke last fall I think.
YOu must be doing good to do those hills on that trail ! I would like
to do more on it too! I also did the little trail in town near a
shopping center -- can't think of its name about 3 miles long. Last
week I checked out the Sun Coast Trail. Now if you are into doing a
long ride -- 40 miles long -- it would be great, but it runs along the
Sun Coast Parkway, so you have traffic flying by, so sure not a
peaceful ride like your West Orange Trail or even the Pinnelas Trail.

If you just got your trikke from the TV ad, I wonder if it is the
version 1 - the original Trikke. There is a Sport 8 version 2 but
trikke is out of them as well as the 12 for now. We are hoping the
shipment comes in early July !I learned on the version 1 too but I
think you will like the 2 even more and better yet the 12 -- and you
will learn soon from the Kickbiking group there are some new versions
on the way that everyone is biting at the bit to get their hands on!

Hopefully we can trikke together somtime soon. I leave for CA on the
30th and will be back July 14 --by then I hope the trikkes will be
available. My route here at Atlantic Beach is usually a 8 -12 mile
ride down the beach. Only about 2.5 hour drive from you. Come check
out the beach here sometime. You can try out the Roadster 12 ! I will
be around till the 30th Always great to see someone else finding this
great experience !

Hello! My name is Steve and I recently purchased a Trikke8 for myself
and one for my wife. When I saw the ads on TV, I knew this was going
to
be a blast to ride. So far, I haven't seen any other Trikkes on the
West Orange Trail, but I hope that will change. It sure is
an 'attention-getter'! Every time I ride, I spent almost equal
amounts
of time riding as I do answering questions about my Trikke. So, if
you
have a Trikke, or just have questions about them, join the group and
let's see if we can spread the word.

In the upcoming weeks, when we see how many folks we have join, we
will
work on organizing a ride or a rally. I've been looking at some other
Trikke groups and they even have participated in local parades!

I'm open to suggestions for possible events or gatherings and look
forward to hearing where you like to ride your Trikke.

ROCK AND ROLL!

Steve
