What: Trikke gathering and ride

Where: Blanchard Park - Little Econ Greenway Trail, Orlando

When: Saturday May 17, 2008

Time: 08:00 (Before it gets too hot. It is Florida after all! )

Hey Trikkers! Let's move things to the East side of Orlando for this
ride. Blanchard Park is where the Little Econ Greenway Trail begins
and extends West for almost 8 miles. The trail runs beside the Little
Econ River and offers nice vistas and plenty of green scenery.
Blanchard park has plenty of room to picnic or play
tennis/basketball/baseball so if you have family that doesn't Trikke,
they can play in the park while we ride. It's not a very long trail,
but it is very nice.

The park opens at 08:00, so let's take advantage of the coolness of
the morning, before the sun hits 'broiling' status!

Here's a link to the park:
http://www.orangecountyfl.net/dept/c...s.asp?ParkID=8
I hate to...beat a dead horse but, remember to bring plenty of water
to re-hydrate.

I plan on hanging at the park till 08:45 - 09:00 to give some
assistance any newcomers who show up to see what Trikke is all about
and 'carving' tips for those needing them. Then we'll take off and
you can ride as a group or just do your own thing, depending on your
level of ability. As always, go as far as you feel comfortable with,
no pressure.

I hope to see some of our more experienced Trikkers there to offer
their knowledge base to those who need it. I've had many requests
from locals for rides and tips and I will be sending an email to my
club list for those who do not visit TrikkeTalk (although I don't
know why they wouldn't), so you may meet some new Trikkers from your
area and make new Trikking buddy's!

Steve,
Looks like 'zero' activity on this list? Tried to do a [search] on
trikketalk.com to get the info on the 'Poker Run', but couldn't find it.
Where is the info posted? I'll try Andy's site next.

Hey Steve,

We have 19 Trikke riders already registered.  I’m sure there are more that haven’t contacted me yet.  This is really going to be fantastic Trikke showing.  Keep rallying the Trikke troops!

Fellow Trikkers...

Is there anyone else from the Orlando area planning on attending the Rails to Trails ride in Inverness Fl, on Sunday Oct. 1st?

Also, I finally put an announcement in the Orlando Sentinel running this Friday, 9/22 - 9/28. Hopefully we will find more Trikkers that are not aware of the local clubs and we can start planning some local gatherings.

Hi Sherri!

I'm not sure where Cypress Park is but if it has good Trikking areas, I'm all there. My family and I Trikke on the West Orange Trail, Cross Seminole Trail and a few local parks in the Central Florida area.

How long have you had your Trikke? Which type do you ride?

Watch for an announcement for a local gathering soon!

Hi Sherri;
Welcome to the Trikke family. I live up in the panhandle (Ft. Walton Beach) but
get to Orlando sometimes. Also looking for good trikke spots when I visit. There
are some trikkers in your area. Many visit (or join) TrikkeTalk.com. Very
helpful forum for all levels of 'Trikking'. They even have a thread for 'Florida
Trikkers'. Why don't you give it a try?

12th Annual

Rails to Trails

Bike Ride on the

Withlacoochie State

Trail

Sunday, October 1, 2006

12th Annual Rails to Trails of the Withlacoochie Bike Ride - We're taking advantage of this Rails to Trails event to have a Florida Trikke Fun Ride. This is a great opportunity for area Trikke riders to participate in a Rails to Trails event.  Most importantly, we're (the Trikke community) showing our support for the awesome trails that have been provided for our FREE use year round.  Because we're supporting our Rails to Trails programs the Trikke will gain even more respect from the cycling community.

I've spoken with John Simpson, President, Trikke Tech, Inc and BJ Viers about this event.  The three of us; Trikke Tech, Inc, TRIKKE Tampa and First Coast Trikkes will host this Florida Trikke Fun Ride event that is in conjunction with the Rails to Trails 12th Annual Bike Ride.  However, you will be responsible for your own registration and fees with the Rails to Trails of Withlacoochie Ride Citizens Support Organization.  We will not require any additional fees for our supporting Trikke riders that show to this event.  See below for more information on registration for the 12th Annual Rails to Trails of the Withlacoochie Bike Ride.

This isn't a competition.  It's an opportunity for our area Trikke riders to meet each other and do a Trikke Fun Ride like Florida has never seen.  We hope to see Trikke riders of all ages and all models come from all over the southeast!  Be sure to pass this newsletter on to anyone you know that has a Trikke.  Help us make this the biggest Trikke gathering and ride ever!

Prizes for Pre-Registrants - Win a FREE TRIKKE T8C-Air!  In addition to the event, the Rails to Trails of Withlacoochie will be having a prize drawing for all of the pre-registered participants.  Pre-register before Sept 15th to be eligible for the prize drawings.  After speaking with the event coordinator he advised me there will be approximately 150 prizes given away.  At least 2 of them will be $500+ bicycles.  Trikke Tech, Inc, Trikke Tampa and First Coast Trikkes will be donating a new 2007 Deluxe Trikke T8C-Air.  The drawing for all prizes will be held by the Rails to Trails Support Organization the night before and a list of all winners will be posted in their booth at the event.  This Rails to Trails event is a great opportunity for you to  win a new Trikke T8C-Air or other fabulous products donated by area businesses.

What to expect:

-After you check in with the Rails to Trails booth confirming your registration you will need to come and check in at the TRIKKE booth.  You'll see our custom TRIKKE Tampa trailer and canopy with banners.  BJ and I will be there.

-We'll verify your Rails to Trails registration, have you sign a "Trikke Safety on the Trail" document and give you a TRIKKE goodie bag.  The safety document is for your, our and others protection.  The Trikke is a unique machine but its driver can be a hazard to himself and others on the trail if proper safety and trail etiquette isn't practiced.  We want the reputation of the Trikke and it's driver to be a positive one.

-We'll also mark you down for the amount of miles you plan on riding so we can track your "Rock-N-Miles" Club badge progress.

- Every Trikke rider that shows to the event will receive a free "TRIKKE" goodie bag.  Goodie bags include a TRIKKE Tampa t-shirt, a First Coast Trikke's t-shirt and a TRIKKE water bottle from Trikke Tech, Inc.  Each bag will also include your choice of a Tampa Trikker's decal and/or a First Coast Trikker's decal that can adhere to your Trikke.

- If you complete 5, 10, 15, 25, 50, 75 or 100 miles on this day we'll award you your "Rock-N Miles Club" decals to put on your Trikke.  This is a way of showing off what you have accomplished and being proud of your awesome Fun-Fitness machine.  Click Here to see a sample of the decals.  Click the image to the left to see the decals on a Trikke.

Please come out and participate in our first ever Florida Trikke Fun Ride and support the Florida Rails to Trails program.  It's truly a win-win situation.  Keep in mind when you register for the 12th Annual Withlacoochie Bike Ride you also get a t-shirt with the Rails to Trails logo on it.

Location:

Withlacoochee State Trail
315 North Apopka Avenue
Inverness, FL 34450-4201

Hotel Information: For anyone that is planning on staying in a hotel this is where some of us will be at.  It's right on the trail, literally.  From the hotel the registration point on Sunday morning is about 1 mile away and you can ride your Trikke from there if you choose.  Central Hotel, 721 Highway 41 South, Inverness, FL 34450, Phone: 352-726-4515.   If you go to www.kayak.com and click on the hotel tab and enter Inverness, FL it comes up with 8 hotels that are within about 30 miles.

Hey Everyone,

I hope you're enjoying your Ultimate Fun-Fitness Machine!  The Trikke is truly an amazing machine that is taking the nation by storm.  You're in on the beginning of the next generation of fun, fitness and transportation!

We have some really good topics in this newsletter.  Be sure to check out the Trikke Maintenance section and the new videos of how to fold and unfold your Trikke.

Trikke Tampa Club Ride - This weeks ride is going to be on the Upper Tampa Bay Trail at the Wilsky Blvd Trailhead.  Most of the trail is shaded and there is a long section that has a canopy of trees over the trail.  It's almost like a tunnel.  Click on the yellow "View Map" button in the upper left for directions.  As far as a group ride we won't ride a long distance.  Only a couple of miles up and then back.  Others that are feeling energetic are encouraged to try and ride further and maybe the whole length of the trail.

TRIKKE Maintenance, LUBRICATION - Has your Trikke developed a squeak near the cambering system?  Here are a couple pictures of the lubrication points on the cambering system.  It's recommended to use a 3-in-1 household oil for general lubrication.  Periodically you may want to use a heavier oil or lightweight grease on the folding mechanism axle.

WARNING:  You may lubricate the spring section of the folding mechanism but DO NOT lubricate the tapered part of the locking pin that goes into the hole of the extension arm.  DO keep the tapered pin and hole clean of dirt, sand and debris.  Any foreign matter in the hole or on the pin can cause the system to be difficult to release when folding and unfolding your Trikke.

Click on the images to the left to enlarge and see the details of the lubrication points.  You can also check out this maintenance tip as well as others at the following link: http://trikketampa.com/web_template/maint.html

Folding and Unfolding Your Trikke Videos - Having troubles folding and unfolding your Trikke?  Check out these video's and see if it helps.  It's really simple to do once you know the technique and practice it a couple of times.  Go to my "Trikke Video's" link or click here.

Online Trikke Forums - Below are links to a couple of very active online Trikke forums.  If you have a question there are many people that can help provide an answer.  If you have a personal testimonial about your experience on your fantastic machine everyone loves to hear it.  These forums are great places to find others that are experiencing the same excitement and enjoyment that you are and everyone is always waiting to read about others Trikke adventures.

Hydration -  Always remember to carry water with you on ANY Trikke ride you do.  Even when you're not thirsty your body is consuming water.  Even though you don't think you're sweating you probably are.  If it's windy or just the wind blowing by from riding your sweat will evaporate before it accumulates on your skin or clothes.  Mainly in the dryer climates.  Water, water and more water!  Water will also help to avoid cramps in your muscles that evening or the next day.  Also remember to drink products like Gatorade to replenish the electrolytes.  Another thing about water is it's one of the best weight loss products there is.  Drink at least a gallon a day and your body will start flushing out stored amounts of water that it thinks it needs in reserve.

Note: If you're using a CamelBak or similar hydration system with a bladder and you're putting anything other than water into it then be sure to thoroughly clean it after use.  The sugars and such can cause bacteria growth if not cleaned properly.  Also keep the tube and mouth piece clean.

Air-Air-Air - AIR YOUR TIRES DURING ASSEMBLY OF YOUR NEW TRIKKE. The tires may feel like they have pressure out of the box but they're ONLY half inflated.   Please, do not stand on your Trikke with pneumatic wheels until properly inflated.  Don't forget to very regularly check the air pressure in your pneumatic tires.  A loss of 10 to 20psi can make a huge difference in your ride and speed.  A big question came up about the T12 having "40psi" labeled on the tire.  Disregard that label. Trikke Tech specs are 80psi in the rear tires.  Both the T12 and the T8C-Air require at least 80psi in the rear wheels and 75 to 80psi in the front.  You should check your air pressure at least once a week.  For new owners of a T12 or T8C-Air:

Parts and Accessories - Needing parts or accessories for your Trikke?  Be sure to check out our parts and accessories pages.  I'll be adding even more items in the coming weeks.  Click Here to check it out.

Affiliate Program - Don't forget about our Trikke Tampa affiliate program.  This is your chance to earn cash while you're getting fit and having fun on your Trikke.  It's free, it's easy and the marketing tools are provided!  I'm starting to add banner ads for your affiliate link in the members area. If you haven't signed up or want to learn more about our affiliate program please Click Here.

2006 Trikke Infomercial - Trikke Tech is seeing a tremendous response.  The infomercial only sales the T8v.2 and the T6v.1 but it's sparked a Trikke interest for people to do their research and find out about the T12 and T8C-Air.  Sales are what help Trikke Tampa and other clubs to continuously be able to host club rides, events and support that you expect.  So please, refer your friends and curious people to TRIKKE Tampa or an affiliate so we can continue to provide you the service and support that you expect.

-Save 10% OFF your Next Trikke purchase - Mention this newsletter and 10% OFF when you call to place your order and we'll give you a 10% discount off the retail purchase price of any Trikke model!   Order 3 or more Trikke models and get a whopping 15% OFF!

Competitive Pricing - Find a better deal somewhere else?  Call Trikke Tampa, we can beat the competition.

Feel free to call me or send an email to let me know you're going to be at our ride so we can expect you.  You can reply to this email, call (813) 610-7384 or email me at andy@... .

Happy Carving from TRIKKE Tampa and we'll see you this weekend!

Trikke Tampa Club Ride & Clinic - This weeks ride is going to be at Gadsen Park next to Macdill AFB.  I'm also including a clinic with this week's ride.  So, for the ones that may need some additional instructions on riding or need me to take a look at your Trikke for maintenance issues we will be there to take care of it on the spot.  This trail is only a 2 mile loop.  It's a great trail for the kids and beginners.  One half of the trail is shaded and the other half is around a lake.  You might even have the opportunity to see planes taking off from the base. Click on the yellow "View Map" button in the upper left for directions.

Previous Club Ride - Our last ride was on the Upper Tampa Bay Trail.  A VERY nice trail with LOTS of shade.  We had 10 Trikke riders that rode 8 to 10 miles.  Steve and I saw an alligator 6+ feet long.  We didn't get a picture of it but if you go to the photos it was in the water next where our pictures are being taken under the bridge.  We really had a good time.  Click Here to see the photo's.

Online Trikke Forums - Below are links to a couple of very active online Trikke forums.  If you have a question there are many people that can help provide an answer.  If you have a personal testimonial about your experience on your fantastic Fun-Fitness Machine, everyone loves to hear it.  These forums are great places to find others that are experiencing the same excitement and enjoyment that you are and everyone is always waiting to read about others Trikke adventures.

Trikke Clubs around the country and Canada - There are a few Trikke owners around the country and Canada that are trying to form clubs or points of contact for doing group rides.  So, I'm going to do my best to help.  Below is a list of states and contact information.  I will get this on my website very soon but you can also go to www.TrikkeTalk.com where they have forums for each state.  Everyday there are numerous posts about Trikke topics such as testimonials, Trikke issues and much more.  If anyone else is interested in being a POC for rides or creating a Trikke Club in your area please send me an email at andy@... .

Air-Air-Air - Don't forget to very regularly check the air pressure in your pneumatic tires.  A loss of 10 to 20psi can make a huge difference in your ride and speed.  A big question came up about the T12 having "40psi" labeled on the tire.  Disregard that label. There's also a blue printed label stating "80psi" on the tire.  Trikke Tech specs are 80psi in the rear tires.  Both the T12 and the T8C-Air require at least 80psi in the rear wheels and 75 to 80psi in the front.  You should check your air pressure at least once a week.  For new owners of a T12 or T8C-Air: AIR YOUR TIRES DURING ASSEMBLY OF YOUR NEW TRIKKE. The tires may feel like they have pressure out of the box but they're ONLY half inflated.   Please, do not stand on your Trikke with pneumatic wheels until properly inflated.

If you need a jpg or pdf file to give to a printing company to print your affiliate cards then let me know.  I can customize it with your affiliate information and email it back to you.  I plan on adding a service where you can purchase your affiliate cards from me.  I'm trying to get the details worked out on the process.

Save 10% OFF your Next Trikke purchase - Mention this newsletter and 10% OFF when you call to place your order and we'll give you a 10% discount off the retail purchase price of any Trikke model!  FREE Shipping on orders $200 or more.  You also receive a FREE Trikke Tampa T-Shirt and FREE water bottle cage with each T12 Roadster or T8Convertible purchase.

Competitive Pricing - Find a better deal somewhere else?  Call Trikke Tampa, we can beat any valid price of a genuine Trikke model.

Feel free to call me or send an email to let me know you're going to be at our ride so we can expect you.  You can reply to this email, call (813) 610-7384 or email me at andy@... .

Happy Carving from TRIKKE Tampa and we'll see you this weekend!

Hey Everyone,

I hope you're not letting the heat discourage you from riding your Ultimate Fun-Fitness Machine!  I think we have some good topics in this newsletter.  Be sure to check out the Trikke Maintenance section.

Trikke Tampa Club Ride - This weeks ride is going to be on the Upper Tampa Bay Trail at the Wilsky Blvd Trailhead.  This is my first time to launch at the Wilsky entrance.  Cari and Jay Jarman recommended this ride and meeting at the Wilsky Trailhead.  They rode it together last Sunday and said it was level and very shaded.

Previous Club Ride - Our last ride was at the awesome Ft. Desoto Park.  We had 16 Trikke riders and 2 bikers that rode with us.  We really had a good time.  Click Here to see the photo's.  After the 6.5 mile ride a few of us walked over to the beach to cool off.  It was really neat, we had a Manatee swim right next to us.  Mike E. was able to get right next to it and swim with it for a few yards.  It was cruising on by so he couldn't keep up with it.  I've seen Manatee's inside Tampa Bay but not in the Gulf.

TRIKKE Maintenance, Tire Rotation - Click on thumbnail image to the left.  Probably the most cost you will have maintaining your Trikke is wheel replacement.  Did you know you can get twice the life out of your rubber tires or polyurethane wheels by simply rotating them periodically?  Most may know this, most probably don't rotate the tires or wheels as often as they should.  When you see significant wear on your tires or poly wheels then it's time to rotate the left rear wheel to the right rear wheel and vice versa.  You may rotate your tires 2 or 3 times during their life span.  Don't wait until you've worn the inside of the tire or wheel as far as it will go.  When you see a significant difference between the outside and inside of the tire or wheel then rotate.  After rotating and you've put a lot of miles on your Trikke and start to see significant wear again as compared to the outside of the tire or wheel then rotate once more.  This way you will evenly wear out the tires or wheels.  It's very very simple to do and only takes a few minutes.  The hex wrenches supplied with your Trikke are the only tools you need.  This is also a good time to do a brake adjustment. Refer to your owners manual for adjusting the brakes. NOTE: Don't forget, while your wheels are off use a rag and wipe off the accumulated dirt and grime from the Trikke frame and the wheels and rims.  Do not spray lubricant on the bearings or axles.  The bearings are sealed and do not require lubrication.  The only thing that lubrication will do for the wheels is cause dirt and grime to collect which is detrimental.

Hydration -  It's that time of year when the heat is on everywhere.  Always remember to carry water with you on ANY Trikke ride you do.

Air-Air-Air - Don't forget to very regularly check the air pressure in your pneumatic tires.  A loss of 10 to 20psi can make a huge difference in your ride and speed.  A big question came up about the T12 having "40psi" labeled on the tire.  Disregard that label. If you haven't signed up or want to learn more about our affiliate program please Click Here.

2006 Trikke Infomercial - The new 2006 Trikke Infomercial just launched in cities across the nation last Friday.  Trikke Tech is seeing a tremendous response.  Even Trikke Tampa and First Coast Trikkes are being positively impacted with sales.  The infomercial only sales the T8v.2 and the T6v.1 but it's sparked a Trikke interest for people to do their research and find out about the T12 and T8C-Air.  These sales are what help Trikke Tampa and First Coast Trikkes to continuously be able to sponsor club rides, events and support that you expect.  So please, refer your friends and curious people to us so we can continue to provide you the service and support that you expect.

-Save 10% OFF your Next Trikke purchase - Mention this newsletter and 10% OFF when you call to place your order and we'll give you a 10% discount off the retail purchase price of any Trikke model!

Andy Clark

Ok... maybe ALIVE is too much too soon. The page is up and in a few
days, after I have a chance to add a little more content, I will be
doing some light advertising in the Central Florida area print papers
and hopefully we will be on our way to a real club we can all be
proud of.

I wanted to share this with those who have already signed up here on
Yahoo and to let you know that we will still be using this fourm to
communicate for the time being. Once we see if we have others
joining, we might add a webboard right on the ORLANDOTRIKES.COM site.
I'm very new at web design so please bear with me.

I would like hear from those of you who are already members here in
the Central Florida area. Are you still there? I hope so. I also look
forward to welcoming new members soon. Look for an announcement about
a group ride in late August. If you have suggestions for dates, I'm
all ears!

Let's make it happen people. It's time for Central Florida to be on
the Trikke map!

Hey Everyone,

I'm running behind again but what's new.  :o)  This is going to be a quick newsletter so I'm going to get started.

Trikke Tampa Club Ride - This weeks ride is going to be at the beautiful Ft. Desoto Park.  It's a really nice trail that is level and smooth.  This could be a great opportunity to bring the entire family out for a day at the beach.  You can meet us and ride your Trikke and then hook up with the family and spend a few hours at the beach.  If anyone needs to borrow a Trikke I do have demo's that I can let family members ride.  I do have a limited number for loan so please let me know in advance.

We'll meet at the long fishing pier parking lot near the fort.  After you make a right turn at the huge American flag you'll go a little ways and then make a left just before the sharp curve in the road.  It's really easy to get to and you'll see my TRIKKE Tampa trailer in the parking lot.  You can click the "View Map" in the upper left corner of this page to see a satellite picture of the location we'll meet at.  I'll also have my phone on me so if you need you can give me a call.

Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation - We were able to participate in a fantastic fund raising event this past Saturday, June 10th.  The Hillsborough County Athletic Dept invited us to do a display and demo at the Amateur Softball Associations 45 team softball tournament.  It was a fund raising event for the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation 3 Day Walk this October.  They had a raffle for a number of fantastic prizes that local area business's had donated.  We donated a Trikke T6 Sport and helped to raise over $500 for this years 3 Day Walk.  You can click here to view more photo's of the event.

57 Miles on a T12 - Last Friday, June 9th Steve McRoberts and myself rode a grueling 57 miles on our T12 Roadsters.  We started a 7am and finished at 3:40pm.  It was a bear because of the heat and humidity.  What was I thinking to do that many miles in a single day in Florida with temps in the 90's.  Whew, we went through 2 hydration paks of water, several bottles of water and a couple of Powerades each.  At about the 42 mile point we did stop for a smoothie along the trail in Dunedin and that was really refreshing.  Click Here for more photo's.

Online Trikke Forums - I want to remind everyone again that there are a couple of very active online Trikke forums.  If you have a question there are many people that can help provide an answer.  If you have a personal testimonial about your experience on your fantastic machine everyone loves to hear it.  These forums are great places to find others that are experiencing the same excitement and enjoyment that you are and everyone is always waiting to read about others adventures.

Hey Everyone,

I know, a little late again getting the ride information out, sorry.  With Memorial Day weekend it put me way behind but we have a great ride planned for this Sunday.  Below are some topics I want to cover.

  • Trikke Riders in NYC-Manhattan area

  • Trikke Clubs around the country and Canada

  • Trikke Event, June 3rd, Salt Lake City, Utah

  • Treasure Island Display and No Demo

  • Hydration

  • Trikke Tampa Club Ride

  • Brass Button Recovery Procedures

NYC - Manhattan Trikke Riders - Trikke Tech is looking for Trikke riders in the Big Apple.  There is an organization wanting to do a story on commuting to work on human powered vehicles and they're wanting to know if anyone uses the Trikke for this reason.  The subject is alternative means of commuting in the city due to the higher gas prices.  Please send an email with your contact information to me at andy@... and I will forward to Trikke Tech.

Trikke Clubs around the country and Canada - This topic really gets me excited.  There are a few Trikke owners around the country and Canada that are trying to form clubs or points of contact for doing group rides.  So, I'm going to do my best to help.  Below is a list of states and contact information.  I will get this on my website very soon but you can also go to TrikkeTalk.com where they have forums for each state.   You can also use groups in Yahoo or Google but I think that kickbiking@yahoogroups.com is the most popular and most informative forum there is.  Everyday there are numerous posts about Trikke topics such as testimonials, Trikke issues and much more.  The kickbiking group has riders from all across USA and Canada.  If anyone else is interested in being a POC for rides in your area please send me an email.

Trikke Event, Salt Lake City, Utah - Salt Lake City Bike Tour on June 3rd.  These guys are really excited about this event.  I hope anyone in Utah that isn't riding in this event will be there for moral support.  They have to maintain a certain pace with the cyclists.  Claudio Pagan, BJ Viers and Adam (site administrator for TrikkeTalk.com) will be there.  There is suppose to be quite a few more Trikke riders showing up for support also.  If you're interested in meeting more Trikke riders then this is one place to be.  You can get more information by clicking here.  You can also email Adam by going to www.trikketalk.com and click on the "contact us" link.  He's a great guy and will help you to get more involved with other Trikke riders.

Treasure Island Sun, Sand and Symphony TRIKKE Display and No Demo - Last Friday, Saturday and Sunday we did a Trikke display at Treasure Island's annual Fun Festival.  Sales didn't workout but we certainly got a lot of information out about the Trikke.  Sales weren't good because we didn't have the hard packed sand as promised by the event organizers to do demonstrations.  We were still very pleased with the response we got at our booth and the hundreds of brochures we were able to pass out.  We also had the Trikke Promo DVD playing in a loop so everyone could at least see how it works.  Here are a couple pictures of our display before the event kicked off and the fireworks Saturday night after the Tampa Bay Symphony.  Saturday alone had 15,000 people show.

Click an image to enlarge.

Hydration -  It's that time of year when the heat is on everywhere.  Always remember to carry water with you on ANY Trikke ride you do.

Trikke Tampa Club Ride - This weeks ride is going to be at the Flatwoods Trail Park in North Tampa.  We'll meet at the main entrance (not the entrance near Home Depot).  We'll meet 1/2 mile past the restrooms where the trail loop actually begins.  Everyone is welcome.  You don't have to be a customer of TRIKKE Tampa to join in the fun and camaraderie.  If you have a Trikke and want to ride with others then come on out!

Flatwoods Park features: Biking - On Road, Drinking Water, Hiking, Parking, Restrooms, Skating, Trail Head, Walking (Paved)
Mileage: 7.5 miles paved surface.  This is a VERY EASY ride with VERY SMOOTH pavement and VERY LEVEL.  It's a great place to really get out and learn what you can do on a Trikke.  Like I always say and prove to riders who finally come out and ride with us, it's easier than you think.

For the riders that don't feel like they have enough experience to ride with us you shouldn't worry.  We will have riders of all experience levels so you won't be left behind.  If you want I can work with you to help you ride better before we get started.  Flatwoods offers one of the smoothest as well as flattest trails.  Poly wheels will do just fine on this path.  It is probably the easiest ride to do so be sure to come and join us for some Trikke fun!  Remember, bring water.

Flatwoods Park Main Entrance

This is the entrance on Morris Bridge Road (looking north).  Turn is on the left (west side). There is a 1 dollar donation to the park fund.  These funds are what make the trails possible.
  • Main entrance located about 5 miles northeast of I-75 on Morris Bridge Road (CR 579) at Flatwoods Park Trail. Flatwoods Visitor Center located 0.5 miles inside entrance. Additional parking available 0.5 miles further west where the loop trail begins.

Brass Button Recovery Procdures - Alright, how many of you think you've lost the brass button that adjusts the handlebars?  Well, it's probably not lost.  It's in the bottom of your steering column and quite frankly it's very easy to recover and replace.  I've put together instructions for recovering and replacing the brass button.  You can find the document under the "Trikke Maintenance" link on my website or click here.

Parts and Accessories - I've added Parts & Accessories pages to my website.  I've done this to hopefully make it easier for Trikke owners to obtain the necessary parts to maintain their fantastic machine.  I primarily have tires, tubes, poly wheels and some accessories but in the coming weeks I plan on adding just about any part you may need.  Click Here to check it out.

Affiliate Program - Don't forget about our Trikke Tampa affiliate program.  This is your chance to earn cash while you're getting fit and having fun on your Trikke.  It's free, it's easy and the marketing tools are provided!  If you haven't signed up or want to learn more about our affiliate program please Click Here.

Happy Carving from TRIKKE Tampa and we hope to see you on the trails!

Hey Everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well and still getting the full benefits of their Trikke.  The Trikke is really catching on across the nation and Canada.  You are getting in on the beginning of what will be a new wave of fitness and FUN!  The 3 Wheeled Cambering Vehicle is most certainly the wave of the future for fun and outdoor fitness.  It's no-impact and just muscle exercise has thousands across North America and the world realizing a healthy alternative to the high-impact exercise routines.

We have a TRIKKE Tampa Club ride scheduled for this Sunday and a few other topics.  I hope you find this newsletter informative.  The topics are:

  • Our Previous Club Ride

  • MaGooster 30 Miler this Friday

  • TRIKKE Tampa Club Ride - JB Starkey Park

  • Treasure Island Fun Festival - Memorial Weekend

  • Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation - June 10th

  • New Jersey Trikke Club

  • Parts and Accessories

  • Trikke Maintenance - Squeaky Trikke

  • TRIKKE Tip

  • Affiliate Program

  • Nutritional and Weight Loss Products

Our Previous Club Ride - We had our biggest turnout yet.  At Lettuce Lake Park in Tampa, Florida on May 7th we had 19 Trikke riders. (missing one in the picture).  Most importantly, we had 2 families turnout with the youngest at 5 years old on a T5!  She did the complete 1.3 mile trail!  Now that should inspire more to come out and ride with us.  The kids were thrilled and the family unit riding together is one of the most important things you can do.  So, don't be afraid to come out and join us on our next ride.  Nobody gets left behind and we have lots of fun.  Bystanders on the trail are truly amazed when they see our serpentine riders coming down the trail. Click the image to the left for a larger picture.  Click Here to see all the photos from this ride.

MaGooster 30 Miler - Kevin (MaGooster) has invited us to do a 30 mile ride with him this Friday, May 19th.  So far it will be Kevin, Craig, Buck and myself.  This will be a challenge for me since my longest distance is only 21 miles.  I know Buck is a seasoned Trikke rider and 30 miles is almost the norm for him.  So Buck, take it easy on us!  If you would like to join the "MaGooster 30 Miler" please give me a call for details.  Right now it looks like Taylor Park on the Pinellas Trail is where we will meet.  The time is set for 6am.

TRIKKE Tampa Club Ride - JB Starkey Wilderness Park  - Our ride this Sunday is at a very nice trail near New Port Richey.  We rode this trail when Claudio was here in April.  It's a totally wooded trail the runs through tall pines and palmetto groves.  Click Here to see photos of the trail during our ride.  We are scheduled to do a 13 mile ride with it being 6.5 miles each way.  BUT, I want to mention there is a good turn-around point about 1/2 way.  If you don't think you can do the full ride there is a well house about half way that is an excellent point to turn around at.  That would only make your ride 5 to 6 miles.  It's not hard to do, you just have to come out and try it.  You will surprise yourself!  Nobody gets left behind either.  For directions see the upper left of this newsletter or go to our Calendar link by clicking here

Treasure Island Fun Festival - Memorial Weekend - TRIKKE Tampa will be set up at the Treasure Island Fun Festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.  We will be doing a display and hopefully demonstrations.  We'll be within 100 yards of the beach.  20,000+ people expected to visit the festival over the 3 day event.

Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation - June 10th - We're also doing a fund raising event for the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.  TRIKKE Tampa has been invited by the the Hillsborough County Athletic Department to have a display and demonstration at the Ed Radice Sports Complex at the Citrus Hills Sports Complex in Odessa, Florida.  Odessa is only a few miles North and West of Tampa.  The event is a 45 team coed softball tournament sponsored by the Amature Softball Association and the Hillsborough County Athletic Department.  In addition, there will be a classic car show sponsored my MOPAR.  There will also be an exhibitors field featuring other business owners from around the state.  TRIKKE Tampa is donating a Trikke Sport Series T6 to a raffle the event raffle.  I believe the raffle tickets are $3 each.  All proceeds go to the Komen Foundation to raise money for the Komen 3 Day Walk to be held in October.  Please come out and support such an important event.

New Jersey Trikke Club - Wow, New Jersey and surrounding states are really getting excited about their new Fun Fitness Machines.  So much that they are trying to form a club for the area.  Steve Moore from Fairlawn, NJ is going to give it a go to try and organize it.  I'm sure any help that can be provided to Steve would be greatly appreciated.  I'll do what I can to also assist.  I see a lot of posts in a couple of Trikke forums of really nice places to ride that individuals are coming up with.  Steve's email address is smoore333@... .  You can also check out a couple of online forums at the following:

www.trikketalk.com go to the New Jersey forum page.

kickbiking@yahoogroups.com .  You can go to www.yahoogroups.com and do a search for kickbiking to find out more information on this forum.

Please contact Steve to help him get this going.  Even if just to participate in his organized club rides would be of tremendous help.  The only way a Trikke Club will work is if there are participants.  There isn't any better way of enjoying your Trikke or learning new ways to carve than being a part of a club.

Parts and Accessories - I've added Parts & Accessories pages to my website.  I've done this to hopefully make it easier for Trikke owners to obtain the necessary parts to maintain their fantastic machine.  I primarily have tires, tubes, poly wheels and some accessories but in the coming weeks I plan on adding just about any part you may need from brass button's to teflon bushings for the cambering system.  Click Here to check it out.

Trikke Maintenance, Squeaky Trikke - Has your Trikke developed a squeak?  First thing is to be sure to keep your Trikke clean.  It's easy to take a small rag and run it around the spokes of your wheels and also around the axles where the bearings are.  Do your best to clean around the cambering system.  It's best to keep the grease and grime to a minimum.  Most squeaks come from the cambering system.  I recommend that you periodically use a household 3-in-1 oil to lubricate the moving parts.

How to Lubricate:

  1. Loosen the main axle screws.  (See above picture) The main axle is the long bolt that goes across the front of the steering column that attaches the 2 extension arms at the front of the Trikke.  ONLY LOOSEN!  Do not take it apart unless absolutely necessary.  The plastic bushings are fragile and could break during dis-assembly or re- assembly.

  2. Put a few drops of 3-in-1 oil at each joint.  Hold a rag underneath to prevent excess oil from dripping onto other parts of the Trikke.

  3. Using your allen wrench turn the shaft end of the main axle around a few times and back the other direction.  This will help the oil to penetrate into the system.

  4. Re-tighten the main axle.  Make sure the spacer washers at the end of the main axle bolt are aligned properly on the shaft so the tightening will be uniform.

  5. You can also add a few drops of oil to the yoke.  See the above picture of the yoke.  I don't recommend loosening but you want to check the tightness of the bolt to the yoke.  DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!  This bolt breaks very easily so it should only be very snug.

  6. One last thing to check is the tightness of all the bolts on the Trikke.  Make sure to check the 2 allen screws that hold the front wheel on the forks.  Sometimes squeaks can come from these two bolts becoming lose.

NOTE:  The wheel bearings are sealed and oiling is not necessary and is not recommended.  The excess oil will only contribute the grime build up.

That's about it for a quick clean and lube.

All Natural Weight Loss and Nutritional Products - We've added some very incredible nutritional products and weight loss system's to the Trikke Tampa website.  If you're really looking for that added weight loss boost in conjunction with your Trikke workout we've got the right stuff.  Do you know how important your PH balance is to your daily health, mood, energy levels and mental well being?  What about those toxin's in your system?  We have the products that are all natural to help balance your PH while detoxifying your system.  How about a FAT LOSS PATCH that is comprised of all natural products?  Just slap the patch on once a day and watch the fat melt away!  Click Here for more information!

TRIKKE Tip - Remember to check the air in your tires at least once a week.  For both the T12 and T8-Air they require 80psi in the rear wheels and ~75psi in the front.  If you haven't checked the pressure in awhile please do.  You'll be surprised the difference in your ride!

Still Learning?  Remember, keep your shoulders and upper body parallel to the handle bars while turning left and right.  Also try leaning to the left and right while you're turning.  Concentrate on this technique first and the weight distribution on the feet should start to come naturally.  This helps you to become more "fluid" with the Trikke while causing proper weight distribution.  Please, don't try to hard.  Stand up, relax focus on proper handle bar movement and let the feet re-act on their own.  You'll feel the "Sweet Spot" if you just practice, relax and don't try too hard.

Happy Carving from TRIKKE Tampa and we hope to see you on the trails!

See you on Sunday! ;o)

Sincerely,

Andy Clark

I'm planning on going and hopefully some of my family will be joining
me. This should be the largest gathering of Trikkers on the east
coast to date! Don't miss out on being part of Trikke History.

The parade route is 1.6 miles long and the pace is slow. BJ says we
will be following a float blasting Jimmy Buffet music so you can
Trikke to the beat! For more information on the 2 day event, (there
is a 100 mile ride planned for Saturday), go to

I hope to see some other Trikkers from Central Florida there. If you

Dear Trikkers--

Here are directions to the Inverness trailhead:

FROM I 75:

Turn off I 75 at Wildwood exit, onto State Highway 44 going
west.

Go about 10 miles on Hwy 44, to Inverness.  Turn right at traffic
light in Inverness, where Hwy 44 joins Hwy 41.  Go down the hill
about 1/4 mile into downtown, then turn right at the traffic light,
at the old county courthouse (with a dome on top), onto Courthouse
Square.  Go around two sides of the square that has the old
courthouse on it, and then the road feeds into North Apopka Ave.,
the only way you can go at that corner.  Continue on North Apopka
for 1/4 mile to where it crosses the Trail.  You are there!

FROM SUNCOAST FREEWAY:

Turn off Suncoast at Brooksville exit, onto State Highway 50
going east.

Continue on Hwy 50 about 5 or 10 miles until it comes into old
Brooksville. Get onto Hwy 41 going north in Brooksville (you have to
make a funny little dogleg to the right, then left).
Go north on Hwy 41 about 15 or 20 miles, through Floral City (dont
blink or you won't see it) on into Inverness.  In Inverness you
continue on Hwy 41 right downtown, down the hill, to the old county
courthouse, turn right onto Courthouse Square, and continue as
above.

It should be a great ride!  Am looking forward to seeing B.J.
again, and meeting Ivan and any other Trikkers that can come.  I
understand we are to gather at 11 AM.  Don't forget to set your
cloks back tonight as we go off Daylight Saving----Tom (and Ruby
Tuesday) and Glenda (and Runaround Sue)

trail offers lots of shade and areas to rest along the way.

I would like to invite all trikkers for our first Orlando Trikkes organized ride on the West Orange Trail, from Killarney Station on the Lake/Orange county line to Winter Garden Station. We will travel approx. 5.5 miles each way through the town of Oakland with beautiful brick streets and century old Oak trees, past homes just as old as the trees,  to the town of Winter Garden where we can rest and re-fuel at one of the many eateries right beside the trail. BJ,
It was great to finally meet you. I can see that I have a ways to go
to before I can attempt the distance. We watched you take off on
the incline and I was amazed how effortless you did that. Some day
I'll find that sweet spot. We also saw the other 2 trikkers on the
way in.
Hope you have a good ride in Calif. Let me know when you find out
the pricing on the carry bags. I sure could use a couple for our
trip North.
I thought I would share the website brochure for the Florida state
trails. The are plenty of others that are either are county or local
parks with decent paved roads or trails.
