BJ,
It was great to finally meet you. I can see that I have a ways to go
to before I can attempt the distance. We watched you take off on
the incline and I was amazed how effortless you did that. Some day
I'll find that sweet spot. We also saw the other 2 trikkers on the
way in.
Hope you have a good ride in Calif. Let me know when you find out
the pricing on the carry bags. I sure could use a couple for our
trip North.
I thought I would share the website brochure for the Florida state
trails. The are plenty of others that are either are county or local
parks with decent paved roads or trails.

This trail is the longest trail in Florida -- 48 miles long through
woods and small towns.
http://www.railstotrailsonline.com/
A first for me in several ways ! My longest ride yet. I did 48
miles on the T8C -- right ! I had a flat -- long story, but I had
the T8C in the car, so it was either ride it or not go and I had
driven 150 miles to do this ride !
Another first --- not one negative comment ! These were all bikers,
some on some real unusal bikes I had never seen. "on your left" was
all I heard from behind along with some great comments -- "love
it" " I have seen everything now !"
Now for the biggest suprise ! I actually met 2 trikkers
trikking !!! Tom and Glenda, they weren't doing the ride, they
were just doing their Sun afternoon trikke ride on the trail ! Tom
rides his trikke to work, about 5 miles. They were just as happy to
meet me, They hadn't seen another trikker ! So there Ivan, some more
Florida Trikkers.
I also met 2 more Florida Trikkers I had met online -- George and
Lynn. They were ridding their "special bikes" -- Whizztrikes -- I
know I didn't get this right probably. They haven't built up their
endurance yet, but love their trikkes, so hope to see them out
trikking . They are from the Fl West Coast -- Sarasota area.

Well hope you will plan to come in April 06 to the opening of the Beaches here. Last year we had a great time --16 trikkers -- participated --hoping we can have 50 ! We already have had the largest gathering of trikkers on the east coast.
Well wish I had put a post here about us riding on the Pineallas Trail Sun. I was in Tampa for a meeting so I met Ivan for a ride there.

What time do you guys plan to be there Sun to start. I don't know the area at all. But I am sure I will be easy to find :)

Too bad the meet in Jax fell thru. My wife and I were looking forward to get some tips on what we should be doing different.

Sorry about the short notice, but stoped by the trail Sun off I-75 and saw the signs. I did 14 miles on the trail starting at Ridge Manor. This starts at Inverness. Looks interesting and what a chance to show a lot of people the trikkes. The trail cannot be closed to just allow bikes, so we will not be locked out like I have found from some biking events.
There is not specific start time. They are suggesting from 7 - 9 a.m. There will even be a little breakfast and lunch
Weather permiting I plan to do 30-50 miles. Sure would be fun to get some more Florida Trikkers to show !

Hey... it arrived early! Thats great. Yes, the T12 is
much larger than the T8. It does look strange to be
standing on something like that.
It took me a week or so to really get moving. Now, its
second nature. Just don't give up. The grade will be
frustrating so if you have to, walk it up and ride it
down! Just spend as much time on it as you can and you
will be 'carvin like Marvin' in no time!

Neither of us is sure about how long a drive it is for you to come over to Clearwater. If you come we will meet at 10 or earlier if you can make it. We are going to meet at the end of the causeway route 60 ( near a Sincoco Statation ) as it goes into Clearwater -- more specific directions I will let Ivan give you.
I am in a meeting from 3:45 till probably 5:30 but free afte that. I will check email or my cell is 904-343-1833 -- if I can't answer just leave a message and I will get back with as soon as I can.

I have several guys I think are well over the 250 weight limit on the T8 vers 2 I haven't heard them say anything about their wheels breaking.
Looks like I am going to go trikking on the Pinnalas TRail on the West Coast Sun morning somewhere around Clearwater. If you would like to join us let me know. The plans are diffinite yet, but looking for around 11 a.m probably earlier and location I am waiting to hear from Ivan who knows the area.

Hi pat! Yeah, once your kids see how much fun your
having, you can be sure they will want their own. My
10 year old rides our T8's but its a bit big so I plan

As far as the weight issue, I have heard of people

Hello Pat! Glad you found us. Your going to enjoy your new toy, let me tell you. If you haven't tried one yet, it will be fun and frustrating at the same time, but once you get the hang of the 'rock and roll' aspect of the Trikke, you won't want to get off of it!
Depending on the model you purchased, you will need to pick the right place to get familiar with the feel of the Trikke. A T8, with the poly wheels will favor a flat, smooth surface where a T12, or a T8 convertable might allow you to use a slightly rougher surface. I suggest the West Orange Trail or the Seminole trails to learn on since they are very smooth. Don't be afraid to give a little push to get moving in the beginning. Once you try a little of the side to side motion and start to feel the 'sweet spot' it will just keep getting easier and easier each time you jump
on it!
You are in the minority right now. I haven't seen one other Trikke, (except my wife's) in the Orlando area since I purchased mine back in April. But each time I hit the trails, more and more people stop me to inquire about it. Hopefully we will have some others to plan a group ride with soon. I have already scoped out a great ride and will announce a date soon. So, practice up and be ready! Hope to ride with you soon. Feel free to ask when you have questions once you start to ride. I'll be glad to help. Talk soon!

You have some nice trails in your area too. I have done part of the West Orange Trail. You have a trail that is about 3 miles long in town near a shopping center. Check out this link to find trails in your area.
Trails are nice, usually little wider than sidewalks and you don't have the intersections.

Hello Pat! Glad you found us. Your going to enjoy your
new toy, let me tell you. If you haven't tried one
yet, it will be fun and frustrating at the same time,
but once you get the hang of the 'rock and roll'
aspect of the Trikke, you won't want to get off of it!
Depending on the model you purchased, you will need to
pick the right place to get familiar with the feel of
the Trikke. A T8, with the poly wheels will favor a
flat, smooth surface where a T12, or a T8 convertable
might allow you to use a slightly rougher surface. I
suggest the West Orange Trail or the Seminole trails
to learn on since they are very smooth. Don't be
afraid to give a little push to get moving in the
beginning. Once you try a little of the side to side
motion and start to feel the 'sweet spot' it will just
keep getting easier and easier each time you jump on
it!
You are in the minority right now. I haven't seen one
other Trikke, (except my wife's) in the Orlando area
since I purchased mine back in April. But each time I
hit the trails, more and more people stop me to
inquire about it. Hopefully we will have some others
to plan a group ride with soon. I have already scoped
out a great ride and will announce a date soon. So,
practice up and be ready! Hope to ride with you soon.
Feel free to ask when you have questions once you
start to ride. I'll be glad to help. Talk soon!

I am sure the guy that started this will get back to you soon. Sorry I have forgotten his name. I am located in Jacksonville so a few hours away. The more we keep in touch, when we have a gathering hopefully we can invited everyone online here.
If I can be of any help, let me know.

We at Trikke Nation have reluctantly decided that we must cancel the
third and final stop in the Trikke Nation Tour for a couple of
reasons.
The high gas prices have made travel by auto very difficult and
expensive. As we have been funding this tour ourselves, the current
gas prices have made the trip to Jacksonville Florida somewhat cost
prohibitive.
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina many families have been affected by
the loss of family, friends, and property. We all pray for those who
have suffered a loss and ask God to guide them through this time of
trouble. All of us have been affected by the hurricane directly or
indirectly and everyone must re-adjust their lives in order to
survive.
Although we did our best to maintain the tour and meet and support
our Trikke family in Florida we must take into account those things
that take higher priority. Trikke Nation plans to include Florida in
its tour next year and promise the event to be very exciting.
Thank You,
Theo Rushin
Hey,
I claim to be no experts but if you need any help with you event, I
will be happy to do or get what I can.
Just let me know.

Stever,
Geroge sounds great. Me and Theo did the Senior Olympics in Pittsburgh in June. We saw lots of "Georges" make your heart feel good that some people no matter how old are willing to try something new. They got that old by knowing their limits but not by standing on the sidelines for sure !
Looking forward to hearing about your ride.
I checked out our River Walk here in Jacksonville last Sun. It is only 1.8 miles long but the ramp to the bridge that crosses over the railroad bridge is what makes it exciting. You sure can get some practice climbing.
Will post some of my pics here.

Steve,
I have been away in Va visiting family in the Blue
Ridge Mountains -- even got in some trikking in
thehills ! Loved it.
I couldn't get your link to work.
I don't know what "Monsters" are -- not my generation
I guess :)
Aug 20 is off for right now. I am waiting to here from
Theo for another date for Jax.
If you haven't ordered your 12 let me know. I am a
dealer too so glad to help another Florida trikker !

I have changed our group to a moderated sign-up. After seeing another
Trikke group infiltrated by a spammer, new members of this group will
have to be approved by the moderator... me! Hopefully this will keep
you from receiving unwanted spam-mail. Anyone can still join, but this
should prevent any problems with unwanted spammers. I will do my best!
Steve
BJ... here is a link to the trails in Seminole County. The trail I
spoke of in Altamonte starts at the San Sebastian trailhead.

Interesting reading... they mention that they are planning an
'underpass' for the trail at HWY 434 and Markham Woods road. Thats
gonna take some doing. Its a very busy intersection and they cant shut
it down so they will have to tunnel under. Can't wait to see that!
Hope that link shows you what you wanted to know. It lists all the
trails in the county. August 20th is getting close... hope I have my
T12 by then. I may bring my nephews to use my T8's if so. they got
good on them fast. Its gonna be fun!
Are you familiar with the Monsters? They were in Jax last week. Just
curious. See you soon!

Hi, and welcome to the group! Yes, there are many miles of Trikke
trails here in the Orlando area. The West Orange section runs from the
Lake/Orange county line all the way to Apopka. There's another that
starts in Altamonte Springs and runs to Sanford area and on the east
side of town the trail runs just off hwy. 50 for several miles. A few
inclines in all of the trails but they are negotiable.
Since your in Tampa, do you know if they allow any riding at the
Channelside area? I haven't been to that area in a while but I know
it's been upgraded lately with shopping and eateries. Do they allow
any bikes/blades around there?
Hopefully in the future we will plan a gethering in the Orlando area
and we hope you will consider joining us! Again, welcome!
