Trikke Tampa Club Ride - This weeks ride is going to be on the Upper Tampa Bay Trail at the Wilsky Blvd Trailhead. This is my first time to launch at the Wilsky entrance. Cari and Jay Jarman recommended this ride and meeting at the Wilsky Trailhead. They rode it together last Sunday and said it was level and very shaded. Most of the trail is shaded and there is a long section that has a canopy of trees over the trail. It's almost like a tunnel. Click on the yellow "View Map" button in the upper left for directions. As far as a group ride we won't ride a long distance. Only a couple of miles up and then back. Others that are feeling energetic are encouraged to try and ride further and maybe the whole length of the trail.
Previous Club Ride - Our last ride was at the awesome Ft. Desoto Park. We had 16 Trikke riders and 2 bikers that rode with us. We really had a good time. Click Here to see the photo's. After the 6.5 mile ride a few of us walked over to the beach to cool off. It was really neat, we had a Manatee swim right next to us. Mike E. was able to get right next to it and swim with it for a few yards. It was cruising on by so he couldn't keep up with it. I've seen Manatee's inside Tampa Bay but not in the Gulf.
TRIKKE M aintenance, Tire Rotation - Click on thumbnail image to the left. Probably the most cost you will have maintaining your Trikke is wheel replacement. Did you know you can get twice the life out of your rubber tires or polyurethane wheels by simply rotating them periodically? Most may know this, most probably don't rotate the tires or wheels as often as they should. When you see significant wear on your tires or poly wheels then it's time to rotate the left rear wheel to the right rear wheel and vice versa. You may rotate your tires 2 or 3 times during their life span. Don't wait until you've worn the inside of the tire or wheel as far as it will go. When you see a significant difference between the outside and inside of the tire or wheel then rotate. After rotating and you've put a lot of miles on your Trikke and start to see significant wear again as compared to the outside of the tire or wheel then rotate once more. This way you will evenly wear out the tires or wheels. It's very very simple to do and only takes a few minutes. The hex wrenches supplied with your Trikke are the only tools you need. This is also a good time to do a brake adjustment. Refer to your owners manual for adjusting the brakes. NOTE: Don't forget, while your wheels are off use a rag and wipe off the accumulated dirt and grime from the Trikke frame and the wheels and rims. Do not spray lubricant on the bearings or axles. The bearings are sealed and do not require lubrication. The only thing that lubrication will do for the wheels is cause dirt and grime to collect which is detrimental.
Online Trikke Forums - Below are links to a couple of very active online Trikke forums. If you have a question there are many people that can help provide an answer. If you have a personal testimonial about your experience on your fantastic machine everyone loves to hear it. These forums are great places to find others that are experiencing the same excitement and enjoyment that you are and everyone is always waiting to read about others Trikke adventures.

Trikke Clubs around the country and Canada - There are a few Trikke owners around the country and Canada that are trying to form clubs or points of contact for doing group rides. So, I'm going to do my best to help. Below is a list of states and contact information. I will get this on my website very soon but you can also go to TrikkeTalk.com where they have forums for each state. You can also use groups in Yahoo or Google but I think that kickbiking@yahoogroups.com is the most popular and most informative forum there is. Everyday there are numerous posts about Trikke topics such as testimonials, Trikke issues and much more. The kickbiking group has riders from all across USA and Canada. If anyone else is interested in being a POC for rides in your area please send me an email at andy@....

Hydration - It's that time of year when the heat is on everywhere. Always remember to carry water with you on ANY Trikke ride you do. Even when you're not thirsty your body is consuming water. Even though you don't think you're sweating you probably are. If it's windy or just the wind blowing by from riding your sweat will evaporate before it accumulates on your skin or clothes. Mainly in the dryer climates. Water, water and more water! Water will also help to avoid cramps in your muscles that evening or the next day. Also remember to drink products like Gatorade to replenish the electrolytes. Another thing about water is it's one of the best weight loss products there is. Drink at least a gallon a day and your body will start flushing out stored amounts of water that it thinks it needs in reserve.
Note: If you're using a CamelBak or similar hydration system with a bladder and you're putting anything other than water into it then be sure to thoroughly clean it after use. The sugars and such can cause bacteria growth if not cleaned properly. Also keep the tube and mouth piece clean.
Air-Air-Air - Don't forget to very regularly check the air pressure in your pneumatic tires. A loss of 10 to 20psi can make a huge difference in your ride and speed. A big question came up about the T12 having "40psi" labeled on the tire. Disregard that label. Trikke Tech specs are 80psi in the rear tires. Both the T12 and the T8C-Air require at least 80psi in the rear wheels and 75 to 80psi in the front. You should check your air pressure at least once a week. For new owners of a T12 or T8C-Air: AIR YOUR TIRES DURING ASSEMBLY OF YOUR NEW TRIKKE. The tires may feel like they have pressure out of the box but they're ONLY half inflated. Please, do not stand on your Trikke with pneumatic wheels until properly inflated.

2006 Trikke Infomercial - The new 2006 Trikke Infomercial just launched in cities across the nation last Friday. Trikke Tech is seeing a tremendous response. Even Trikke Tampa and First Coast Trikkes are being positively impacted with sales. The infomercial only sales the T8v.2 and the T6v.1 but it's sparked a Trikke interest for people to do their research and find out about the T12 and T8C-Air. These sales are what help Trikke Tampa and First Coast Trikkes to continuously be able to sponsor club rides, events and support that you expect. So please, refer your friends and curious people to us so we can continue to provide you the service and support that you expect.
