Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers are at the doorstep of greatness as they
look to capture their fifth consectuve title. Known simply as the
'Professor' and the 'Thin Beast' Rogers and Dalhausser matched the 1997
streak by Karch Kiraly and Adam Johnson last weekend in Hermosa Beach.
On the Women's side, top-seeded Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh look to
rebound after losing in the finals in Hermosa Beach to second-seeded Rachel
Wacholder and Elaine Youngs. This growing rivalry has seen these two teams
battle for the championship in 11 tournament finals since 2005 with
May-Treanor and Walsh winning seven times.

For those of you that might be interested in playing college
volleyball I am looking for a few female recruits that would enjoy
playing at a small Bible college in North Dakota. I realize that not
everybody is cut out for Bible College so this post may only appeal to
a few of you. If you think you might be interested I am in need of

Mark your calendars and be sure to make it out to Joe Dancer Park in
McMinnville on June 17th for what is sure to be a great grass
tournament to start out the season. We had a great turnout last year
for our tournament (17 teams I believe) and are looking to increase
in size this year to hopefully 30 or more. Men's, Women's, and 18U
Girls Doubles division. Cost is only $30/team, $20/team for 18U if
pre-registered. There will be pool play in the morning followed by a
double elimination tournament so you are guaranteed a lot of playing.
Cash prize for the winners of the mens and womens divisions (probably
at least $100) as well as prizes for runners up and the 18U division.
If you've never been to Joe Dancer Park it is a great place to play.
Tons of really nice grass and lots of place to play. Proceeds from
the tournament benefit Sheridan HS Volleyball. Flyer is available

Hello!
My family and I are planning a trip to Seaside this month and we'll be
there from 21st to the 27th. So often when we travel, it is very hard
to get in some games just because I don't know any of the locals, which
is why I'm posting this message. :)
I know Seaside is famous for their huge volleyball tournament in
August, but is there any beach volleyball happening during the week in
May? I'd love to get in some time on the sand while we're there! I'm a
BB level player and easy to get along with.
Coed or just guys, I'm not fussy, let's play!
Thanks! David

AVP Tour Announces 2006 Television Broadcast Schedule
- AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour to be Broadcast on NBC, FOX Network and FOX
Sports Net -
LOS ANGELES, March 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AVP Pro Beach Volleyball
Tour, a wholly owned subsidiary of AVP, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: AVPI -
News), a lifestyle sports entertainment company focused on professional
beach volleyball, today officially announced its 2006 television broadcast
schedule. Over 75 hours of AVP Tour action will be broadcast on three
different networks: NBC, the FOX Network and FOX Sports Net.
The 2006 Tour includes two new events, five new cities, and a record $3.5
million in prize money. The prize money is split equally between the men and
the women and represents a 17% increase from last year's purse of $3.0
million. This season, the AVP Tour will visit 16 cities, including the new
additions of Birmingham, Ala., Sacramento, Calif., Atlanta, Ga., Brooklyn,
N.Y, and Lake Tahoe, Nev.
The expanded 2006 schedule comes on the heels of a very successful 2005
season. The AVP Tour experienced healthy growth last season, including a 48%
increase in its fan base, according to Scarborough Sports Marketing, which
compares favorably to the growth in other sports properties for the same
time period.
The 2006 broadcast schedule includes four events on NBC, two events on FOX
and 10 events on FSN. In addition, all NBC and FOX events will be
re-broadcast on FSN.
"We are thrilled about the continued increase of exposure for both the sport
of professional beach volleyball and the elite AVP athletes," said Leonard
Armato, CEO and Tour Commissioner. "We are glad to be working with NBC and
FSN again this year and we are looking forward to our first year on FOX."
In addition, AVP has developed several promoter relationships to help bring
tournaments to cities that might not otherwise host such events. Local
organizers are responsible for selling all local revenue for the tournament,
including tickets, concessions, sponsorships and hospitality. Event cities
with local promoters include: Sacramento (Sacramento Sports Commission),
Atlanta (Atlanta Sports Council), Birmingham-Hoover (Bruno Event Team),
Brooklyn (Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment) and Cincinnati (Reach Event
Marketing). AVP's strategic alliances with top local promotion companies
allow the AVP Tour to have a strong presence in new markets without the
standard upfront capital resources as well as gaining year-round, aggressive
marketing and outreach for each event.

Preston,
I have some ideas for you and your bro to tryout.
I run the courthouse volleyball night on Tuesdays at the West Salem
Courthouse club. Its co-ed on a 8' net. The skill level is Rec players to
USAV - A (really retired AA USVBA players, myself being one of them). Some
nights it's all high level co-ed play and its a lot of fun. If we get too
many Rec players, I set up a second net and we play double, 3's or 4's with
the players capable of playing at that level and give the Rec players on
their own side. If you would like to try it out, I can get you a two-week
pass to try out the club so you guys can come check out volleyball nights.
We have a second volleyball night at the Battle Creek club, Susi Armstrong
run that program, same format. She and I coach at West Salem High School
together so I know she will take care of you guys and adjust the volleyball
skill level like I do at the West club.
There is an Adult league in town. Don't know much about it except Peter the
guy running the league is a good volleyball guy. Plays mostly grass and
reverse co-ed. See his web site for more details.
http://www.salemvolleyball.com/
If you are looking for a men's team to play on, not sure we have one in
Salem anymore. Chemeketa Community College had a volleyball class which put
together a men's team. You could check with them and see if they have
anything going. I could do some checking if you need a contact. Just send
me an email that your interested and I will make some calls and find out for
you. You could go the region USA Volleyball site and look for teams. Most
are in Portland these days. http://www.columbiaempirevb.com
That's all I got for you. Wish there was more to offer. I'm trying to do
something about that by starting a boy's high school team, hoping they will
someday start a men's teams in the future. We are short on facilities in
Salem to play volleyball, fight with basketball for gym time and usually
loose. There is an effort in Keizer to build a 10+ million dollar sports
facility to fulfill both volleyball and basketball needs in Salem. If that
happens, we could possibly become a volleyball town again.
Email me if you have more questions.
