Can anyone tell me if the Seaside, Oregon tourney is full yet? Are
they still accepting teams? I have a novice boys team which would
like to play (new U18 boys team sponsored by Puget Sound Region) and
I would like them to play in sand to get more experience. Pls advise
to above address...thankx...if spots are available, pls advise how I
can get a copy of registration form. Haven't been to tourney in many
years when I used to take over 50 people from Seattle to play for
Volleyball Mania...it will be nice to revisit the site...

Here is the website.. I doubt if thier is a masters .. the only two tourny's
I know of that have masters are Seaside (Sand) and Nationals in Reno(grass).
Suggest it though.. My expierence with dealing with them has never been good
although I have not played them since '96. I played them because they drew
very well but the directors generally have their collective thumb up their
*ss. It could have changed... I hope so.

http://www.volleyballnw.com/

For those interested Pacnova has released their schedule and I definitely
vouch for their tourney's... it's more of a party but that's how they should
all be. Prizes are given out over the course of the day including net
systems, balls, and other vball stuff. A Bar-b-que is setup for those who
can play with a gut bomb in their stomach. Money for the top divisions,
(it's based on how many sign up but generally it's about $300 ... although
it's up to jay, the director, and money is sometimes given out to about half
the teams who go open.. but like I said it's up to Jay).

http://www.pacnova.com/schedule.htm

July 4th is huge ... upwards of 100 teams depending on the weather leading
up to it. Whatsa little rain?

Is anybody for starting outdoor vball?

I know alot of people have league play on Wednesday so I was thinking of 6pm or earlier Tuesday's and Thursday's at Orchards Park in Vancouver off of 4th Plain (weather permitting). If there are any other park's somebody would like to meet at email and I'll try to send it out to the group. I know there is a group that meets in Beaverton at a Park near Petsmart ( on the corner of Walker road and Cedar hill blvd). If

Outdoor Seattle tounaments have already been posted, the first one is May 29th in Wenatchee... ( healthy drive but a big tournament ).

If anybody has information about any other outdoor touney's let me know.. I have been looking for information about Lakefair in Olympia but have been unsuccessful.

I am thinking of traveling up to the Hillside rec. center from Salem tomorrow for the 12:00 - 4:00 play; however, I need to get directions on how to get there from Salem.  If I can just get directions from I-5 North, I should be fine.  I was told that the center was in/by downtown Portland and I am farley familiar with the Portland area in and around the river front downtown and the Garden.  Thanks everyone.  Lady Kathleen.

Hello LadyKathleen:

There is a volleyball meet every sunday afternoon, noon till 4pm at the
Hillside Rec. Center near downtown Portland. It is certainly more than 30
minutes from Salem, but, just FYI. Half the players are intramural and the
other half is more experienced. We consist of mostly gay men but
anyone...men, women, gay, straight is welcome to join in on the fun. We
play seriously and hard and it's fun.

Good luck on your quest!

John

I'm not sure of the Salem area but I doubt you'll find anything down there.
If you are not familiar with the region go to
http://www.teleport.com/~cevba/
Also there is a Rev. Coed Quads' tourney next weekend in Newberg March 25.
the play is around A to novice until you get out of pool then generally it
gets to a solid A to AA once bracket play starts.
I live in Vancouver, Wa. but do have contacts around Portland and can
direct you somewhere to a spot in that area.

Also I have a volleyball email list myself which I'll add you too it you
like. i basically alert poeple to outdoor doubles during the summer and
indoor quad's. Sorry I'm not much of a sixes fan but I certainly try to hook
you with a team if you need one.

Hello Fred,

Welcome to Portland! There are many volleyball groups in the area, one in
particular meets every sunday at the Hillside Rec. Center at 12 noon till
4pm. It costs about 5 dollars per person. In the summer we play at the
park at 23rd and Belmont on the eastside. The group consists entirely of gay
men but anyone is more than welcome to join. We play seriously and
competitive. Most of us are intramural and beginners (like me) and some of
us are more advanced. The rec, center is located up the hill from the
trendy section of northwest Portland. If you have the latest Thomas Bros.
road guide you will be able to find it. Anyway, come on by!

I am on the Oregon coast and am wondering about open male/female
volleyball tourneys during the Spring. I have a team or two that would
like to be involved. If anyone has information that would be cool...
Thanks

Nate
