USC CHOSEN BY COACHES TO REPEAT PAC-10 VOLLEYBALL TITLE
WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- The University of Southern California, which won its
second NCAA Volleyball
championship, and fifth national title overall was picked to defend the
Conference crown by the Pac-10 Volleyball coaches. The Women of Troy, who
received 90 total votes topped second-place STANFORD by eight votes. In
addition, USC received nine place votes while the Cardinal claimed the
remaining vote.
ARIZONA and UCLA finished in a tie for third with 68 votes apiece.
CALIFORNIA held the fifth spot with 61 tallies, followed by WASHINGTON with
49 votes.
Rounding out the poll was ARIZONA STATE, WASHINGTON STATE, OREGON STATE and
OREGON, respectively.
The coaches have correctly picked the Pac-10 champion in eight of the
previous 14 polls. Following are the results of the preseason coaches poll,
coaches are not allowed to vote for their own teams (points
10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2, first place votes in parentheses):
