Anyone want to swim on friday morning?  Berryessa is about 58 right
now and has been in the SUN unlike foggy Davis.  Let me know if you'd

Also - so I don't overwhelm the group with constant messages about
lake temps etc - I started posting to the calendar on this site.  If
anyone out there is still swimming open water or going to open water
for some other reason-you can add some info on the calendar as well.
It would be neat to see what's going on in different places through
the seasons.

Maybe next time.  It was still really nice out there.  It was calm and
the water was glassy.  Temp was 60 near the aquatic center (which is
always a touch colder than out in the middle) and with all that
sunshine the top two inches were 62.

IF you're looking for a place to swim:

Inspired by the recent triathlon starting at Discovery Park - I
checked out swimming on the American River yesterday on my way home.
I parked at Discovery Park under the bridge that is right above the
confluence of the American and Sacramento River (It's 5$ to park) and
I got in the water at a beach just upstream of the bridge (there is a
small path down to the water). The water was 64 degrees and pretty
shallow (can't touch but can see the bottom).  I swam upstream and
watched the algae bottom and schools of little fish (and yes there was
some trash too).  On the way back downstream it was fast and fun. So
overall it was a pretty great swim - and very close by.  I'm sure it
gets more urban drool than Natoma and Berryessa but - the water did
have good visibility and not a bad taste at all- and no matter what it
beats swimming in an over-sized tub of diluted chlorine.
