HI Kendra,
Welcome back to NorCal.
I live and work in the City of Sacramento. I swim with the Sacramento Masters, at the Natomas Raquet Club. Its a great team and small so very friendly. If you interested, feel free to email me. Davis Aquatic Masters is also a great team, but if you live in Sac, then why drive all the way to Davis?
I am swimming Donner for the first time this year. I image the water will be very cold, upper 50s. If you want to carpool, a group of us is driving up from Sac.

Hello all - I have been lurking the last few weeks awaiting my actual arrival in Northern Cal before posting. My husband and I just moved back to Northern Cal from the US Virgin Islands, where we got into open water swimming. (We had moved from Berkeley to the VI two years ago.) I'm sure it's totally different here, but we're hoping to do some swims and see if we can brave the cold, dark waters. The Donner Lake swim sounds interesting. We're still looking for a place to live in the Sacramento area, but if things are settled down enough maybe we will make it out there for the swim. Does anyone know the temperature of the water? I didn't see it on their website (

Hope to meet some of you soon!
Kendra
p.s. any info on good areas for sports enthusiasts (tris, cycling, hiking, kayaking?) to live in the greater Sac area (Davis? Auburn?) can be sent to kendranielsam@ gmail.com
